What if they really decided on a very small scale September reveal and we hyped it too much and kicked it into overdrive? Now they are stuck in a really bad place and completely unprepared for the onslaught? oh ho ho.

Why did I never think this is how they may protect against leaks? That's a perfect way to incentivize them to shut their mouths. But if something got leaked then they'd all open the floodgates

Aside from:

The existence of the console at all
Target specs - as detailed by GB/EG/Osiris
Developer conference presentation.

This has been s masterful control of leaks. Pretty much all of the anger & denial seen in the threads back in January has dissipated, and is now thirst for launch details, confirmed spec & price.

Were there any leaks immediately prior to the PS4 reveal? Same situation.

There's probably only a small circle of key people at Sony, developers & retail partners who have all the details, and they aren't going to be the kind of people inclined to leak unless given permission to do so.

It's called being professional & doing your job.

  • Uncharted 4 is a safe bet.
  • Street Fighter V is not as safe of a bet as Uncharted 4, but it's still relatively safe thanks to Capcom's long-term plans for the game.
  • Not sure about Bloodborne, but maybe.
For me, it'd take Street Fighter V getting a Neo upgrade for me to bite (since it & KoF are the main reasons why I play my PS4 on a regular basis).
 
This is my official prediction of the major Neo information which will be dropped on Wednesday. This guess is much more of a pipe dream wish than probability, but here goes:

The price will be $449.99 USD and it will release in Mid-November (say the 18th). The major title which will be released alongside the console and will receive "special" Neo treatment will be Red Dead 3. Rockstar still owes Sony an exclusive from the Agent debacle, and I think this will finally be their compromise. While it will release on the One and standard PS4 as well, the resolution and framerate will be demonstrably superior on the Neo version.

How can we call this no leak? We got spec, desgin, potential release date, full PowerPoint, all leaked but the price.
More like nothing else to leak.

Not that I believe that document is outside of being changed, but Sept 20th is late September IMO and that is post release patch territory if the document holds as leaked. But for all we know they changed dates a month or two later and now it's November/December, or Jan/Feb. We don't know.

Aside from an actual exclusive from Rockstar, this is one of the best alternatives they can ask for. If the console is in fact being released this year, they need a massive, previously unannounced game which will release alongside it.
 
a Neo mode requirement doesn't mean devs are required to make the Neo mode lit as fuck. plenty will just do the 4K checkerboard whatever and call it a day

They really don't. The thing will sell off the strength of enhanced graphics for bf1, tf2, cod, ff15 and every other title releasing this fall.

Yeah but publishers love bullshots and they can get away with that if they add a few bells and whistles on the Neo/Scorpio versions and showcase those

How do you know they "owe" them an exclusive? We have no idea what exactly went on with regards to that game.

Honestly it's still a question of if we'll see more than that and HDR support. I really hope that the console is capable of improving visuals and handling checkerboard 4k
