Uhh I don't remember Kojima writing in anything near the level of fucking inter-dimensional portals and straight up zombiesHow much you want to bet that if that wormhole alternate dimensions crystal zombies thing was in a Kojima Meta Gear, people wouldn't be laughing at it and they'd be throwing around "best writer in the industry" like normal?
Why did they do this instead of just porting the HD collection to XB1/PS4/PC?
Because Kojima's writing has never been criticized by fans...
This is all they could think of? Zombies? When MGS V was just begging for a proper Chapter 2 (and 3)?
This has got to be something decided in a board room by executives who are totally out of touch.
Sure it's criticized by some of his fans, but hell man you can't talk about how absurd, poorly written, or unnatural the dialogue is in these games without an entire thread ganging up on you.
The diehards eat everything he writes up, and despite increasing absurdity he's pretty universally praised as one of the best narrative creators or writers in the industry.
This plot, in my opinion, really isn't even THAT much more absurdly stupid than previous MGS stuff, it just seems like its not trying to cover it up with melodrama. Hence my joke, that if this had Kojimas name on it, I bet that people wouldn't be mad and laughing at it, they'd be praising it. Not ALL of them, of course, but some suspension here for the sake of a joke.
Survive sees the members of Militaires Sans Frontières not killed in that games finale transported through wormholes into an alternate universe, where theyre forced to battle a force of crystalline zombies and, it seems, at least one Metal Gear itself.
Good point!Because the HD Collection can't be milked for microtransactions
Unless Konami actually tries to keep cheating down on the PC version, I'm not even going to bother looking any deeper than that...
You're just talking out your ass here. Almost every MGSV thread is a bastion of negativity with regards to the plot. Check any MGS fansite or forum. It was crazy during MGS4 and was nearly as bad for V. At best, you could say Kojima would get benefit of the doubt. Konami's last non-Kojima AAA title was NeverDead.Sure it's criticized by some of his fans, but hell man you can't talk about how absurd, poorly written, or unnatural the dialogue is in these games without an entire thread ganging up on you.

"B-but what if this insipid, generic idea was conceived by this other guy??"How much you want to bet that if that wormhole alternate dimensions crystal zombies thing was in a Kojima Meta Gear, people wouldn't be laughing at it and they'd be throwing around "best writer in the industry" like normal?

Konami really wants to destroy Kojima's legacy don't they?
Because the HD Collection can't be milked for microtransactions
Konami really thinks the MG fans are idiots. I think I have never said this about anything but I would love to see this fail miserably.
I think the thing that's immediately striking is that the 4 characters have no charisma and just look... generic as hell. Say what you will about the older Metal Gear Solids, but the series was always good at making memorable looking characters.
