Breath of the Wild is the official subtitle for Zelda U/NX, first gameplay trailer

That's a cool little video of Temple of Time but it's disappointing the low IQ and they didn't put it on Youtube yet. Reggie promised more Zelda updates across the summer, but two months after E3 we only got this... I hope more news coming soon...

I can see breakable equipment becoming an issue, actually. You get tons and tons of equipment, sure, but at least the demo also used new weapons as the primary reward for exploration (outside of finding shrines).

And then you got to wonder if exploration feels actually worth it and rewarding when your newly found cool equipment breaks after just a couple uses. It felt amazing to find the Fire Rod in the demo - and it was disheartening to see it break just a couple minutes later. What is the point of finding special, rare items when you have to dread using them? When you can't toy around with them without thinking "I don't want to lose it already" all the time?

Then again, this is assuming the demo is representative for the final game in that regard, which it very well might not be. How exploration will be rewarded so it continues to feel rewarding throughout the game was the biggest question I had on my mind after playing the demo, though.

I fully expect most equipment to be craftable or available in shops once you've discovered it once. You'll probably be able to get as many Fire Rods as you can carry if you know where to look.

The breakable equips is just a way to enforce a certain level of game balance so you can't just steamroll through the entire game (unless you decide to grind for the best possible gear).

Is it fair to assume that there will be a new information blowout next month, considering that's the supposed reveal date of the NX?

Both the new and their Temple of Time clip aren't really anything new, especially for people who are already up to date on the new Zelda (like us). But for their casual audience / facebook followers it may be new.

They are just showing reused images because there's no point in showing new areas if the game is pretty much about to be shown for the NX (hopefully next month).

And there's a Korok there that I haven't seen anyone finding in a video, like the one under the tree. There's one in a stone circle, but as far as I know, no one has recorded that one

Aren't these the exact same Korok designs used in TWW? Either they're the same characters centuries/millenia later or Nintendo just decided to recycle the designs.

Even though I love the new artstyle I prefer Oot/MM/TP asthetics. The semi realistic approach fits Zelda very well imo.

TP is far too drab for my tastes and I'm glad that particular artstyle didn't stick around for long. For the record, I never particularly cared for SS's aesthetic either despite being more colorful.

BOTW hits a great sweet spot with cel-shaded characters and the sweeping detail of the overworld, although that may be my Wind Waker bias speaking.

They have the same design yes, but not the same model if that's what you're asking about.
I mean, they didn't copy/paste them from WW HD or anything.

Koroks didn't exist in TP's timeline. Are you thinking of the Kokiri?

I didn't even know this was a thing, LOL

Excluding ALBW, this is my favorite Zelda aesthetic in well over a decade.

yeah, the Kokiri, they are apples of the same tree, you dont see them anywhere except for those creepy dolls on the Lost Woods

Same characters, different timeline. It doesn't make sense for this game to take place after Wind Waker, but it does make sense for this game to be set 100 years after OoT in the Fallen Hero timeline. Just have the Kokiri become Koroks in both timelines.

Kokiri became Koroks. No form of them appears in TP at all, making them the only OoT race absent from TP unless you count Skull Kid. Some people think the monkeys are the Kokiri but there's really no evidence for that.

Wasn't there a fan theory that the Kokiri only look like human children because of Link living with them and they always looked like Koroks?

Well, what Great Deku Tree tells Link in WW is:

"Once upon a time, long ago, the Koroks took on human forms, but when they came to live on the sea, they took these shapes. Now they fear people... but to me, they will ever be my cherished little children."

It implies that the Kokiri/Koroks can just magically change forms. Some fans believe the only reason they took human forms in OoT in the first place was for Link's sake.

As for why they don't appear in TP, well, they do have the power to turn invisible. We see them doing it here in BotW where Link finds their hiding spots and they poof into visibility, and they comment on how it's amazing that Link is able to see them. Saria turned invisible on the bridge to surprise Link when he left Kokiri Forest.

Nintendo really shot themselves in the foot.
Ugh. This game looks fucking amazing, and I can't even imagine what the Zelda game after could be like. It won't be anything near as exciting as this one is going to be. If this game is as good as it looks, there is no way the successor could top this one.

I wonder what the next video is going to be about. First one Temple of Time, second one Koroks. What will they focus on next friday?

i feel crazy to think that "how did people not see the temple of time or the koroks, it's easily available in the 10+ hours of content that everyone definetely saw, just like i did. Multiple times"

It still blows my mind how the top comment is bashing on the game's art style. I can't get over it.

I guess you can't really compare the GAF crowd with the general crowd.

I'm reading those comments right now and I feel the same as you. When I was a teenager I used to ask for dark tones in every game so I can understand those people. But this game has such a wonderful artstyle, it's actually the right evolution for TP, wich was more washed out and brown than "dark".

I think this is Nintendo's best Zelda style to date. It really hits the sweet spot, especially compared to SS, where I found the style, while pleasant at times, fairly ugly at others. Twilight princess has not aged well, and while WW is a very beautiful game, I found the designs extremely jarring at release and took me a while to appreciate.
I'm a huge fan of Ghibli films and this also seems to take inspiration from those.

I know. I'm pointing out that it doesn't make sense for Koroks to have been "killed off" when the Kokiri hadn't assumed that form yet (or at all in that particular timeline).

So expect more E3 demo footage to come out of Gamescom unless Nintendo doesn't allow recording. Which is unlikely.

This. I need to know.

Remember when some people here were saying that the music was the worst thing they've heard in a Zelda game?
Good times.

From what I've heard I'm actually inclined to agree. I think BotW looks absolutely mindblowing, like best game of all time amazing, but I don't really like what I've heard of the music so far. It's not bad or anything, but I'd say it's the one area I'm disappointed in so far.

You'd be surprised at how much this happens. I remember weeks after the initial Smash 4 trailers you had people on Miiverse going "is that Pit?!?" or "is that Skyloft?!?"

Personally, I love it. It's a great way to depict the current state of Hyrule.

I saw that too. Ugh, they HAVE to be planning on releasing new info soon. This is horrifying. Not horrifying as bad, but that tease... :(

Yes, for the NX announcement the game will be shown. But I doubt they'll do another blowout since they will probably want to focus on new/unannounced games (Mario? Metroid?) and how they utilize whatever new feature/gimmick the NX will have.

I friggin hope they don't focus on some mobile-type or ridiculous title like Nintendo Land for most of the presentation. I mean, those games have their audiences, but the people watching these presentations are hardcorez gamerz that want AAAAA titles to talk to their online nerd friends about.

Should we make a brand new thread for all these Facebook videos? I mean, they've been releasing them quite frequently now.

Could there be anything more boring than a thread collecting videos that do not show you anything new at all and are only ~30s :D

Like, what would you even talk about that couldn't just be covered here.

But this is relevant since the thread is all about BoTW. If anything, the OP should update the first post with these videos.

Mmh, yeah. You make good points in the end. I support TyMiles' proposal of updating the OP with the new videos.

I think it's more of a "Don't forget about us" kind of thing... I don't think it means new info soon.

Well, it's also true that it's highly unusual for Nintendo to release multiple times per week small videos of a title coming out in the future, especially months away from now.

Someone here's right on the money! :)

"We know you are all idiots that irrationally hate MPFF and PMCS because reasons but remember we also have a game you like, here take a look at this old clip from a new angle! kthxbye" :)
