I wrote some words about what I'm expecting. Some of the predictions are bold but I think that Sony are in a really good position and have the potential to really put a stranglehold on both Microsoft and Nintendo.

So excited to see what the conference brings. Such an exciting time for gamers.

Also, does anyone have any thoughts around why Sony would opt to have their presser on the same day that Apple always hold their iPhone event? Would have to be planned.

I gave a fellow Aussie a few clicks :)

Can't believe I've got to be up a 5am for this...

There is people speculating that Neo is the Nintendo NX & that you can SLI 2 Neo's together or stack the Slim on Neo & so on & there is never a personal attack on these people but soon as I say something they lose it.

There is a line between obviously sarcastic speculation and your particular brand of misinformation. The thing is you are decent at finding threads of information, but much of it you misinterpret the meaning or pertinence; leaving more knowledgeable individuals to clarify what's BS and what isn't.

Yes it does because if the APU is being used for the CPU & co-processors the devs will not have control of the co-processors it would be on the system level & the HWS would be updated by Sony using microcode to change the functions of the co-processors

Do you even know what microcode is and does? I mean, there is barely even a base where to argue with. This is just fantasy land, sorry.

I just hope that they use this presentation to show more of the games already announced, give some release dates and perhaps announce one or two new titles (first or third party, doesn't matter).

I know that this event is primarily to show off new hardware, but since I have no interest in buying any of it I hope they show some games as well.

Is his trusted source @tidux perhaps? Hé has mentioned in a PS I love you episode months back that he considers him a trustworthy source, and Tidux has been teasing a rockstar game on top of that as well.

I remember Colin mentioning Tidux in regards to name changes at PSX last year. Obviously that didn't happen, and I'm sure Colin said at some point that he didn't really trust him after that.

No I don't have a clue what microcode is or that it is used to change the function of hardware at a lower level.

I don't know that the 8 ACEs in AMD GPUs have now been changed to 4 ACEs & 2 HWS that now will be config by microcode I also don't know that one of the vector co-processors on the PS2 was mostly programmed by microcode.

Good, then we can put this topic by side.

I have been joking for the last few pages like everyone else but somehow I get everyone's attention by saying things are possible.

I just got back from walmart to prepare for the PS4 Neo brief tomorrow. I bought a few candles, my favorite lube and some tissues. All thats left is to wait a day, turn the lights down low, set some soft mood music, and sprawl out on the couch.

Is there anything im forgetting?

Thanks GAF.

This might sound cruel, but Sony fans don't need the HOPE as much as Nintendo peeps.

For us it's like 'Hey, this Neo thing will be nice, but our fanboy spirits are already satisfied with 43mn WW sales and being the clear leader (again) in home consoles'

For Ninty fans (and MS fans to a lesser extent) the success of the next box may be a more pressing issue, hence greater crazy.

And then you've got fans of video games in general who just enjoy being along for the ride.

Poster of Cerny so his timeline emulation technique blows your socks off?

LOL. I'm skipping through the PS4 announcement meeting and I realized the reason Sony's E3 conference doesn't have any PR speak is because it was all stripped out to pop up here. :D

By how much is it delayed? And is there a link I can bookmark ready for tomorrow?

Dunno 5-10 secondsa at most (depending to how strong the gear they use each time and how many viewers in both services). I hope it doesn't hurt you as if you were watching a live football match at the moment a player scores a goal in a penalty when everyone in the other room cries with excitement while you still waiting for him to be ready to shoot. That is what happens if a big announcement is will occur.

I think someone posted the link few pages ago.Normally youtube.com/playstation or twitch.tv/playstation

lol. I thought you meant something significant. I can deal with 5-10 seconds.

BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY THROUGH USE OF SPOOF CLOCK AND FINE GRAIN FREQUENCY CONTROL

http://patents.justia.com/patent/20160246323

Based on this Sony seems to have somehow come up with the process to create full backwards compatibility by vibrating the output frequency of the CPU.

Essentially this will allow the console to match the frequency of any available PlayStation console available in the timestream.

This will allow for an unprecedented level of backwards compatibility because you will literally be playing a PS1,PS2, or PS3 through time frequency fine grain virtualization.

Fancy stuff.
Well, the use of co-opted Gigastreamers, and flux capacitors obviously make this possible. The PSU will provide 1.1 jigawatts of power to allow the time stream continuum to run in real time.

Jesus this threads post and view count lol.
The thirst is so real.

Conference will start with a video montage of games coming out this holiday period closing with a transition to the PS4 Slim with a "Now at $299" (let's not kid ourselves about $249)

Then House will come out to talk sales numbers (probably 43-45 million by now?) and all that.

Discussion of their services (PS Now/Vue/whatever)

Talk about PSVR a little bit.

Then they'll start talking about the Neo.

Bring out Mark Cerny again.

Bring out a few developers to talk about it.

Show off a few games with differences next to them.

Ends with price and release date.

Sounds incredibly bang on the money to me.
A pretty tame and safe (dare I say boring) conference with an emphasis that 40m+ PS4 owners are not going to be left behind.

I'm skeptical of any new game reveals which is more where my interest lies to be honest.

You can download Neo to your PS4 by paying the extra 10 for PS+ or you can buy Neo & the PS+ comes baked in. You can also emulate more RAM

All this 'power of the cloud' talk is giving me flashbacks to 2013. What a glorious year that was for shite-talk.

I don't think $299 for the Slim will happen. $279 at least. It can't be priced at $299 when the Xbox One S has 4K and HDR capability.

I don't think those extras are going to matter all that much. I'd be pretty surprised if the S outsells the slim this holiday, regardless of its price or feature set.

time has come. Well, I hope so.

I'm not saying it would. Sony's whole strategy on PS4 vs Xbox One has been based on its better price point etc. They'd be silly to go away from what they did at E3 2014. That's literally what made the PS4 so successful.

It can be when PS4 is still the more powerful video game console compared to XB1S. :/

If all I was looking for was a console that plays games with better performance, PS4 is still the better choice even at the same price with XB1S.

PS4 has not had any "better price point" advantage over XB1 for close to two years now... During which PS4 has extended its sales lead over XB1 by over 10+ million.

Also, if we're looking at places like US/UK, XB1 had been better value for a while now.

This isn't really true. MS has undercut Sony on price countless times over the past two years. Sometimes significantly.

That has never been the strategy though? PS4 was priced at $100 cheaper than Xbox One to begin with. If you don't think this had a HUGE impact on initial sales of PS4 being better than Xbox One, and lead to it gaining a HUGE momentum, you're silly.

The PS4 Slim should be about consuming to casuals. Your casual gamer at Christmas is not going to care which has more power. Sony need to make it as simple as possible by making it cheaper than the Xbox One and literally leave Microsoft with no room to move.

The Xbox One S was the wrong strategy. It should have been about making it as barebones and as cheap as possible, not about adding 4K and HDR.
