As someone who doesn't read comics I find every one of those characters outside of Batman to be laughably silly. Not sure how they can build a cinematic universe around them.

Disney bought Marvel Studios, who were already making successful and well liked movies based on super hero properties they had already established a vision for.

disney bought marvel corp. i guess that included marvel studios. WB already owned dc by the time they were churning movies, but i'm saying for them to be in a similar situation, why don't they make DC its own studio?

A rather stupid argument, actually, since they're essentially acknowledging the movie sucks but still trying to present something else as being worse.

I love what WB/DC is doing with their movies. I liked Man of Steel. Loved BvS. Liked SS. I honestly don't know why everyone wants a carbon copy of the MCU just with DC characters. I'm so sick of the generic identical looking and feeling MCU movies that have terrible writing, a one liner every minute, and terrible villains. I've skipped the last 3 at the theatre because I know exactly what to expect.
A little variety is a good thing. Instead of crucifying the DCEU for being different, how about giving it a chance? So many people have this knee-jerk reaction to them because it's not the MCU and they tell themselves they're giving it a fair chance but you're really not. You go in wanting to hate it and you leave haying it and picking it apart for things you gave a free pass to in the MCU.
Want to know the biggest complaint I've read about suicide squad? It's "where was Batman, flash, wonder woman?" They say that the movie should have explained why they weren't there. Well those same people give every MCU solo movie a pass. They never ask where the other heroes are and don't complain. That the movie doesn't tell them why they're not helping. Double standards.

I don't know what their thought processes are. The answer to every problem in regards to DC has just been to throw Geoff Johns at it. Something that has NEVER worked in the past.

The issue I have with Leto's Joker is that he was obviously placed in movie for no reason other than to make the film more marketable. You could have taken all the Joker scenes out of SS and it wouldn't have made a difference.
It's the Joker. He should either be front and centre, or a menace behind the scenes. Not a little boy lost pining for his girlfriend that he left languishing in prison for ages, when as the ending shows
I'd have loved Suicide Squad to be a smaller scale affair instead of confronting another world destroying threat that the Squad has no business tackling. A sort of heist-style movie to take down some crime organisation where the member's talents - Deadshot's marksmanship, Boomerang's spying 'rangs, Croc's ability to breath underwater, Harley's sex appeal as distraction tactics, El Diablo's flames to break into spaces - are put to inventive use. Then have their plans meddled along the way, with Joker cards left at the scene, building up to the reveal that Joker had been playing them all along. But that would take a steadier hand and a longer-term vision to execute, rather than the 'press fast forward for profit' approach we got.

This sounds like something WB executives would say. You don't need to read the comics, just watching the first 2 season of Justice League cartoon is enough.

and ive seen that same question asked a million times in the MCU too, like why was so-and-so not in blahblah movie in the MCU (eg. where was tony stark in captain america: winter soldier?, etc)

They aren't doing anything different or ridiculously creative, they're just making bad movies. They got my money three times for their bullshit and won't be given anymore until they decide that they want to make something good
1. I have no idea what you're reading where that's the biggest complaint over the lack of a cohesive script
2. Every MCU movie that has taken place after the first Avengers has had people questioning why the other Avengers didn't show up to help, so I have no idea what you're talking about.

I love Nolan's TDK trilogy; TDK and Begins are my top two superhero movies, and I like Rises more than all of two Marvel movies. I like Watchmen quite a bit. And there's only a handful of MCU movies I really like. I did not walk into Man of Steel or BvS ready to hate them because they aren't Marvel. I came out not liking them because I thought they were weak movies.
That's odd, because the biggest and most consistent complaints I've read about had to do with pacing, tone, editing, the script, the third act threat, Joker's superfluous subplot, etc. I don't think I've seen a single review or GAFer, for that matter, ask where Batman and WW were.
And people did complain about the lack of Avengers in Iron Man 3 and Winter Soldier, so I don't know what you're talking about.
Oh please, we don't all expect a copy of MCU, just a competent movie. I chuckled if you think DCEU so far have good writing and villains. I'll give you the one liner thing
Again, we didn't ask for the same, we asked for a competent movie. I thought BvS was going to be good so hard because Affleck and Terrio were supposedly involved with the final product. Oh chuck. I gave them a chance with BvS because I think MoS was not outright terrible. I gave the chance with Suicide Squad because Snyder wasn't directing. Don't use this line about not giving DC a chance. Don't give me this bull shit.
