Pokémon Sun & Moon | Info and speculation thread

OK that snowman is fucking dope. It's called dulfrost because it's based on a dullahan (headless spirit) which is why its head is detached.

I wonder if it's evolution will be a headless horsesnowman

I hope the snowman at least is real but eh, probably not.

Also what the hell is Rockaby

Please let that Snowman be real!!

Although, if proven to be real; it will ruin my Cloyster/Ninetails (ALOLA VERS) team setup that i had planned

I'm thinking of buying both versions for the first time ever, because I want to restart Pokemon games but I don't want to have to recollect all of the items each time. Have two games would allow me to keep one of them complete and the other free to restart. Does anyone else do this? Other than Joe, because I assume you have every single game.

You could pay 5 bucks for a year long Pokemon Bank subscription and just go with the one version.

Outside of not putting much faith in it due to being from 4chan, the boxing lobster seems like a tip off of this being fake.

For one, I'd assume that there would have been some mention of a rival for Crabrawler already, kind of like how Yungoose has some type of unrevealed Pokemon that he's rivaling. Second, while we've had similar fighting type Pokemon like Hitmonchan & Hitmonlee and Sawk & Throh, they were different fighting styles, rather than both being boxers. Lastly, while James Turner may be a designer, I don't think somewhat as esoteric/western as the handlebar mustache would really get brought up in a Pokemon design, which seems to be the main "thing" that sets the boxing lobster apart from Crabrawler.

But hey, who knows.

Problem is you would lose any items you might want.

I just got back into Pokemon pretty hard and I bought all versions of XY and ORAS. Planning on catching them all for the first time. I'm also gonna get Sun and Moon. I figure my first run through will be casual/my main game and the second will be where I try to make interesting teams to play with.

I always buy both versions. One main game and one for event farming, another playthrough etc.

I used to buy both versions for this reason (as well as the third versions whenever there were any), and then sell off the 'replay' game just before the next generation released. So I still have physical copies of Yellow, Gold, Crystal, Ruby, Emerald, FireRed, Diamond, Platinum, HeartGold, Black & White 2.

But this time I have all four Gen VI games and only one of them is physical, so I can't sell them off.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking. The main organic game that lives forever and the secondary one to use for challenges and any other idea you can think of. Might do a Nuzlocke with it.

That's what I was thinking. Pokemon games tend to keep their value fairly well, so I'll even get a bit of money back eventually. Even if I don't, oh well.

I'm doing it. Thanks for letting me know I'm not alone. (It's a Pokemon thread, of course I'd find people that buy both...)

And to think all of this was triggered by my legendary collection missing Xerneas. If I could find a cheap copy I'd already be running through it. I don't even use most of my legendaries, I just collect them like trophies.

Oh shit!

Any word on if Scraggy, Tyranitar, Crookodile and Krookodile, along with their evo lines will be in the games? Would pref. if all of them were in Sun as that's the game I'm getting...along with Psyduck of course.

Found this earlier. All currently revealed Pokémon from Sun/Moon besides Alola Rattata, Solgaleo and Lunaala scaled to their real size. Mudsdale seems so large, but that may be because most other Pokémon are so tiny. Also, lol @ Exeggutor here.

Exeggutor is insanely big. Isn't that bigger than most legendaries are? I don't really know the scale of pokemon since they have to fudge it for the games.

In Street Fighter, both Balrog and Dudley exist. One is the brawler, one is the gentleman. And that's from capcom 20 years ago. Handlebar mustache totally makes sense.

They can't be dumb enough to make that mistake twice.

they totally can but i hope not

It's not so much dumb as it is too time consuming and costly to remove all of the references to the main game in a demo. It's pretty damn common for demos and betas to have plenty of strings referencing unannounced stuff.

Why can't I find Solgaleo or Lunaala on this picture? It's making me crazy.

Well I'll give you a hint: Read the comment just above the image. :P

Arceus help me, this is why you need an Oxford comma. I read it as "everything except Alolan Rattata" and "Salgalio and Lunaala scaled to their actual size," suggesting they had not been shown to scale since their reveal.

Thank you for ending my torment.

That looks too big for Exeggutor. I know it's like 35ft, but based on other depictions it's nowhere near that thick.

Do we actually have any reason to believe all those pictures are to scale? Mudsdale looks way too big

It seems we're getting the SM anime announcement next week. Considering the September 15th episodes conclude the Flare arc, following the one-week-break, there are 7 episodes between September 29th and November 17th, when the SM anime will likely begin.

I wonder what they plan on doing. I guess 7 episodes won't be hard to fill. There will be the obligatory farewell episodes, and the last one will definitely be a prepare-for-Alola one. Some popular Kalos characters may also appear for one last time, and we'll get a glimpse of a couple Gen 7 'mons for sure. Still, I wonder if there's going to be any intermediate Kanto content. It's high time Gary makes an appearance to announce he'll be visiting his great-uncle in Alola. :p

There isn't going to be an episode on September 29th, and the synopsis for the October 6th episode makes it sound like that's going to be the point at which Clemont decides to leave the group. There might be a gap between the end of XYZ and Sun and Moon, too- we might only have four or five episodes after the Team Flare arc wraps up.

I can see them squeezing in an Alain rematch, Serena heading off with Palermo, Greninja going to train in the Ninja Village and Ash spending an episode in Kanto as well, which would be about all they could fit in. I'd be astonished if they didn't use Oak's cousin as the excuse to actually get Ash out to Alola, too.

Oh, right. There was a one-week break between AG and DP, and between DP and BW. Between BW and XY, there was a special non-Ash episode, followed by a one-week break. Though now that I checked it, there hasn't been an anime launch before the actual release of the games. So, it should be something like this:

October 6th: Clemont/Bonnie
October 13th: Alain or Alola teases
October 20th: Filler or Alola teases
October 27th: Serena
November 3rd: Kanto
November 10th: Kanto or (break)
November 17th: (break)

Not necessarily in that order. :p

I really like this new rival.

Looks like a return to Blue and Silver levels of asshole rival.

All those friendly people since then were depressing.

There might not be a break at all, too.

Oh yeah it's weird that the anime never used any new Pokemon as promotion this time besides the usual movie. They might do it in the last few episodes but it's generally been much earlier.

Not for a bit, honestly. Outside of Zoroark and Zorua in the movie, the anime didn't feature a single Gen V Pokémon before Best Wishes started, and Gen VI only got Mega Mewtwo Y and Sylveon for the movie, and a handful of episodes with Alexa and her Helioptile, Gogoat and Noivern towards the end of Best Wishes Da.

If they show off a couple of Alola Pokémon in these last few episodes, they'll almost exactly be following the promotion strategy from Gen VI.
