One question. If Neo will support 4K TVs, what kind of HDMI cable will be packaged with the console considering the one that comes with PS4 si HDMI 1.4.
Do you think it will be HDMI 2.0a, 2.0.b?

What kind of HDMI cable comes with the Xbox One S?
Don't know what cable comes with xbox one s (didn't pay attention when unpacking, nor am I using it at the moment). but I think it's a safe bet expecting a HDMI 2.0 cable with the Neo.

Or rather, category 2 cables (there are no 2.0aa or 2.0b cables)

He said that all that wiill happen Wednesday is Andrew Comes on stage to a roaring round of applause and cheers.

"Heheh Thank You Playstation Nation.."

*Crowd erupts into roars*

"Hehehe"

"hehehe"

*smiles*

"Hehehe"

*20 minutes later*

"heheheeheh"

*Yoshida Come on stage and bows to the crowd*

"I'm very sorry, but the Preystation Neo is not rearu."

*bows again*

................

"Oh but please understand here comes American we have acquired Mark Cerny"

*Cerny floats down from above, faint rainbow sparkles trailing*

*12 minutes of little girl-screams*

"I haven't quite figured out why no one at SCEJ will say it, so I guess I will. MEGATON."

But he also said that devs wouldn't get 100% access to the power of the new console & that it would be primarily for system , media & VR.

That sound like microcode controlled vector units to me

Nothing in that is even remotely hinting at your theory.

Read that yourself. 2.0a and 2.0b are the specifications, not the type of cables. A category 2 cable will work with either. There aren't specialized 2.0a or 2.0b cables.

Ah you mean 2.0.a and 2.0.b are for the TVS only and 2.0 cables can work on them? Good if that is the case.

Some of the 2.0.b features:

. Enables transmission of High Dynamic Range (HDR) video
. Bandwidth up to 18Gbps
. 4K@50/60 (2160p), which is 4 times the clarity of 1080p/60 video resolution

Now first and third are the most important ones especially if you have a 4K TV that can enable HDR and 60 FPS at 4K with 4:4:4 Chroma. Low entry 4K TVs don't have such features and you know how much emphasis they will put about HDR and the other features like with Xbox One S and Scorpio. I bet that there will be some 2D games at 4K 60 FPS on PS4 Neo which will require such TVs and HDMI cables.

A functioning Neo mode post-October isn't much. It just seems to be a requirement so that the game doesn't use the base PS4 mode. I'm sure the vast majority of games will have a Neo mode that's either identical to the base mode or one with an unlocked FPS option or something similar.

Which would imply to me that the base PS4 won't offer performance improvements in games with unlocked framerates.

That's my read of the situation.

Ah you mean 2.0.a and 2.0.b are for the TVS only and 2.0 cables can work on them? Good if that is the case.
Yup, pretty much this. It's more defining what the ports and what not are capable of outputting, and the "2.0" cables at the moment are able to transmit all the features that either versions provide.

Another interesting read in this French article: https://translate.google.fr/transla...r.fr/2016/05/25/hdmi-2-0b/&edit-text=&act=url

I just noticed that discretion the HDMI consortium has released new specifications HDMI 2.0b! Yep, another change is almost every year at this time! However, as for HDMI 2.0a, this concerns only the HDMI chipsets integrated into the devices. For cables, no change, they must always bear a minimum rate of 18 Gbps to be sure that all technologies are supported.

You were right about that part since a 2.0 category can work for any sub category (2.0.a or 2.0.b) but:

Unfortunately, HDMI 2.0b specification does not manage the HDR dynamic metadata, so it would take the HDMI 2.1 specification,

Then at that time we will need TVs using that new entry but now new category 2.1 HDMI cable of course.

Neo has some work then to be future proof.

With my limited time my predictions with paragraphs as requested but it's still a long read lol.

My PS meeting predictions:
Sony opens with the usual montage of amazing games coming out this year and early next year. The crowd claps and a few faces show disappointment preparing for the usual conference. Phil Harrison takes the stage announcing that he is back with Sony after hearing of the superior specs of neo compared to Scorpio.
The crowd goes crazy begging to see what Sony is now calling the PS ark of the covenant. Sony talks briefly how they sent a team of Sony ninjas to find the Ark of the covenant just before launching the PS1. Sony believed the Ark held the secrets to creating the most powerful console of all time.
Many years of failure led Sony to clone Nathan Drake into a real human who discovered the Ark last year. After stealing the Ark Nate sent for back up as Microsoft employees caught wind of the discovery. A team of Sony Engineers led by Mark Cerny developed a Genetically modified version of Bog Bosses DNA extracted directly from MGS1's game code to clone a new snake they code named Neo-Snake.
Shuhei Yoshida snuck into the undisclosed location along side neo snake to successfully sneak Nathan drake and the ark past Microsoft agents. At this point half the crowd is having seizures from the disbelief and a clean up crew is sent in to clean up all the vomit seeping closer and closer to the front row. Helicopters are now surrounding the building along with hostage negotiators pleading with Sony to stop the conference and let the attendees out. Sony refuses and Phil now brings to the stage Ken Kutaragi.
This is where things get bat sh*t crazy Ken announces that today he will be leaving Sony. He takes a knee and Phil pulls out a sword, the entire place grows silent confused as to what is happening. Phil raises his blade and cuts Ken's head off. Phil announces that Ken's years of service to Sony and his selfless sacrifice that was witnessed to millions watching online today has secured Sony the exclusive rights to the Onimusha IP.
Phil cleans his blade off and a trailer is shown, Is this Neo footage?! The graphics are unreal, the PC players in the crowd start throwing up blood in disbelief the PC master race is wounded. Phil announced that the blade that took Kens life would be rendered in game using Neo technology and available to those who preorder the new Onimusha. Now it's Kaz Hirai's turn to take the stage. He calmly steps over Ken's body as he's welcomed with a standing ovation and a very British hand shake with Phil.
Kaz announces that when he was tasked with restructuring Sony he knew PlayStation was vital to the companies success. He's pleased to announce today that Sony will now exclusivity be working on PlayStation and that all other branches in the company are now no longer a priority for them. The crowd starts growing tired and chants Neo, Neo, Neo!!! Show us the Neo!!!!! Kaz takes a bow and says as you wish..... The ground opens up and a box with a cloak covering it is now sitting in front of Kaz. A cloak?! What could this mean?!
The lights get dim and Kaz starts to rip his face off.... He falls to the floor and arises as no other than KOJI MOTHER F*CKEN IGARASHI!! It was him all along, the crowd stands once again in applause he grabs the cloak which now starts to look really familiar could it be?! Yes it is, it's Alucard's cape! Igarashi announces that all PS neo's will come with a copy of Castlevania: Symphony of the night 2!!!!
The FBI smashes through the ceiling and instead of arresting Igarashi they bow in his honor. At this point the Internet explodes! At least half of all nations are dead as their computer screens explode. Russia and the US have no choice now but to join forces and try to stop the Japanese power known as Sony. Nukes are flying towards New York and Sony has roughly 2 minutes to unveil Neo. Colin Moriarty and Greg Miller rush to the stage knowing time is dire. Colin alongside Greg announce that there is a new world order and that all who bow to Neo and pledge allegiance will receive 20 years of PS+ for free. The few people still alive in attendance bow and Neo is finally revealed. Neo sports 10 Gpu's with 15 gazillion cores that you plug directly into your brain. Once plugged into the Neo (Matrix) you transcend your body and are now one with the Neo. The computing power at this point is almost incalculable but Sony gives a rough estimate of around 2 billion gazilliflops.

Conference will start with a video montage of games coming out this holiday period closing with a transition to the PS4 Slim with a "Now at $299" (let's not kid ourselves about $249)

Then House will come out to talk sales numbers (probably 43-45 million by now?) and all that.

Discussion of their services (PS Now/Vue/whatever)

Talk about PSVR a little bit.

Then they'll start talking about the Neo.

Bring out Mark Cerny again.

Bring out a few developers to talk about it.

Show off a few games with differences next to them.

Ends with price and release date.

This is for dynamic metadata HDR. Static matadata HDR (which is the standard for UHD bluray movies) is supported in 2.0a and 2.0b.

2.1 doesn't even officially exist yet, it's being designed currently. Even the HDMI folks don't know what would be required to futureproof a product at this time from the sounds of things.

Being able to support current HDR, and 4k is good enough for a mid-gen refresh console.

I don't disagree. I have to see Static matadata HDR comparison inf ront of me to see difference to start with.

Dynamic matadata HDR cna wiat eventhough some TVS exist but I cna't see the difference in online videos: https://vimeo.com/164619204

It seems movie makers and game devs need some work to adapt their products very well for such new feature to work.

I thought someone was trolling onQ with that statement, then I realized it was actually onQ posting and he was serious lol.

Must say, this thread the last week has given me some 2013 level entertainment vibes.

Not feeling the hype tbh. I am more interested in their TGS presser next week. I don't see how a mid-generation jump deserves a PS Meeting, unless they are planning to talk about more stuff.

A mid generation jump happening for the first time (showing a compelling case for why people should buy it), a VR hardware launch in a month, a slim model revision, and a possible PS Vita revision. Good enough for a conference.

I have a feeling the rumored Vita revision will be announced at next week's TGS conference. The Vita-2000 was announced there shortly before the PS4 launched.

Any chance they will announce Early Access program on PS4 so devs won't be restricted to release their first playable version of their games or F2P games directly on PS4?

Wall of text. Sometimes I read at your posts and the back of my brain tingles.

How do you extrapolate that the price increase for PS+ is due to cloud rendering like really?

Its almost irresponsible. I know this is a gaming forum but doesn't accurate substantiated information allow for better conversation?

I don't know man $1,000,000 words coming out of a $5 mouth.

Maybe we should just till 9/7. But then you'll somehow post a patent and say you were right.

Hell yes, this is the kinda shit I want to read in this thread. Let's just go nuts on this last day, friends.

This is obviously about the Microsoft-Sony domain which will lead to a merger of the two companies. Microsoft will stop making operating systems to focus on making lollipops. Therefore, the PS3 browser will be updated with Cairo bindings. PS Vita will hit a second wind to overtake the 3DS. While Kaz has been doing all right, Ken Kutaragi named CEO of Sony and the world. He puts the cell processor in a refrigerator.

your shit makes sense tho.

Why is it that when other people speculate it's ok but soon as I say something y'all get up in arms lol

BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY THROUGH USE OF SPOOF CLOCK AND FINE GRAIN FREQUENCY CONTROL

http://patents.justia.com/patent/20160246323

Based on this Sony seems to have somehow come up with the process to create full backwards compatibility by vibrating the output frequency of the CPU.

Essentially this will allow the console to match the frequency of any available PlayStation console available in the timestream.

This will allow for an unprecedented level of backwards compatibility because you will literally be playing a PS1,PS2, or PS3 through time frequency fine grain virtualization.

Fancy stuff.

You guys think Sony will announce PS plus discounts on hardware and accessories at the meeting? I remember them sending out a survey that mentioned expanding PS plus into other areas besides software, I can see that as a good reason for raising the price and they can use that as a way to get existing PlayStation owners to upgrade to the Neo a bit more cheaply while still making money off the customer.

There is people speculating that Neo is the Nintendo NX & that you can SLI 2 Neo's together or stack the Slim on Neo & so on & there is never a personal attack on these people but soon as I say something they lose it.

Touché. Your posts were salient. I've seen some nonsense in this thread. Still waiting for my 4K UHD update to download.

I wrote some words about what I'm expecting. Some of the predictions are bold but I think that Sony are in a really good position and have the potential to really put a stranglehold on both Microsoft and Nintendo.

So excited to see what the conference brings. Such an exciting time for gamers.

http://press-start.com.au/features/2016/09/06/expect-weeks-playstation-event/

Also, does anyone have any thoughts around why Sony would opt to have their presser on the same day that Apple always hold their iPhone event? Would have to be planned.

Well played, sir. Well played.

Some of those posts were done in a joking manner and taken as jokes, the ones that were serious were laughed off as being ridiculous. And most of these people only popped up around this last stretch. You on the other hand, have been at it along with jeff_rigby way before this thread even existed, and some people seem to be growing tired of it and end up having an immediate reaction as soon as you post something.

Nothing in that is even remotely hinting at your theory.

Yes it does because if the APU is being used for the CPU & co-processors the devs will not have control of the co-processors it would be on the system level & the HWS would be updated by Sony using microcode to change the functions of the co-processors

You mean like when I talked about 4K gaming this generation & now we have 4K consoles coming out this generation? or how I talked about the 4K games was going to be up rendered & not upscaled & the PDF came out showing how devs can use checkerboard rendering & other cheaper rendering techniques to archive 4K?

Just because a lot of people join together to run their mouth does not mean that they are right.

You think this thread is crazy? Visit an NX thread sometime.

Yeah this thread is really tame compared to the NX ones. Almost everyone has been chill / respectful in here and even the big crazy dreams still just feel fun more than anything.

Them NX threads can get WILD

This might sound cruel, but Sony fans don't need the HOPE as much as Nintendo peeps.

For us it's like 'Hey, this Neo thing will be nice, but our fanboy spirits are already satisfied with 43mn WW sales and being the clear leader (again) in home consoles'

For Ninty fans (and MS fans to a lesser extent) the success of the next box may be a more pressing issue, hence greater crazy.
