Looks like the funnest VR game I've seen so far.
INFINITELY. MORE. POWER!
Where have I heard that one before?
Probably everywhere because it's true?
Is like to find one of these 'infinitely powerful' PCs.
Are they powered by a wormhole connected to the Big Bang? Maybe the compute is all done in neutron star matter.
Since these guys are paid to sell you on all things PlayStation, I'd say he did a pretty good job on convincing me to check out DriveClub VR.

Racing in VR is so freaking cool. I grinned from ear to ear my entire first play session of Live For Speed with my G20 and Oculus DK2. Project Cars on CV1 is even beyond that. But yea like the guy says in the video, naturally being able to use your mirrors and just look around at opponents cars to judge distance while racing is downright amazing the first time it happens to you. Because you will just do it without even thinking and then a moment later you're like "HOLY SHIT I just did that and it worked!" Really excited for you PSVR guys to get your first impressions.
Just drop a full payment for PSVR!
Now I wait and see how GT sport run in VR, considering for T150 wheel. Can't believe how much I'll spend this holiday. PSVR, Driveclub VR and bunch of VR titles, TLG, Gravity Rush, Fifa/PES, Persona 5, GT sport, Neo if release this year, FF world/FF15, among others I lost count...
Infinitely scaling, as I already said.Look up the meaning of infinity sometime.
Graphically, from what you can see in this video anyway, it doesn't look half bad. Still looks fundamentally like Driveclub. Hardly a PS2 game!![]()
Looks better than I expected.
Good solution for the HUD.
That looks really good for VR...
Why (from about half way through) does the outside spectator view no longer seem to follow the motions of the headset?
At the start it looks like there is some lag from spectator view to headset movement but I presume the lag is not detectable to the player otherwise he'd be barfing. But then later it gets really out of sync like he does whole head motions that aren't shown.
its not input lag. there is a cut in the video at around 2:39 which throws the gameplay vid out of sync.
People sure love their shitty snark responses, don't they?
Infinitely powerful as a platform, not an individual piece of hardware. You can keep adding and swapping parts to a PC meaning there's no theoretical limit to the resolution or framerate of a PC VR game. With a console you're limited to the hardware's capabilities until the next one comes out, with PCs there's no "next one" because you can upgrade forever and ever.
quoting myself.

Really surprised at how good that looks in the end. Was expecting the downgrade to be far more severe.
This video is a pretty good sell for PS VR, and I like how the PS Access team haven't tried to hide anything like the look of the headset.
Looks like PS VR is going to be really good with seated "pilot" style experiences.
GameCentral's David Jenkins was really impressed byCriterion Games' Star Wars' X-Wing mission:
Not sure if that's worth a thread or not.
Infinitely scaling, as I already said.
AFAIK Playstation Access is a Yogscast company.
No, it's a standalone game with some new tracks.
Though there's talk that season pass holders for the original Driveclub may get a discount though. The leaked japanese playstation blog post said it'd launch on october 13 with psvr, but that was taken down. The recent post on the US playstation blog just says it's going to release in 2016, so we don't know at this point if plans have changed.
If it makes you feel any better its all new tracks. And theres a Discount if you have the season pass.
Then there is Drive Club, Star Wars Battlefront, that crazy looking Crytek Robinson game, the Until Dawn expansion, Tomb Raider VR. the list keeps getting bigger and bigger.
That isn't correct.
The same team that made DRIVECLUB also made VR.
Wait a minute -- there's a Tomb Raider VR game coming out?! I was not aware of this. What does it consist of?

It is when you see it in VR.
Uh, no? I played this last year. Looked better in VR then on screen. The TV uses one side of the image and removes barrel distortion, so the TV version will always be lower quality then what the person IN the headset is getting (and 2D instead of 3D). Scroll up regarding the screen, as well. It's a great piece of kit compared to Rift and Vive. I've tried all three, and GearVR as well.Pretty much this.
For those who haven't tried VR on the Rift or Vive yet, most games will mirror the video output on the monitor so those without a headset on can see what's going on. The output on the monitor always looks great but what you see in the headset is of decidedly lower quality.
From what I understand, the PSVR headset screens are even slightly lower resolution than what the Rift/Vive have.
Don't get me wrong, VR is awesome and I love my Rift, but don't be fooled that what you're seeing over YouTube streams is how it will look in-headset.
Never tried psvr but I do own the vive vr set. I can say with certainty that the monitor screen is a lot better quality than the vr headset. Maybe it's different for psvr?Uh, no? Funnily enough I feel the opposite, really glad I bought a wheel! You dont . There is only like 3 games that support it lol. I kinda regret buying mine and i actually gameplay performance was much worse than a controller for some reason i am not sure of
In car racing is one of the most comfortable VR experiences as your mind isn't expecting to feel a lot of movement (same with space sim cockpit).
There are some out of car views (I.e. hood view) in pCars and Dirt Rally that has made me start to feel nauseous, but in car should be fine for most.
Yes, it can. I have a Rift and wheel setup I use with Assetto Corsa, and until you get used to driving in VR there's always a weird disconnect when you're in tight turns or do a hard brake - your body expects a certain G force and starts to move in anticipation to compensate for it. How everyone's balance and brain are affected by that disconnect can vary - some adjust quickly, others get nausea soon and have to stop.
Disagree. Especially if you have a lot of racing or flight experience - your mind IS expecting certain movements, and how it reacts to that disconnect when it's not there can have wildly different effects on people. It's why professional simulators that don't have complete motion built-in with their setups have mandatory breaks during sessions so that their students don't get too disoriented. And that's without VR!
sidenote: I really like the PS Access UK people. I always enjoy their coverage much more than most of the gaming "media personalities" people on GAF seem to love.
Wish someone had captured 60fps footage of the game, off-screen or direct-feed.

I must be blind, but can anyone point me to the list of PSVR games coming out? I know there's a dedicated thread but can't find it :S
You probably didn't notice it as much as others. Even the PS access guy in the video said it looks just as good as regular Driveclub. Some will be more critical than others that's all.Uh, no? Do we even know if PU creates 60fps feed for Social Screen? Game engines themselves are creating 90fps or 120fps [native or 60>120 reprojected] video feed that is sent out of the console.
