Breath of the Wild is the official subtitle for Zelda U/NX, first gameplay trailer

Wow... some shit footage we got today... :(

The downthrust stuff is something new to me... Another motivation for using swords!!

That looks awesome. The only thing I am starting to worry about is how easy the combat looks. I hope most of these demo vids are purposefully on a lower difficulty just to show off some moves, because if the combat is super easy then what will be the point of different weapons/moves, etc.

Doubt the difficulty was toned down. From what we've seen from the E3 demo the combat isn't super difficult, just that if you get hit you lose more health from certain enemies..

On the other hand, this footage is still from the plateau. It's possible that enemies outside of the plateau are more difficult to deal with, or after finishing the game there's a hero mode (preferably available from the get go). However, the E3 demo had multiple enemies that could one or two shot you, the exception being the Boblins (or whatever they are).

The bokoblins look like they have no clue where Link is until the moment he lands. He bombs the watchtower bokoblin, fires an arrow, and the exclamation point of realization doesn't appear over the head until he's on the ground.

how would they! they just heard an explosion and saw their buddy fall off a tower and nobody can be seen around them. wonderful!

When is this coming out again?

You know.

2017 is all we have at the moment. I could have sworn there was a tweet at one point mentioning it would release along side NX in March. But that may be wrong.

People assumed it will launch with NX, but that's not confirmed. It could come out next Christmas for all we know. Hope Nintendo isn't that cruel.

Imagine playing this on NX
There's that one clip with horrible pop in which this one doesn't have. Can't imagine it's a newer build or NX, though.

They had one of their product specialists or testers grab some footage from the E3 build they had readily available, stable, and spoiler free (items/locations) to mine for videos on social media.

Other than the rock giant, we saw Link fighting a tall enemy in an ice place as well.

I don't think combat difficult will come from the fodder enemies, but rather applying what you've learned to taking down the bigger baddies that roam the world.

Great. It always puts a grin to my face when I am reminded that they are implementing a systems driven gameplay. Hopefully we will see more complex interplay of systems in future press releases.

I'm really looking forward to the soundtrack too.

Also, wow, there are mutiple anti-NX bot Twitter accounts. Twitter spans everything.

The way these really simple functions and physics systems interact with each other in the overworld is magnificent. Even dumb Bokoblins can be taken out in genuinely unique ways. What is the rest of the game going to be like?

This is a Super Mario 64-like revolution (for the Zelda series) in mobility and moment to moment gameplay. The speedruns will be beautiful.

Waiting for the "any% never touch the ground Zelda: BOTW [WR]" video. Burning the ground to boost is going to get abused in the overworld.

I think the thing I enjoy most is that the systems in Breath of the Wild are intentionally exploitable.

Shield surfing, paragliding over updrafts... it's all fun candy for skilled players.

^yep,
Also anyone else kinda tired of seeing the same pig enemy?

It's a Bokoblin.

I wonder what kind of stuff they got from feedback/experiences coming from the E3 demo they hadn't even thought of and can still squeeze in before launch.

It's getting a bit repetitive, sure, but this is also a Zelda game and they're Bokoblins. I can't be too annoyed because that'd be like me being upset that an RPG town is full of people. :P

We know there will be more monster variety—we've already seen variations on Bokoblins, (multiple types of?) Keese, Guardians and their mini-versions, that giant rock monster, as well as I think a few others, and that's just from the starting region without going into a main dungeon. I'm happy that Nintendo is showing off the possibilities of combat and items using just Bokoblins because it allows them to show general strategies using a "base" or "template" monster and leaves more surprises for us.

Though I know some people want to know more, and I'm sure they'll do that once we get closer and are no longer just talking about the systems/framework of the game. At that point, I'll probably go on a media blackout (once I know if the NX or Wii U versions have any differences and which one is "better").

I hope they show us more Zelda BoTW tomorrow at Nintendo Direct! (yeah I know it's a 3DS Direct but they usually show some Wii U things also). I'm starving for more Zelda (and Mario Maker, and Bayonetta, Cloud amiibos).

What music?

Others have already responded, but if this mostly just supposed to be a commentary on the style of music BotW is using and saying it's not "music," consider giving this video a look. Though I understand if you don't like impressionism as it exists in music, it's still music. EDIT: The video I linked is the same as the one TheMoon posted.

Probably changing the wind direction will be one of the sheikah slate abilities.

Speaking of those Sheikah Slate abilities, what's the current guess on how many powers we'll see? There are only two more blank spaces left in the E3 footage of the game (two types of bombs, stasis, magnesis and ice pillars taking up the remaining spots).
