Also Patrick Klepek mentioned it a bit ago that final dev kits were going to be sent either on the Neo reveal or just before it.
Final dev kits as in no longer a prototype, and likely in the retail shell. Yes, the documents stated that the prototype 2 kits had the final spec, but that doesn't mean it's the final kit. The final kit is likely going to look exactly like the retail model of the Neo, whereas the prototype models typically are just plain looking boxes to hold the components.
And yeah, sometimes final kits can get a bump here and there, what we do know is we're not going to get a downgrade from the specs listed in that document.

I also notice from the same drawing that Sony have decided to avoid the boring old HDMI and CAT5 sockets and have adopted some exciting new proprietary designs! New cables all round! Hurrah!

The "sandwich" design seems to be a little take on the original PS2. Im sure itll look a lot better when we see the actual product. Also on top are those the Playstation button symbols scattered around?
Hmm, there's final kit and then kit with final specs... The distinction is worth making if were speculating on spec changes. Not sure which or what Wollan/Kenny were referring to though.

I think that those are the 'feet'. They are the same as on the slim. Nice touch to use the symbols. It should also result in more 'stability' than the three feet the original model has.

Seems odd that final specs would need to be communicated, unless something had changed.
Nothing in the leaks mentions PSVR, where did you get that from?

Hmmm maybe but if those are the feet and the drawing is correct that would mean the slant is going upwards versus down like the original ps4

I really don't see there being any real spec change. I think they are gonna get the clock up on that GPU a little bit and maybe get it to 4.3 or 4.4 TF but that's about it. Maybe get that clock up on the CPU and RAM a bit as well

You're giving the artist too much credit for super accurate drawings. The unit is drawn upside down and those are just the feet. The angle will be just like the PS4, according to that drawing at least
At best they use 8000mhz gddr5 ram and clock the gpu @ 1000mhz. That's how I see it, if they want Neo's price point to be $399.99

So, based on the most recent efforts of our resident Foxconn Michaelangelo, what's the consensus on the back ports?
My best case scenario is power, Ethernet, USB, AUX, and HDMI. Sorry to all those who wanted optical; I feel your pain

Or it could just be the same as the original model. No USB, one HDMI and an optical port.

Not quite. This always seems to get confused. Sony provide a dev kit that doesn't resemble a retail unit and a test kit that is in a retail case with debug software.
I posted these before but hopefully it clears things up:

I don't think Sony need to change the design of the dev kit. Possibly make it slightly taller and fit a bigger HSF? The test kit is something they would want to protect and not have Neo's case design leak because they want to reveal what it looks like on the 7th, not have it leaked by a random dev.
IIRC the PS4 test kit above didn't get sent out to devs until after PS4's first showing at E3?

It was a mix of three different leaks, Kenny, Wollan, and then another poster that isn't to my knowledge vetted.
Kenny mentioned they didn't have the final kits, Wollan days later mentioned the final specs had just been communicated to developers, then the other poster mentioned yesterday his developer friend reiterated Kenny/Wollan info but with added nugget of a spec bump.

that first link was a rumor that was quickly debunked and called out as crap.
the OsirisBlack leak simply mentions VR games that will see improvements, it doesn't mention anything about Neo being specifically for VR or "a big PSVR machine" as you put it
That claim was refuted by the article itself when it states "To date, those that have used a PSVR headset - including us - have reported good performance on what appeared to be launch PS4s" and we also got some input from devs saying that the statement is not true in the gaf thread for this article, which got locked.
And OsirisBlack doesn't say anything resembling the notion that "Neo is a big PSVR machine"

I didn't knew it was debunked, but OsirisBlack stated it's "Significant", not "improvment".
He also stated they will launch with PS4K, and Robinson (a game he stated) launched october 13th.

Edit 2: The No Mans Sky one is the final PS4 dev kit which included the upgraded 8gb RAM probably. It's the newer and latest model.

Now that I know it's debunked (as I mentioned in a post to response to you) I get it's not a big PSVR machine, sorry about that.

Still waiting for an explanation how Sony has a Neo dev kit out and the slim ready for retail with a brand new wlan chip and only one FCC application on file. The PS4 dev kit had been tested months before going out as did every single iteration of every console they've ever released.
Can they just send a dev kit with a wireless chip in it without getting FCC testing and approval done? Can they use the old kit and chip and send out updated internals?

Does your TV not have an optical port? That's how I use my Astro mixamp right now.
Really hope Astro make HDMI passthrough Mixamps next year.

The PlayStation meeting is 7PM for me in the UK, I'll be sure to prepare some popcorn for the date, it's going to be great!
I confused test kits (which are in retail shells) with final dev kits. But regardless, the ps4 got a bump from 4gb to 8gb (to the point where some devs who only found that out when it was officially announced at the PS meeting). While I don't expect anything like that as it's far too late for adding in/swapping components (nor do I expect any upgrade at this point for that matter), upclocks are still a possibility.

Could simply be that the current dev and test kit don't contain WLAN or BT chips? Or the FCC have allowed them to not be required to submit until after the reveal?
It's relative, it does seat over 2000 people though.Is it me but does the Playstation Theater seem kinda small.
