The loss of optical and the 3.5mm jack in the same day is too much to bear.
Yeah, either we're never going to see PS3 BC, or if we do, it'll be way down the line when the systems are far more powerful than they are right now (at least 2-3 more proper generations of consoles).they aren't going to invest millions in R&D for a new version of the cell chip so people can play old PS3 games
Having to wrap it and basically having to release and test every game individually which isn't really what people actually hope for. The chances of 360 BC ever getting a decent chunk of worthwhile 360 games is slim. It's similar to what Sony did with PS2 last gen with their software emulator, except they actually sold you the BC games instead. How limited? The having to wrap it?

Sony's stock price will probably go up while Apple's will go down
stock prices around events are kinda weird. ive seen stock prices go down following a good event. Sony's stock price was virtually unchanged by E3 this year. you'll probably see more change around quarterly reports than anything else.
People need to come to gripes with the fact that BC is not a console selling feature.
My intent was surely to be sensual and perhaps creepy, if you find plugging things into mobile devices creepy.uh I think this came out creepier than you intended

Yeah but Gene Wilder 8(
If Sony wanted to build an emulator for Cell that would not be impossible. But it wouldn't be cheap. And people forget how limited the X1 BC really is.

Big box, heavy, logistic going to cost a lot; 1TB HDD, more plastic, more metal, this thing not going to be cheap.

No I'm not.Yeah...but you're using a Galaxy S7...with TouchWiz...who wants that?
They have to include BC for PS1 and PS2. It's pretty simple, right?

Yeah. People thinking it'll cost $399 are just fooling themselves. $499 is what it'll be.
Agreed.
Weight 4.5KG (.5kg short of OG PS3) also believe it was officially stated by House as a premium product.
$399 seems very unlikely.
$399-$449 is my guess.people think it's $499 because it's heavy? huh?
Ya it's baffling really lolpeople think it's $499 because it's heavy? huh?

I think it's more likely to have higher specs due to the weight, which may mean higher price.
But if specs are still as leaked, $399 is most likely regardless of weight IMO.
I thought they had a miniaturised PS3 on a board being used en masse in their PS Now servers, so surely they have a streamlined implementation that could be stuck into a PS4 console. Also, PS Now is primarily aimed at gamers without any consoles at all, and PC players. People who don't yet have a PS console of any kind and want to dip in, on their smart TV etc. To me that's the primary market for PS Now services, I don't think it precludes them from pursuing true native backwards compatibility. PS1 and 2 can now be emulated in the PS4 hardware, Cell is the issue for PS3 bc... I don't think it's impossible they might include it in a premium PlayStation console. How much hype would that announcement garner as well, think of that. Think also you can play any and all games in a virtual cinema screen via PSVR. I'm getting GT6 on the go immediately!
There is no way, the only PS3 BC is PS Now for the foreseeable future.
No I'm not.
Vanilla Marshmellow baby! Looking into Nougat, actually.
it definitely is
I rather Sony go all out and have a powerful machine, with a premium cost rather than mediocer hardware and a "good" price. It will seem like a missed opportunity if they cater to the masses. They will come eventually as the hardware drops in price after a few years.
I hope I'm the customer they are after.
I'm in same camp. More weight, bigger power supply, more going on under the hood is likely.I seriously doubt those leaked specs are still accurate.
If they are putting something extra in the Neo that will raise the price a Cell processor is the probably the last thing I want to see.
people think it's $499 because it's heavy? huh?
No.
Compare two figures: the amount it would cost Sony in design/build/test to include a Cell in every Neo vs the number of consumers who
would be swayed in their purchase decision by the inclusion of PS3 BC. There is no way, the only PS3 BC is PS Now for the foreseeable future.
There is a reason a lot of cheapo electronics and Chinese knock-offs have weights in them to make them seem more expensive than they are.people think it's $499 because it's heavy? huh?
I seriously doubt those leaked specs are still accurate.
Exactly. The hardware we got previously was the leaked spec, so anything else additional (if any) will probably be minor anyway.
