I heard the Neo is the culmination of ALL the PlayStations. Not only will you get a fully functioning PS3 within, but also a PS2 and as well as a PS1.

Japanese code named: Matryoshka.
Is all I'm gonna say, feel?

Hmmmm... Interesting. So Putin is now taking over for Kaz. Interesting...

(I don't believe what you're saying at all.)

That's like a chicken and the egg argument.

Is the PSU bigger because the box is bigger?

or

Is the box bigger because PSU is bigger?

Doesn't answer why anything is bigger at all.

The theory is, if they make the box bigger then they can fit in a bigger PSU that is actually cheaper, but not necessarily stronger. It doesnt make much sense because making the entire console bigger and heavier just to save money on a PSU will likely cost more overall, unless somehow they are saving like $100 by using the big PSU...

Eh?

NEO having native BC for all PS systems would certainly make it a premium product.

Literally though. As in they found a way to retro fit all that custom hardware exactly like a Matryoshka inside one another. Connect them all using their internal custom super HW bridge and bam, 10 lbs.

I don't buy it. Sorry.

Edit:

I'd sooner believe that these tubs are controllers, and the water is a motion displacement sensor which sends signals in to the system to control your character.

At this point, I just want this event over with. They haven't announced their PAX West stuff as far as I can tell, they haven't announced PSX yet either.

You can do more then one thing at a time Sony!

I mean, we can dream about whatever we want I guess. Just don't actually get your hopes up.

Oh yeah? Well I heard the Neo also grants 3 wishes and buys you a pony on your birthday!

Don't forget the built-in Vita and PSP too.

With a built-in 6" display too, in case you don't want to play on your TV.

I have to admit, it's completely bizarre to me we don't have an official announcement from them yet. If nothing by the end of the day, then I have no idea what's going on.

Does it play Neo games too? Or is Neo another add on?

Are you stating a theory, regarding NEO's weight? Or did you actually hear this from a viable source?

Who in their right mind would dream of that monstrosity though?

No only Neo games but gotta spoiler this one cause too hot for this forum
Neo Geo
games as well. We in there!

This would give credibility to two things:

1) The PSX powerpoint slide shown some pages ago

2) This post by Shu

Matryoshka?
Shhhh, whispers. Only whispers from now on. We. In. There.

There's no excuse for the lack of PS1 BC. Even the PSP can do it.
That I agree with, I'm still rather peeved the PS4 can't run the PS1 games bought from the PS Store. As you said, even the PSP can do it, and the PS3 and Vita were able to do it at launch.

And maybe it would make the European PS Store receive more PS1 games, like Chrono Cross, Threads of Fate and Xenogears just to mention a few. So many PS1 classics are still missing from that place.

Neo games to be cartridge based and retail at $200 confirmed.

I just realised that the Neo's new PSU is going to be using the same kind of three-prong power lead as the original PS3.

CONFIRMED: Neo is backwards compatible with the PS3 power cable. Yep, you can carry on using your treasured PS3 cable with Neo! Enjoy, it's as close to BC as you'll be getting!

All this talk of backwards compatibility is making me tetchy: hands up who honestly thinks being able to play last-gen games is a big enough deal for Sony to throw enough money to either write a software Cell emulator and put in a more powerful CPU to run it, or (can't believe it was actually suggested) put a Cell in the Neo. Please leave the thread in an orderly manner.

Why would Sony spend money on acquiring Gaikai to build up PS Now if their master plan is to add full backwards compatibility as part of a mid-gen hardware revision? Does any of this make sense?

How much would a Cell @ 14nm cost? Just curious... not like it's gonna happen.

I think the foxconn leaker person just found his drawings and information on a foreign youtube translated into English and found out he's famous. lmao.

I think he said they're still producing 5-6k consoles a day of the Neo.

Good!! Can they tell us what the darn CPU in the thing is?? Lol.

A full BC compatible PS Neo would be really sweet.

The Neo must be a premium console
including PS3 BC
Optical drive for those who miss it on the slim model
All games will be capable of 1080 - 60 FPS
4k at 30 FPS
standard Console sells at $399.99
Bundled with controller $459.99

I cant wait till September 7 for Sony to announce it.

That'd be dope. BC for all PS consoles would be killer as well.

Are people really taking the Matryoshka comment seriously?

I know we're desperate, but...c'mon guys. This thread is officially off the rails.

Seriously a premium console with a higher price point gives Sony every chance to ram in full backwards compatibility. It would be the ultimate PlayStation. Yeah yeah I know Cell is a bastard and relatively expensive and cramming one in would be a pain... But if this thing is bigger, has a bigger power supply, a premium price meaning theres more scope for including expensive one off components like a Cell... Surely if it's ever going to happen then this is it!?

I still think it's a bit unlikely, but I don't see why all the negativity surrounding it. I'd quite like to play that Yakuza game I got on PS+ or revisit the Nurburgring on GT6...

A niche feature for the hardcore in a console everyone keeps telling us is a niche console for the hardcore... Makes sense to me. People want it and would pay for it, Sony would be simply giving them that option.

I think considering Sony is actively using the Cell in their PS Now servers that they have got a lot of experience of streamlining it's use as much as possible, why can't that experience come into play here? I think as an announcement it would be hype city on Gaf, no matter what people are saying now. Sony have been pretty good giving us huge announcements of things we all thought we'd never see. FFVII Remaster, Shenmue 3..
