Breath of the Wild is the official subtitle for Zelda U/NX, first gameplay trailer

Don't kid yourself. This is the exact same build as E3.

Yup.

Also, you're not watching pre-rendered cutscenes. Fog will always look different. The animation is the only difference and that's just a random thing most likely. He's still animating, just more subdued.

That animation might only play the first few times you enter a shrine. It seems like an animation to convey surprise.

I like this idea for it and really hope that is the case with a lot of the animations. That there might be special "first time" animations for things but then not again because link has gotten use to it, instead of looking goofy/surprised every time it happens. I doubt there would be that much thought put into it but I can hope.

Yes, you're right. The animation being random makes sense, and the fog it's just fog :S

Graphics are the same yeah. though i'm not expecting any kind of visual upgrade. Not even on NX. I'm quite happy with what they've achieved.

Thought I put an example in there, but I ended up deleting it and not changing the last sentence that references it.

-Like kick enough chests without shoes on and you stop stubbing you toe.

Regardless, a one time character animation to an event that will happen a lot that shows character progression is going above and beyond what I would expect. It seems more likely that it would be a random animation or that the animation has been changed, but hope springs eternal.

Also, how exactly am I suppose to answer that question? No it is not? I guess it was rhetorical...

I wonder how large of a role music will play in the game. It'll be interesting to find out, especially knowing that the game focuses more on ambiance than the traditional style.

Yeah, I also want to know what is the instrument this time around. Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess' were a bit disappointing.

I would have expected it to explode when the time unfroze :p

The reason why they explode in normal play is that the sword strikes through the barrel and the impact generates a spark that ignites the gunpowder inside.

This doesn't happen with Kinesis because the built-up power is translated to kinetic force, not an impact force that produces a spark.

Everything points to there being no instrument. ALBW didn't have one either. Unless you count the bell. Might as well not have had one :D

I really hope that there are other themes for enemy fights, I'm already sick of this one. I'd like more ambient stuff, not bongos and sharp flute noises.

It's probably gonna change per areas.

Also, goddamn that shockwave on the last hit of the Claymore spin attack actually as a massive hitbox. It's like Dark Souls, except Link is the boss.

Weird Nintendo went silent with BotW after E3 for a full month or so and now they are talking about it again with this videos, even if it's nothing new. Hope this is the sign of new info coming. Can't believe we're still so damn far away of being able to play this : /

Nice! And, hopefully we get some truly new footage very soon. Since Nintendo said they'd share more later this summer.

On the NX reveal event for example! Sigh :(

Yeah, I think the next info batch will come with the NX reveal. God knows when that will happen, though.

All those people asking for Zelda to take inspiration from Dark Souls got their wish!

Still nervous about the weapon durability aspect in this game... if the claymore makes you feel super powerful but degrades quickly I feel like I'll end up saving it forever and never using it.

That was really informative. I feel, generally, one of the things that makes music in Nintendo games so great is that it treads the line between nostalgia, catchiness and being thematically appropriate.

Although my biggest takeaway from that video was realising the opening notes in the BOTW trailer mirror those in the OOT title screen. So obvious now.

I thought that was covered here before somewhere either in a post or another video comparison (nothing of the depth of this one, of course).

I came across this video analysing the music in Breath of the Wild. Very interesting stuff in there.

That is an amazing analysis, and it shows how well thought out and in some ways subliminal the team´s work can be, and also why Zelda music is regarded as some of the absolute best in the industry.

Oh man, BotW is turning out to be fascinating and a reinvention of the series, even in regards to its music. Can´t wait for more info!

Cryonis is more a frozen Water Rod from Tri Force Heroes than the Sand Rod from ALBW, though. :) Well, with the restrictions of the Sand Rod. I guess it's a blend of both. :D

Whoa! What was that yellow chain rune thing that influences direction? I think I missed that before.

That's the stasis rune. What it does:

The Stasis Rune allows Link to lock certain objects in time for a short period, before that object regains its movement. This can often be used on gear-based machinery to stop it from moving until Link is safely past, but it can be used to stop unwanted traps as well. It can even be used to contain momentum, as Link can freeze certain heavy objects, pound on them with a strong weapon, and release the object from stasis to send it flying from all the pent-up energy.

Bow & Arrow types gameplay.

So what's left for them to show off? We've seen Koroks, Weapons and Bows, a Shrine, Runes, a bit of Cooking and cutting down trees, and the Temple of Time.

So I guess they could do a small video on Guardians, variety of plants/herbs/etc or hunting/fishing, bosses, more shrines, and maybe resurrection towers.
