I'm conflicted. I want to watch the conference, but I don't want to watch it in my tub.

I'm starting to wonder what the Neo and Scorpio will mean for the PS5 and XBox 0/2/5/?.
You wouldn't want to sell a console and then replace it less than three years later but xbox won't want to see PS5 release a year earlier.
Then again they won't want to release something that doesn't have the capability to push 12+ TFlops and a 4k/30fps 'experience' with better looking graphics than now out of the box or that won't seem like it's worthy of a console replacement for many mainstream consumers.

I fully expect both to be playing the waiting game for a midrange GPU to hit 12TF before they start looking at next-gen so I'm guessing 2020.

Last week a shop I know of told me they had the Slim in stock. They just sent me some pics to prove it so looks like I will be going down to buy one :)

2019/2020 was always the goal i think, atleast for PS5.

NEO is an enhanced PS4, so generally speaking, whether its 3 years or 4 years on the market, it matters very little to the fact that it will be rendered irrelevant eventually since it is not its own platform.

£300, but I dont know if thats the RRP nor do they

Ah fair enough, yeah they are popping up on eBay now at £300, I sold my rather loud 20th Anniversary machine for £600 the other day. Then picked up replacement C Chassis with NMS/Overwatch/Lego Starwars and Force Awakens Bluray for £270. Wasn't too worried about the slim, until I then saw about the new control pad :( Hopefully they will push them out to purchase quickly.

Wow if these are actually in stock in game shops already the staff must surely know the price, it must be on some stock list somewhere, aye?

The real upgrades can't take any long that how long they going to take .
Sony can't control die shrinks or other certain advancements in tech .
If PS5 comes out in 6 to 7 years that would be the normal time line for a new gen .
So a mid gen upgrade don't have any effect but i guess we have to wait and see what happens .

Quoted because this is a really important point that needs to be repeated over and over till everyone gets it.

So what are we expecting from this conference, hardware reveal aside? I wonder how is Sony going to showcase graphical differences on some crap-quality twitch stream.

They told me its supposedly released a week after the reveal

I cant imagine the retail price being any lower than £250. So Im fine with paying £50 more meaning I get it early :)

But you will be able to get it in like 5-6 days.
Some other shops might be also selling it a day or two earlier.
Just wait.

Would get the slim if it wasn't for the Neo supposedly coming out so soon after. I'm a sucker for new hardware and I personally think the slim looks sleek. Also, it doesn't hurt that it is suppose to run more efficiently too. Still, there can only be one and I got the Neo in my sights. Really hoping for October release.

Vega is the same as Polaris, but it has more CUs.

More CUs = bigger die size = less yield per wafer = higher cost per chip = not good for console business

I remember seeing something that show that Vega is a little different from Polaris.

Now that the slim has been revealed I'm starting to think that both Neo & Scorpio is using the APUs from the slim models plus a main GPU . Even if Neo is just 4.2TF it still might be using this setup but with 18 CU's on the APU & 18 on the GPU but that wouldn't explain the big PSU & big console unless Neo was rushed & they couldn't get it down to 14nm yet

I think they will have to reluctantly mention Teraflops to get their point over that it's more powerful than the OG PS4.
I'm also guessing they won't call it NEO either. At the reveal of the current consoles I don't think Durango and Orbis code-names were ever mentioned. Maybe just PS4 +

I don't expect a September 7 release (or even 8) for Slim.
Sony Spain for example hasn't ask wholesalers about orders yet.

you dont? But they are already now being sold in United Arab Emirates for 299$

it is shure now that the whole Thing was planned as a stealth release or as a "..and they are available now" Event at Sonys Meeting in New York.

Knack 2 stage demo Neo version vs OG PS4 version running side by side.
