Does SFV Juri have the worst theme song in fighting game history?

As someone who hates house with a passion:-

That is nothing resembling deep house.

That is the 2016 equivalent of a 10 year old discovering the import function on a pirated copy of fruity loops.

It's just a cacophony of noise.

I meant techno, but whatever. if that's what you consider noise you would HATE my library dog

This is her original theme from SF IV:

Notice how there's actually a melody in there, and like, progression and shit.

The SF V rendition sounds like a teenager messing around in FL Studio for 10 minutes.

I liked the melody but this orchestral/rock/dancebeat shit is the most tiresome genre in video games. This is why I always turned the music down in SFIV and just played my own tunes.

"Notice how there's actually a melody in there, and like, progression and shit"

Music doesn't need a melody. This is the same silly shit people say about songs without vocals.

I love slower-buildup techno as well, but it's not really well suited for a fighting game at all. There's no point in a minute straight of UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ UNTZ if the round is over by second 40.

I would like more low key techno or electronic stuff that isnt the blaring madness in tekken ( love tekken btw) in my fight games

Yo if i could get liquid funk dnb in my fight games?yo!

I mean, it's bad, but I've heard much worse. And even then, Juri & Laura's themes are currently the only blemishes on an otherwise great soundtrack for SFV.

I like it.

The SFV version has a melody that is revealed as the song progresses

The garbage I keep reading how "it sounds like a kid made this in FL Studio in 5/10 minutes" is the most reductive bullshit possible. I guess if the kid has a fundamental understanding of making beats and has a set melody in mind, like idk how electronic songs are written or something

Relax, I'm not making any generalizations about electronic music in general.

I always wonder why people have such averse reactions to minimalist stuff though. like if ti was some drone noise or something I would understand not liking it more than what it is in it's current state.

Hey, I like subdued themes. FANG's theme, for example, is my second favourite in the game.

I think the V theme is awesome and I loved IV version.
It's also a great evolution of the song that fits her character which has evolved in the same way.
If that make sense.

However I think the V version could be even better if it ditched the fuzzy effect after the first verse. Still great though

I think it is
Not every fighting game song needs massive build up. One my favorite fightong game songs ever is fight with the wind in cvs2. Its my favorite song on that ost. Do what it is? Its a lowkeyish early 2000 kinda electronic almost rnb-ish beat. It even has the late 90's early 2000's guitar that was on every rnb joint during that period. And it fits perfectly

Not every fighting game needs build up or urgency sometimes the more subdued tracks compliments the fighting or characters. This type of variety is feel is good, saying that a genre needs to be limited to a style of composing seems just limiting to the genre and medium its self.

It sounds a lot like something off the Tekken 4 soundtrack.

Nah.

I mean it's not a good tune really , sounds like a DJ was at a club and had to go take a shit so he couldn't actually drop the bass or do anything interesting with the tune. I'm not a fan basically and it's easily the weakest tune in SFV which is sad because I think Juri deserves better. I'm a pretty big fan of most of the soundtrack in SFV , the SF2 cast has an almost pushed to the limit orchestral /live instrument feel and the new characters as well as the other returning characters all manage some interesting stuff. I suppose Lauras theme is a bit of a mess too but at least it goes somewhere and actually feels kind of appropriate for the character (instrumentally).

So yeah, Juri's theme is flat , I hope the composer gets a chance to finish it at some point. It's far from the worst in all fighting games (geez the hyperbole sf5 generates is getting pretty desperate lately).

it's weird for me since rest of SFV soundtrack is really amazing imo.
Some amazing composers were involved and almost all of the tracks are brilliant.

I like it, but it is a pretty big step down from her amazing SFIV theme.

I'm legitimately surprised that a few people are hating on Laura's theme though. It's one of my favorites. Especially the part that kicks in a minute into the song.

If you want real bastardization remixes of older themes, check out some of the damage that KOF has done.
