Driveclub VR gameplay.

Would be cool to see a remake of Virtua fighter with new camera options

Virtua racing would be nice.

The ultimate would have been removed of motorstorm one and two with cleaner more detailed tracks for neo

Is like to find one of these 'infinitely powerful' PCs.

Are they powered by a wormhole connected to the Big Bang? Maybe the compute is all done in neutron star matter.

People sure love their shitty snark responses, don't they?

Infinitely powerful as a platform, not an individual piece of hardware. You can keep adding and swapping parts to a PC meaning there's no theoretical limit to the resolution or framerate of a PC VR game. With a console you're limited to the hardware's capabilities until the next one comes out, with PCs there's no "next one" because you can upgrade forever and ever.

Just drop a full payment for PSVR!
Now I wait and see how GT sport run in VR, considering for T150 wheel. Can't believe how much I'll spend this holiday. PSVR, Driveclub VR and bunch of VR titles, TLG, Gravity Rush, Fifa/PES, Persona 5, GT sport, Neo if release this year, FF world/FF15, among others I lost count...

What wheel is that guy using in the video and would you guys recommend the cheaper wheels or just pay up for the more expensive ones? It's not like I'd get everything at once but if I really enjoy racing games in VR then I'd like to get a wheel early next year during tax return season. Honestly I'm not even a fan of the racing genre but I feel like VR would change that.

Racing in VR is so freaking cool. I grinned from ear to ear my entire first play session of Live For Speed with my G20 and Oculus DK2. Project Cars on CV1 is even beyond that. But yea like the guy says in the video, naturally being able to use your mirrors and just look around at opponents cars to judge distance while racing is downright amazing the first time it happens to you. Because you will just do it without even thinking and then a moment later you're like "HOLY SHIT I just did that and it worked!" Really excited for you PSVR guys to get your first impressions.

Can't wait for October.

Same here.

Is there any way to get a wheel like the t150 for this, and also use it on Xbox One? (with force feedback) Something like the Brook controller adapter? There's just no way I have the money or space for 2 different racing wheels.

Why (from about half way through) does the outside spectator view no longer seem to follow the motions of the headset?
At the start it looks like there is some lag from spectator view to headset movement but I presume the lag is not detectable to the player otherwise he'd be barfing. But then later it gets really out of sync like he does whole head motions that aren't shown.

Graphically, from what you can see in this video anyway, it doesn't look half bad. Still looks fundamentally like Driveclub. Hardly a PS2 game! :p

Looks better than I expected.
Good solution for the HUD.

That looks really good for VR...

Yes it looks really good ... But...that's what I thought about Eve running on the big screen at BB, and then I tried it on PSVR and it looked not that good with lots of aliasing and details missing when using the VR headset. I expected to look the same in the headset as it was on the screen, but sadly it was not. On the positive side, the immersion was amazing and soon I forgot about everything else. So I am wondering the same about this video...yes it looks great on the screen on TV, but does it look that good on the headset screen. I doubt it but I bet it will be awesome playing DC in VR even if graphics won't look that crisp when using the headset.

I think this looks really, really good.
The graphics look surprisingly decent to me.
Hoping that a big(ish) name game like this, helps push VR more into the main stream.

its not input lag. there is a cut in the video at around 2:39 which throws the gameplay vid out of sync.

quoting myself.

But their is though. No matter what you buy you'll hit the limit of the current technology.

Neither of these things are released. Can't expect everything to run flawless.

PS Neo and PSVR will be my first step into the VR world. I will probably grab a Vive eventually but I feel like Sony will have more focused support on their platform.

Haha, I genuenly laughed out loud with this vid. The guys enthousiasm together with the VO guy asking him question in a polite english accent. Brilliant

'You're a terrible drivah Dave'

Is this going to be a full game in therms on content, like cars/tracks or is it going to be a stripped down DC version?

This should be posted in every PS VR thread:
The "corrected 2d output" from the VR box to your tv is introducing lag, the experience while wearing the VR headset is, supposedly, lag free.

This video is a pretty good sell for PS VR, and I like how the PS Access team haven't tried to hide anything like the look of the headset.

Looks like PS VR is going to be really good with seated "pilot" style experiences.

GameCentral's David Jenkins was really impressed byCriterion Games' Star Wars' X-Wing mission:

Not sure if that's worth a thread or not.

Brian Altano at IGN was similarly impressed with Star Wars in VR. He claims it convinced him to keep his PSVR ore-order. http://m.uk.ign.com/videos/2016/08/...ed-me-to-keep-my-psvr-pre-order-gamescom-2016

AFAIK Playstation Access is a Yogscast company.

I know they share the Yogscast building, so you're probably right.

No, it's a standalone game with some new tracks.

Though there's talk that season pass holders for the original Driveclub may get a discount though. The leaked japanese playstation blog post said it'd launch on october 13 with psvr, but that was taken down. The recent post on the US playstation blog just says it's going to release in 2016, so we don't know at this point if plans have changed.

If it makes you feel any better its all new tracks. And theres a Discount if you have the season pass.

Honestly, given the amount of extra work and new content going into this I don't it's reasonable to just expect this to be a free patch or DLC update. I don't know if I'll be getting PSVR any time soon (currently leaning towards probably not), but I'm actually tempted to get this regardless because I love Driveclub and I want it to be a success.

Then there is Drive Club, Star Wars Battlefront, that crazy looking Crytek Robinson game, the Until Dawn expansion, Tomb Raider VR. the list keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Wait a minute -- there's a Tomb Raider VR game coming out?! I was not aware of this. What does it consist of?

That isn't correct.

The same team that made DRIVECLUB also made VR.

Awesome. I'm so glad you guys got saved, and that Driveclub VR is still coming.

It's additional content for Rise when it comes out on ps4. Looks a bit like the Batman experience ("explore my humble abode").

OT- DC VR was one of the apps I've been watching the closest; I got DC and the season pass at launch, and also bikes. I'm so glad to see it's still alive and actually coming out.

Edit: beaten like a second-rate Tomb Raider

It is when you see it in VR.

Pretty much this.

For those who haven't tried VR on the Rift or Vive yet, most games will mirror the video output on the monitor so those without a headset on can see what's going on. The output on the monitor always looks great but what you see in the headset is of decidedly lower quality.

From what I understand, the PSVR headset screens are even slightly lower resolution than what the Rift/Vive have.

Don't get me wrong, VR is awesome and I love my Rift, but don't be fooled that what you're seeing over YouTube streams is how it will look in-headset.

Uh, no? I played this last year. Looked better in VR then on screen. The TV uses one side of the image and removes barrel distortion, so the TV version will always be lower quality then what the person IN the headset is getting (and 2D instead of 3D). Scroll up regarding the screen, as well. It's a great piece of kit compared to Rift and Vive. I've tried all three, and GearVR as well.

Does anyone have any impressions on how Driveclub VR handles crashes/flipping cars?

Unless I missed something in the vid, there was no crash but I imagine it could be hard on your stomach to experience your flipping car in VR.

Never tried psvr but I do own the vive vr set. I can say with certainty that the monitor screen is a lot better quality than the vr headset. Maybe it's different for psvr?

It's not.

As someone who's tried PSVR more than once, what you see in VR definitely seems lower quality than what you see on the TV.

Please don't set people up with false expectations. They'll be disappointed if they shell out the $400, put the headset on, and then realize there's a slight downgrade.

What makes up for the downgrade is the immersion. I was sold on VR since the GearVR days and I know I won't be disappointed with my PSVR pre-order.

You dont . There is only like 3 games that support it lol. I kinda regret buying mine and i actually gameplay performance was much worse than a controller for some reason i am not sure of
Funnily enough I feel the opposite, really glad I bought a wheel!

In car racing is one of the most comfortable VR experiences as your mind isn't expecting to feel a lot of movement (same with space sim cockpit).

There are some out of car views (I.e. hood view) in pCars and Dirt Rally that has made me start to feel nauseous, but in car should be fine for most.

Hmm I actually assumed out of car views would result in less motion sickness.

:)

Yes, it can. I have a Rift and wheel setup I use with Assetto Corsa, and until you get used to driving in VR there's always a weird disconnect when you're in tight turns or do a hard brake - your body expects a certain G force and starts to move in anticipation to compensate for it. How everyone's balance and brain are affected by that disconnect can vary - some adjust quickly, others get nausea soon and have to stop.

Disagree. Especially if you have a lot of racing or flight experience - your mind IS expecting certain movements, and how it reacts to that disconnect when it's not there can have wildly different effects on people. It's why professional simulators that don't have complete motion built-in with their setups have mandatory breaks during sessions so that their students don't get too disoriented. And that's without VR!

Well that's a little worrying... I guess I'll just have to try it for myself :)

sidenote: I really like the PS Access UK people. I always enjoy their coverage much more than most of the gaming "media personalities" people on GAF seem to love.

Off topic: I thought the PS Access videos of them playing Kitchen, RE7 and Here They Lie were great fun. They seemed genuinely scared. Not sure I'm going to be able to stomach RE7 and HTL in VR...

On topic: I was sold on Driveclub VR, before. The new video has confirmed it. Hopefully Dirt Rally will get a PSVR patch, might justify me buying a T150...

Wish someone had captured 60fps footage of the game, off-screen or direct-feed.

Not sure how feasible this is. I guess you could intercept the video feed from the processing unit to the headset, but it would be distorted. Off-screen capture is going to need a camera close to the headset lenses, probably not practical when someone is trying to actually play the game.

The best indicator is probably the social screen feed with a bunch of caveats, which is what we've got.

I must be blind, but can anyone point me to the list of PSVR games coming out? I know there's a dedicated thread but can't find it :S

Do we even know if PU creates 60fps feed for Social Screen? Game engines themselves are creating 90fps or 120fps [native or 60>120 reprojected] video feed that is sent out of the console.

Subscribe to it :)

You probably didn't notice it as much as others. Even the PS access guy in the video said it looks just as good as regular Driveclub. Some will be more critical than others that's all.

Sony has to deliver something amazingly fun, I'm not too worried about VR stuff being current gen quality.
