It's an epic fight against a giant Titan, why do you think they planned on showing it? And what excuses are you talking about? Here's a better vid of the fight:

And before you tell me it still looks terrible, you can not deny it looks 1000 times(or at least a little) better than what the main presentation showed off (and the difference is pretty much from player skill alone).
One issue with negative posts for games that aren't released is if the game turns out to be great, the defenders get to say "eat your crow" and everyone wins because everyone gets a good game. While if the game sucks, the naysayers get to say "I told you so" and all the people looking forward to the game gets their dreams crushed, and we're left with a bad game. You should be able to see why people do not want the negativity in every single FFXV thread (see: Styles's shitposts).
Thanks for your post, this is imo some much needed relativisation. Often my hype wavers when some mediocre footage emerges, and people are glad to point it out, but so many awesome moments in the same setting have been shown (referring to the Titan demo right now) that also graphically look quite good to me.
I think an undeniable problem with this game is its marketing. So much footage that is sub-par has been shown, only to often be quickly discredited by videos showing just how fun and good looking this game is. It is positively stunning that SE is dropping the ball with marketing this much. And it's not just the game itself either: the ultimate CE not containing a $25 season pass, so many separate little pre order bonuses spread out across retailers... It all antagonises the core fanbase who want to be able to get everything. Not to mention the possibility of yet another delay, which out of context would be fine but not in a game that has been anticipated for 10 years and has a release date for only just over four months, or the Platinum demo, which was a tech demo with one real battle at the end, but that was never clearly explained, resulting in many people thinking the game played like the majority of that demo, while it actually will play like that final battle (look up the Neogaf thread, you will find hundreds, if not thousands, of comments saying something like "man the battle system is boring, I didn't like any of the fighting except for the Iron Giant").
All in all, then, I think we are looking at a great game with some epic set pieces (Titan for example) and a genuinely awe inspiring ecology (take a look at the World of Wonder FFXV videos - four in all, they show the ecology and landmass and have easily managed to wow me and then some) that is held back by two things: the potential of its combat being nothing special and some breathtakingly bad marketing.
As to your remarks on shitposting: of course, shitposting is fun because it triggers reactions from people who do like it. But I do think people posting here are not all (some definitely are) doing it to get a reaction but are uncertain about the game due to the unclear vision presented by marketing (completely understandable). Perhaps the game is mediocre, perhaps it is GOAT, but it definitely is not helped by SE's marketing efforts.
Edit: I think the footage from Playstation Underground makes the gameplay look even better than Playstation Access does,
Check it out. I think this shows that your skills allow for better gameplay, which is cool I think (do we know about difficulty levels? That would necessitate using those skills to win, and seal the deal on the game's gameplay being great for me).
