I just don't get it. Konami already has a well loved horror franchise that was also set to run on the fox engine, they canceled it then further down the line decided to add zombies to MG instead??

I mean, Rising also sounded like an odd spin off that ended up being one of my faves out of the lot, but this just doesnt sound good to me.

So I noticed that there is no Thor 2 related answer option given in the poll, and I have the feeling there should definitely be a Thor 2 related answer in this poll.

Some of you guys, damn. How can you possibly be angry at the premise of this spinoff, which is nothing more than a coop shooter based on the MGS universe, and at the same time be perfectly ok with MGSV? Ironically, they're actually showing respect for what Kojima has written with all the wormholes and zombies story lol. Perhaps you need a refresh of MGSV story elements.

Zombies?... Really?

That's not new either, isn't it?

Since people are freaking over the "alternative universe" bit, I have to ask... Has Konami said it's an alternative universe? Or is this just speculation by IGN who have seen the same trailer as us?

Because that could just be some secluded site where they make Skulls, or something.

Not familiar with Metal Gear, but are wormholes and alternate dimensions a thing in that series or is this super random?

please someone post this piece of garbage on the Kojima twitter page. XD
Oh my god, image Kojima now is laughing like a crazy. XD

Yeah this was definitely planned DLC they spun into a standalone game. This looks kinda stupid but has Kojima's fingerprints all over it. Zombies and wormholes were in V, so this isn't a reach. Now about that MGS3 remake Konami... TGS?

Absolutely horrible.

What a disgrace to the legacy of the franchise.

Is there any justification at all in how awful this all looks and sounds? Kojima kept Konami from being stupid by grounding everything in a relative reality, this is just terrible...

It's clear they have no idea how to cut or direct even a trailer. The characters are awfully posed and presented, the lighting is off, there's little originality design-wise shown, and the overall tone makes it out to be a bland spin-off.

That tells me enough to make a negative first impression. Whether there was disappointment with MGSV's story had nothing to do with the otherwise quality direction, presentation, and mechanics. He also knew how to make good trailers.

Exactly. This is a teaser trailer that is vague at best in the first place. If the game is good (god forbid) and avoids the tropes of survival games, or at least challenges them, I would have no problem getting the game. Right now, there is some potential as a concept, which all that there is thus far. To be so melodramatic over this of all things is hilarious to me. Nothing that Konami do with the franchise or spin offs will be a "Kojima" game. Shocking. So if they are going to do it, I at least want to see where it goes and if it is any good. Couldn't care less about franchise ties and fanboys, especially when MG games with Kojima are as absurd and equally have both good and shit spin offs. I'll judge the game while others shit themselves.

Expected as much.

Yes. Kojima should be flattered. The company who fired him (justly or no) is taking the property he dedicated three decades of his life to and treated as his baby, and releasing what looks to be on par with a typical Steam Greenlight release.

Of all the easy and soulless ideas you could've done, to tack on the MGS label on a (likely) shitty downloadable game... this one actually took skill, to come off as stupid as it does.
A wormhole after GZ, and zombies... Hats off.

If the FOB nonsense, microtransactions, and freaking FOB insurance were in MGSV, you can bet with absolute certainty that this new entry will have it. Just that fact that there is resource management screams to me that all that will happen again.

Also, seeing how the flagship that is Metal Gear Online hasn't seen much overhaul over the past few months with very little communication from the development team, I'm skeptical as to how long this multiplayer will be supported.

Unless, you know, the game is actually good; god forbid someone actually makes a good game regardless of drama and the franchise it is attached to, I know

My problem is not with the quality of the game itself. It is about them milking MG and expecting the fans of the series to fall for this for extra sales. We all know why there is "Metal Gear" attached to a title.. and its not because this game will add anything to the series in any way. Its literally not even set in the same universe.

Plus If it was that good, they wouldn't force "Metal Gear" into the title. If anything, it shows their lack of faith in their own game. If they didn't want the drama of the franchise attached to it, they wouldn't call it a MG. They know exactly what they are doing.

But the most important thing... Will players be able to see each other? Or the chances of that happening are incredibly rare?
