Pokémon Sun & Moon | Info and speculation thread

Nice infograph.

So the Rockruff plus Starter Evos is basically a go at this point.
They could have all the same design with slight variations or a complete drastic design change with an overall theme.

I mean shit, the game is called Sun and Moon, Time and Day is going to be a huge factor in this game.

I hope for the latter. GF is nuking this game with variety... I just... don't really understand the endgame for them? Do they want 1000 pokemon?
Can you honestly have to much pokemon?
yes
I love them fucking with the pokedex like what their doing now in S/M with forms and creative typing but where is it all heading esp as they move to better hardware?

Dev wise isn't all the same to make variants or new mons? Well, a lot less work for variants but they are still doing extra by changing up the models and maybe even new animations.

What old GBA/DS moves are unbalanced?

Defog is the only move I can think of that's limited to an older generation that's actually worthwhile.
I wish they would stop making Knock Off and Stealth Rock move tutor moves. But in general I think a lot of the move tutor related choices make moves that shouldn't be widely accessible widely accessible.

I really wish we knew more about NX. Part of the reason being that my OG XL has developed this small but noticeable issue where the actuation force for pressing left on the d-pad is slightly more than the tactile click, so I can no longer just click left and be sure it does anything. It's annoying. Might even send it to Nintendo. That's only depending on NX though. I need to know about backwards compatibility and all that.

Back on topic, it would be nice if then leak about transferred Pokemon having different looks and typing is true. That would really mix things up.

SporePunch Breloom is a powerful combination. That's the only one I can think of.

Honestly it might just be Wish Chansey that's the problem. It was a very limited event but of course everyone has one and there's really no way to check legitimacy outside of obvious bad hacks. There's a few XD moves that are pretty nice too. Helping Hand Dusclops and Follow Me Magmar apparently still see use sometimes.

What are the chances GameFreak pulled a Kansas City Shuffle with that supposed leak with the Starters final evo?

My thinking is that GameFreak has been doing this for 20 years and knows leaks are bound to happen. So what if they released that Confidential with the only accurate thing on it being Marrow to get the fanbase to look left while they move right.
I'm thinking some of these leakers are also including false information. For example leak #2 and leak #4 have gotten different things correct but they also have information that directly contradicts each other. I also feel that most, if not all, of Leak #4's Alolan variants may be wrong.

Does anyone else think Go Ichinose is heading up the sound this time? The Route 1 music sounds awfully like something he would do. Masuda's definitely doing the battle themes though I don't think he arranged them this time unlike XY.

Here is what figures from the new Moncollé GET series look like:

Baton Pass Zapdos can also be a fun surprise. In general, I hope that all actually good event-exclusive or generation-exclusive moves are unlocked, and that in the future event moves are restricted to Celebrate and the like - neat signifiers of an event but don't mean that your ideal team might be de facto impossible to attain.

All those popular or new Pokemon.

...and Magmortar.

ORAS didn't make Focus Punch a move tutor?

The remakes usually make old TMs into Move Tutors.

Edit: Yes, Focus Punch is a Move Tutor in ORAS and Breloom can learn it. Unless you mean a different punch?

There's also stuff like Seismic Toss Mega Kangaskhan, Sucker Punch Hitmontop and Softboiled Clefairy/Clefable. The Pentagon also blocked out Hyper Voice for Gardevoir and Sylveon until ORAS came out.

My favourite "lost moveset" is Focus Punch/Sucker Punch Cacturne. It made every turn into a glorious mindgame and I really adored using it to screw with people back in DPPt.

That moveset is in Gen VI. Sucker Punch by level and Focus Punch by Move Tutor.

Awwww shoot I had no idea! I haven't gotten back into competitive battling since my copy of Y got stolen like, 2 years ago, so I don't actually know what most of the ORAS tutors are. That's super hype though; might have to bring out my boy once again >:3

lol, no

Those characters are too well-designed for something as petty as trying to throw off the most hardcore fans who actually follow leaks for the handful of months leading up to release

? But that's the point of a Kansas City Shuffle.

Was I the only one to watch Lucky Number Sleven?

I know its a long shot but it's something I would do if I were in gamefreak to get one over on part of the fanbase that follows the leaks.

In Battle Stop Singles, Sheer Cold Suicune was very popular until the pentagon rule was introduced in ORAS. I'm talking close to a 40% usage rate on a Pokémon that appears in the Top 12 on a regular basis, and when it's not it's top 13 or 14.

While there's other dumb shit like Seismic Toss Kangaskhan (lolParentalBond), Sheer Cold Suicune is probably the biggest offender that's usually not allowed in grassroots formats like Smogon.

Is Magmortar popular in Japan? I mean I can understand stuff like Lucario and Garchomp, and even something like Snorlax. Tauros is probably there because of the riding mechanic.

But..Magmortar? Perhaps Magmar is getting an Aloan Form? (And with Electabuzz then since they're kind of parallels)

pls i need it.

If it was getting an Alola form wouldn't the toy be of the Alola form?

They've already shown Electabuzz and Electivire in previews so I'm pretty sure it's staying the same. It and the Magmar line being in the game is cool though cause they sat out the last couple of releases.

Why? One time we only had like 4 hours warning.

Well for the past two months we've had info released on the 1st, and both times it's been rather large info dumps and announced with at least a weeks notice.

And wasn't it widely assumed on here that that trailer that was released with such short notice was done so to capitalise on GO hype?

Even something like Snorlax? Everyone likes Snorlax.

As for Magmortar, I have no idea. I still don't understand how they were afraid to give Jynx an evolution along with the other two, yet designed that flaming monstrosity.

Really like how smooth they've made the interface in the last few games. Hopefully Sun and Moon won't drop to 20FPS in battles quite as much.

Playing ORAS right now to prepare for Sun and Moon, and really just getting back into the series again after a long absence.

So, I guess we'll be able to get the starters in the wild with the QR codes?

What?! I feel like I need to read up on this game, so much I seem to have missed...

Is DexNav back in? Or are we getting another DS POkemon game where the helpful bottom screen elements are replaced with something worse? I miss Poketch.

Two instances don't make a pattern. They make a line.

Magmortar is cool. Obscure Pokémon need more merchandising love.

Jynx has too much baggage associated with it. It will most likely never get something like an evo, mega-evo, or alolan form.

Gamefreak seems to love breaking up former pairs.

Scyther got an evo in GS, Pinsir did not. Even if they added a Pokemon that would have been a totally acceptable evolution of Pinsir as an entirely separate Pokemon... Also Gloom got a new evolution, Weepinbel did not.

Gen IV gave Mantine a pre-evo, but not Skarmory. It gave Dusclops an evo, but not Banette. It gave Gligar an evo, but not Delibird.

Gen VI gave Pinsir a mega, but not Scyther. Even if we count Pinsir/Heracross as a new pair, Heracross got a mega before Pinsir. It also gave Mawile a mega before giving Sableye one (although it did get one eventually).

Gen VII gave Meowth an Alola form, but I'd be surprised if Mankey got one to match. We'll also have to see if Ekans and Growlithe get one to match Sandshrew and Vulpix.

However, Magmar and Electabuzz have always been a pair, and have consistently been treated as such. Jynx doesn't really have much of a connection to them, other than the usual Ice/Water, Fire, Electric trio the games used to have quite a few of. And I think that's where people started assuming they were a trio, even when their capture methods would tell you only two of them were a pair, with Jynx as a third, unrelated Pokemon.

Jynx has Ice Punch while the other two have Fire Punch and Thunder Punch, the only other Pokemon even capable of learning them in Gen 1 is Hitmonchan. Jynx is also exclusive to Japanese Blue in the wild while the other two are missing, much like the availability of the other two in Red/Green. Jynx also got the pre-evolution right next to them in G/S.

They could just be not-final designs too. They don't even have actual names listed there, after all.

Getting on the knees and praying for alolan Dragonite to be Poison/Ghost

Also, are the QR codes one use only and can just be spread on the internet and used by the many?
