At this point Im almost willing to bet Sony announces a new slim and Rockstar shows off RED DEAD redmeption (PS4) and some footage of NEO GTA V for Spring/Summer of 2017...

Sony has no compelling reason to release a NEO at this point. They probably decided that since they will need to compete with the Scorpio next year that they have time now to release a revised NEO summer 2017 a few month prior to Scorpio with approx specs to what they announced.

I expect Neo in Late Spring / Summer 2017 with 5.2 TF.

2016 Will be PSVR and SLIM.

This give Sony a way to combat Nintendo Hype and Be close enough to Scorpio in specs to prevent people jumping ship.

Nobody is gonna be willing to tank their sales like ROTTR.

My final take on specs

I think it'll be pretty close to the leaked spec. Maybe a 2.4Ghz CPU and ~225Gb/s RAM bandwidth. Hitting 2.4Ghz would be a 50% CPU increase and I think that would go a long way in games with framerate issues due to a CPU bottleneck or lots of pop-in. I have high hopes for Sony's reconstruction technique using checkerboard rendering to hit a convincing 4k output at a lower cost, I just hope there are noticeable improvements on top of that and HDR. If they can do that, then I'll be absolutely satisfied.

I'd also love for the higher clock speeds to be allowed in base mode to provide performance increases in unpatched games.

That is the exact point they puckered up. The slim leak (and surrounding DF drama) was the straw that broke the camels back it seems to me.

Point is if they can be this silent when they choose to be then how/why do we get so many leaks in the first place? There must some allowance or leeway? Patrick Klepek did talk about how Sony handle leaks in that Periscope video he did which I thought was interesting.

I actually hope nothing else leaks given how close the event is now....

The problem is contracts with suppliers like AMD and manufacturers to make sure these things are already in production 4 months or so out prior to launch. Based on the FOXCONN guy, the Neo is already in mass production.

take this for what it's worth but yesterday talking to little birdie in the know at COD XP, final dev kits wont go out until the Sept 7th reveal and expect NEO to be higher than the original rumored specs. Late September/Early October launch.

I've had a few other winks and nods that NEO is out in Sept/Oct this year but this was the first time I've heard specs closer to Scorpio from some one on the dev side of the fence.

I'm honestly at a bit of a loss. I would have written it off from the random source originally cited, except I've heard exactly the same vague statement from someone with extremely close ties. The completely off-the-wall guess I included earlier in this thread, which I give stupidly long 1-in-50 odds to, is a way to chain two Neo systems in an SLI-like configuration. Everything else that comes to mind is similarly improbable, so I guess we'll just have to find out Wednesday.

Keep in mind neither is an insider/vetted, so take it all with a massive grain of salt.
