Rez Infinite Gets a Physical Release, Vinyl Soundtrack, Art Book, T-Shirt & More

Did you not read through the history of those tweets? They replaced his vinyl at no charge and have designed new packaging for media mail. They are also putting notices on the option so people realize it can be bad for fragile purchases. That is actually an example of them being a good company.

Hype severely diminished :(

Read through that twitter feed.

Does Sega not own the Rez IP?

Not understanding why they couldn't publish a physical version, so folks would actually have more than a few minutes to buy this.

This whole limited run BS drives me crazy, but I can at least understand it for small indie titles. Rez isn't a small indie title though.

Except that initial response was still sent, if he accepted it instead of tweeting about it, he wouldn't have got a replacement

http://iam8bit.com/refund-policy/

All original art sales are final. Returns of undamaged prints and other merchandise must be made within 14 days of placing your order and can be returned for store credit only. Items must be in original condition and are subject to inspection by iam8bit staff before store credit is applied. Customer is responsible for all shipping and ancillary fees incurred with the return of items to iam8bit.

For Pre-Order items, cancellations will be accepted for 14 days after the order is placed unless otherwise noted in the product description.

Any pre-sale item that includes a digital download code will not be eligible for cancelation or refund once the download code has been distributed.
Their refund policy isn't clear about preorders that are cancelled after release. Refund for credit's not good either.

They only fixed it after it blew up on twitter. That's not promising.

Replacing damaged products and making sure stuff isn't damaged during shipping should be standard, not some great gesture of goodwill.

They have some cool stuff on their site, like that Hyper Light Drifter in a SNES box and fake cart, but I'm probably not gonna pay the prices they're asking. Also who kows what shipping is gonna be, not to mention import fees. It's gonna get close to a hundred freaking bucks.

$75 for the record? FOH.

I want the physical game and a shirt. I don't know if I'll have enough money to order tomorrow. I won't be devastated if I can't get them.

Hopefully all these people avoiding this company means I can get a order in without issue.
You damn well know the same people complaining about the site will be the first ones F5'ing like crazy for that pre-order. Shit is gonna get ugly come preorder time lol.

Customer service aside their products are often pretty shoddy. Would have loved to see someone that actually presses records for listening, like Data Discs or Laced, release this.

I hadn't really kept up with it in a while, but while it's good to hear that, you shouldn't have Media Mail as the default option when the company basically states "Oh lol, that's our cheapest option and if your package is fucked, well then..sorry". iam8bit is also known for shipping orders late (which has already been posted here) and for overcharging on vinyls. I'm not paying $75 for a Rez vinyl (yes, I know it comes with some art book or something, but I just don't want it) and it's embarrassing on iam8bit's part that they overcharge, when I can get a vinyl from a label like Orchid Tapes (that is ran by two people) for around $20 or so and it sounds amazing.

iam8bit is the perfect example of a company knowing that there is a market for video game vinyl, tapping into the video game market and taking advantage of that. If you want to buy records from a reasonable company, go to Data Discs

Do you have proof of that or are you just taking this time to shit on them. Seems like they were already communicating with him when he posted it on twitter. They didn't even comment about giving him a replacement until someone brought it up again. Doesn't seem like a great PR move to not broadcast that on twitter beforehand.

They admitted to being at fault for not labeling the media mail option properly. Not certain how much more they can accept responsibility then that. As for overcharging that happens in a lot of these boutique record companies. TMR charges quite a bit for their special runs as well.

Boy, seems iam8bit doesn't have a particularly good reputation. Normally I'd be in for the physical copy and might have considered the record for collection purposes, but I guess I'll pass. It probably makes sense to buy it digitally anyway for easy access, plus the record price is painful.

I will be livid if I don't get my copy. I am firmly in the not liking limited releases camp as it just encourages eBay flipping. Rez should be big enough to have a small print run through normal online retailers, not 5000 copies that get sold out in an hour.

Says right there, there is no insurance for media mail, that kinda tells them that they're not going to replace his order (after all, if they were, they would have said that they've shipped a replacement)

It's a geographical problem but iam8bit's shipping rates to North America always killed any potential orders for me. Guess I'm sticking with my disc of REZ HD on 360.

Yeah, in the case of this game, a small limited run that will be gone within minutes is ridiculous.

No they were responding to his initial question. We have no clue what he was asking them since he didn't post that. Them responding about insurance was probably because he asked if they had insured the shipment. Seems like the made everything right for the customer, took responsibility, and added extra protection for future shipments.

I doubt this run is strictly limited. The only reason to open pre-orders so far in advance is so they can decide on a print run and fulfill all of them. The "limit" is probably the amount of orders they get before production.

It really is horseshit. A few thousand copies for the whole world? If I hadn't clicked on this thread I would have missed my only chance to get a copy (I only check the PS Blog every other week if that) and I have been a Rez fan since day one.

I really hope you are right. We'll find out tomorrow.

Is that standard protocol for iam8bit? If that's the case, I'd actually be totally fine with this and I'll pre-order one tomorrow morning.

I almost never get limited edition releases of games but I wish I had a job right now for this since it was one of the main games I've played that changed my life perspective.

Unless they say the size of the run, typically it is, yeah.

I would expect it to be open pre-orders based on their website right now.

Be warned, though -- do not expect the game by October. The vast majority of their releases get delayed.

Oh, that's fine. If I buy this, it's staying sealed anyway! I'll download the PSN version when it comes out.

Limited availability stresses me out. Otherwise I'd buy every LRG product!

I click UK store on the iam8bit site and it's still in dollars. Do they ship from the UK? Will pick up the shirt if so. Not paying customs on £21 and then a £9 handling charge from Royal Mail.

Just as an FYI, I just ordered a brand new 3xLP album for $20 last week (180g, colored vinyl, special packaging).

And the record label provided a movie sized poster and a CD version of an upcoming vinyl release of theirs for free.

iam8bit's pricing is CRIMINAL.

oh god i want that vinyl so badly

enough to sell out my dignity by paying iam8bit's ludicrous premium though idk

and $20 for something like that is common too, which just makes iam8bit's pricing so much worse

I don’t live in the US. Will I have to pay duties and taxes on my order?

Customs is very unpredictable, so we can’t include duties and/or taxes in the shipping price. Therefore, any additional duties and/or taxes accrued from customs are the sole responsibility of the customer.

We're going to have to pay for shipping from the US and probably customs charges.

I am so sour right now.

Why iam8bit, of anyone? Man, i really hate the idea of them muscling in on LRG and shit. Gross gross gross.

Not sure if i'm gonna get it tomorrow.
