What is Superman's "kryptonite"?

The original Superman movie was on a movie channel a week ago and I watched some of it.

At the beginning when the parents are pulling crystals and putting him as a baby in the pod to evacuate him, I think the dad pulls a green crystal to give him. That wasnt kryptonite was it? Should had killed him as a baby in the pod. If it wasnt then it was confusing to make a good green crystal too.

Also, totally forgot about him as a high schooler running weird. I guess they couldnt figure out how to make the guy run like a normal person during those super sprints.

This here may actually be my very own kryptonite when it comes to comics. It's everything wrong with American superhero comics in a single panel.

I absolutely hate the emphasis they just have to put on every other word.
"The hiss of supplemental oxygen at twelve liters per minute, forcing its way into his blood… to the drip of the IV leaking plasma into his veins".
Imagine just a two-page all-text story written like this. It drives me crazy.
It's even worse when these comics are translated and this shit is kept in languages that have even less reason to emphasize words this way.

Honestly, I don't even notice the emphasis or let it affect how I would read the sentence in my head, but I get others might have an issue.

I agree, drives me nuts. Why do they do this? It can just be for spoken emphasis because often it doesn't really make sense. Is it to hide a slight lettering mistake? Make the word bubble easier to read for younger readers?

Isn't it too early to be the weekend?
