R* game reveal for RDR 3 is bigger than any Playstation meeting.
Again what benefit does it give R* when they would get just as many views and buzz throwing their trailer on YT and their website?

It's a non starter for me imo.

If true it's a partnership. Sony payed to assosicate it with ps4. Sony gets association/buzz and R* gets money/buzz

Theories abound about Rockstar still having a contract with Sony for an exclusive after Agent was effectively cancelled, or Sony having a deep advertising and exclusive content deal with Rockstar, etc. PlayStation Meeting is in New York and that is where Rockstar is headquartered too.

A marketing deal with either Sony or MS was always going to happen (more likely Sony due to WW presence), so that's factored into my thinking.

Any hardware platform would be salivating to get simple marketing rights, I don't see how they can suggest to R* when to reveal their own game when that's a studio already flooded with cash in any case.

The NY city thing is just a happy coincidence that has no bearing on anything.
R* will never make an exclusive game as massive as they are (it's like making COD exclusive), I can see them tossing Playstation timed DLC, agreed there.

I dunno I guess I'm just of the opinion that R* march to the beat of their own drum and do things when and how they want.
Doesn't fit in with PS meeting unveils.

This is how much time you have left to get more than $5.00 trade in value at GameStop for your PS4.

I'm sure there will be a healthy market for base PS4s after Neo is revealed.

I'm keeping my launch day console for the kids (who can keep their paws off my nice new Neo), but am a bit concerned about how I'll transfer stuff (PT, specifically) across to a new console. Let's hope that Sony introduce some capability to transfer content from one PS4 to another before launch...

I don't think anything Rockstar does will revolve around the Neo, no pun intended. That said, it will be awesome to play the next Red Dead game on Neo (and Scorpio).

Man this is gonna be a slow 3 weeks.

Will laugh if it turns out to be Table Tennis VR.

Rockstar is one of the devs that i'd think would be among the first to know about Neo, so i'd expect them to make it sing. They transformed quite a bit from the PS2 era to last gen. Their games never really were much to look at during the PS2 generation, but last gen they put themselves among the elite in terms of visuals.

So I just watched the latest Pacher Factor and he predicts no chance of neo this yr and reckons it will be released March/April 2017. Anyone else think this?. I can't believe that Sony would announce this in September for a spring release knowing full well it could potentially cannibalize PS4 sales over The holiday period.

I don't see any reason to announce it now if it's coming out in the new year. They are the market leader and I can't imagine one good reason to undercut their holiday sales. It's not necessary for them to do so.

Well, Andrew House has said that they're looking for Neo to help them hit their 20m PS4 figure for this fiscal year. Their fiscal year ends in March.

Next year? that doesn't make any sense, why make all publishers make or patch their games for Neo In September or October to release the hardware in Feb or March?

Pacher doesn't have a good track record in predicting anything gaming related so ehhhh

LOL

I saw a bit of his video, it's extremely obvious he's not keeping up with the news/details surrounding these consoles. The predictions he made were based entirely around Sony not showing the Neo at E3, and him thinking the Neo's purpose is for VR (even said he wouldn't be surprised if it was $600-700 because Sony needs to compete with Occulus).

I love the guy, but really on this matter, nobody should be paying attention to his prediction.

The facts that the leaked dev documentation suggests the final spec dev kits were going to be sent out in April-May. That mass produced model will be available before the start of 2017. Andrew House saying that he was surprised at Scorpio's really early reveal, and that he thinks the Apple style, reveal and release (instant gratification) model is how tech releases should be now. And the official reveal event taking place on September 7th. I think it's guaranteed to release this year.

Keep in mind that episode was recorded before the September 7th conference was announced. I doubt he'd have the same opinion now.

Colin also speculated that Rockstar's game could be a timed exclusive as payment for the exclusive they supposedly owe Sony for Agent. Sounds crazy, but neither Tim nor Greg overtly disagreed with the idea.

This sounds crazy but could actually be plausible considering the large install base advantage the PS4 has.

I still don't think it'll happen though.

May be late to the party but has the idea been floated that the *real* No Mans Sky version that we were promised will be released with Neo in October?

I'm just saying...its possible given the comments that Neo is a "game changer" for developers.

LOL, no. That is a pipe dream. The version we were promised never existed, and it wasn't due to lack of compute power.

Neo is a GPU upgrade first and foremost. Sean Murray was bullshitting again.

No chance.

So what are everyone's bets hopes for the games they're going to "show off" NEO with?

My bets?

Uncharted 4
Destiny
Battlefield 1(If the MS deal doesn't interfere)
Infinite Warfare
God of War
Possibley Overwatch?

My hopes/dreams

Battlefield 4
Battlefront
The Division
Driveclub
The Witcher Wild Hunt
Titanfall 2
No Mans Sky
Fallout 4

  • Uncharted 4
  • Battlefield 1 (if MS deal doesn't interfere, will probably be amongst best Neo showcases this year anyhow)
  • Horizon
Hopes/Dreams:
  • Bloodborne
  • Dark Souls 3
  • Deus Ex

Batman: The Telltale Series, now running at a mighty 720p, 30fps. Now that would be impressive.

It'll be Uncharted 4.

Uncharted 4
Destiny
Battlefield 1 - though MS marketing deal might not let this happen
Infinite Warfare
Mafia 3 - not sure if there's a deal for this already
Watch Dogs 2
FFXV
Tomb Raider
Gran Turismo
TLG
Horizon - it'll close the show

Won't have anything to do with ms. Marketing deals are basically tie all advertising to a single platform and nothing else apart from exclusive content and the like. Battlefield 1 will prob take full advantage of neo.

This thread is really moving at a snails pace.

Last year we had a fair idea of bundles going into the Holidays - Star Wars Battlefront Darth Vader bundle, Disney Infinity 2 Star Wars bundle, Black Ops 3 bundle.

Wonder are they holding off announcements of bundles for Holiday 16 because of the probably price drop on PS4 original/possible Slim as well as the introduction of Neo?

I could see a Watch Dogs 2 bundle, Infinite Warfare bundle, Final Fantasy XV bundle and Gran Turismo Sport bundle at the very least translating to $299 for PS4 original and maybe $449 for Playstation Neo.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did another Star Wars Bundle to mark Rogue One and bundle Star Wars Battlefront Definitive Edition with the Rogue One DLC.

I believe he/we meant if it would be on stage at the PS Meeting or not. I'm sure everyone is expecting this to rock on Neo considering how well Frostbite is optimized for the PS4 architecture already.

I can't believe people get so excited for a small graphical upgrade...

This generation still is a disaster for me :/

That said, please announce new games at this event Sony, I want to believe there is still a good publisher alive.

There are some games that are going to benefit dramatically from the Neo. In particular the ones with sub 1080p resolution and insufficient AA solutions.

What? It should be a rather significant upgrade. Aslo, in a hobby called video games, the video part is pretty important. Shocker.

Why is this gen a disaster? It's had some amazing new IPs, sequels, gameplay, Graphics, innovation, you name it.

Maybe a trailer for the Uncharted 4 SP dlc running on Neo. I think it's been enough time for them to show something

Game changer as in slightly less pop in and a more stable frame rate. You aren't suddenly going to get the game that was promised.

Stop kidding yourself! Everyone knows that woul require an SLI build of 2 gtx 1080 ti :(

My gut feeling says it will be Red Dead 3 or whatever they are cooking at cock* (cock as in a male chicken obviously)

Recent PS4 firmware 4.00 beta already has option to transfer data from one PS4 to other. Seems they are readying for PS4 Neo.

That's a cool feature. If the slides leak is right about NEO using the same HDD that launch PS4 had, I hope I can just pop the case and put the 2TB I have in there over to the NEO with no issues (physical or compatibility).

Edit: it was also a pain to have to download all the games over again when I changed drives last time. Don't want to do it again.

Where has this RDR3 rumour even come from? Is it just the fact the Neo event is in NY and Rockstar are Headquartered in NY?

Edit: Could be the same source as all the Half Life 3 rumors. People want it, so it must happen kind of thing.

My take on it is that it's a combination of the map leak that surfaced fairly recent coupled with the good relationship that exist(ed/s) with Sony.

I wonder if it's possible to transfer P.T.

but where are the video game legends of tomorrow ? I doubt it's No Man's Sky.
There are here, and you simply aren't a part of them because of personal preference.

Are you sure it's not NMS? Because it just released and is already on its second OT thread, likely sold over (well over) a million units, and has a bunch of DLC planned to make it better.

Rocket league has 20 million players, but it's not as memorable as Braid or Resogun? Nonsense

Minecraft, GTa5 on current gen, UC4, BB, Smash, Splatoon, Overwatch, MK, SFV etc...there's been a bunch of success stories and new ideas that's resonated with people. Games like TLOU don't come about every year. We are only 3 years into this generation.

There are a few good new IPs but nothing amazing (7th gen had Portal, Mirror's Edge, Bioshock...). Compare big publishers' flagships: Destiny VS COD4.

You're starting your list of new IPs with Call of Duty 4? Really? If you're fine with sequels then there are the likes of Witcher 3, which was absolutely remarkable.

Watchdogs VS Assassin's Creed.

The first Assassin's Creed was roundly criticized, too. The series only found its stride with the second entry, so we'll see where Watch Dogs goes. I'd put Shadow of Mordor in this category as a non-sequel that's easily better than the first AC.

Sony launched LittleBigPlanet, Motorstorm, Uncharted, Infamous and more IPs during the first years of PS3.

Dreams is coming later in the cycle, but it's definitely a fair trade for LBP. DriveClub is a natural comparison for Motorstorm. We got Uncharted 4 instead of a new IP but it's a fantastic way to wrap up the series. The Order was a disappointment but a legitimate new IP. Until Dawn was a great sleeper hit and genuinely new. Bloodborne may be a collaboration but it's a true exclusive. The start of a new generation is often rocky with this as no exception, but it has been a remarkable time for indie titles...

There are more smaller games than before sure like Rocket League, but nothing for now as memorable as something like Braid.

Really? The Witness should ring a bell. Hyper Light Drifter. Oxenfree. Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, etc. In many ways it's a gaming renaissance.

Where has this RDR3 rumour even come from? Is it just the fact the Neo event is in NY and Rockstar are Headquartered in NY?

I don't think there's any solid rumor about it at this point.

It's more speculation based on these elements:
1)Rockstar/Take Two confirming that they have new game announcements to make soon.
2)RDR announcement rumored by multiple sources to have slipped at the last minute from the last Sony E3 conference.
3)Playstation Meeting is usually the biggest venue for Playstation related announcements, they usually announce both new consoles and big games during these conferences.
It would benefit both Sony and Rockstar to announce the game during such event, even if the game is multiplatform.

So the chance is there, if it actually happens who knows.
