Super Mario Run announced for iOS (Android later), Dec 2016, Screens/Info in OP

I don't even know how to react to this. I genuinely believed that, if Mario ever landed on smartphones, it'd be gimped or cloned from popular mobile templates, but I'm still surprised and confused and maybe even a little annoyed despite being a grown ass man. Above all that, though, I'm almost indifferent to it, apathetic even

and I'm going to download the fucking thing on Android without a doubt the minute it's released and will probably put more time into it than the massive stack of shrinkwrapped 3DS games stuffed on a shelf in my gaming room

What's the point in nitpicking the smallest negative?

To be clear: it's first on IOS.

Being upset about something preventing me from buying something is nitpicking?

Either way I wrong but I'm still not happy about it. Timed exclusives are never a good thing.

A Yoshi Touch'n Go sequel would fit better
Not quite hyped, but I hope this could act as a trojan horse for NX adoption and real games

Says in-app purchases right there, what are people talking about?

Depends. Is this going to be one of those apps thats default mode is "demo" and you use an in-app purchase to upgrade to the full game? Or does that snippet literally mean there'll be additional purchases to the main cost of the game? Can anyone on iOS clarify?

I would recommend trying the Rayman runner game if any of you haven't. It can be done well and Nintendo certainly has the talent to match what Rayman did.

This would have been a great opportunity to roll out a new look for Mario, but no, we gotta stick with that NSMB aesthetic with graphics that continue to look like upscaled versions of the original NSMB's assets.

why? does it make investors happy that they went with the lower install base worldwide?

Because it mean the begining of high profile nintendo ips on mobile phones, its a massive expansion on a casual market known for impulse buying apps, no matter how you spin it, this is more money in their pocket, truckloads!

Thank god it's not a F2P game.
(And hopefully will come to Android, but piracy is a big concern for that platform unfortunately, so it would probably become a F2P game.)

It's just the next step for Nintendo. They were way too protective about their IP's, now every child can play Mario on their mobile device and if they want the AAA-experience, they can buy the NX.
Off topic, but this is what Pachter always said about Nintendo and what their future need to be.

Did people actually not expect a Super Mario autorunner at some point on mobile?

That felt like the #1 most obvious game when they announced they were going to mobile and zero brands were off limits.

Exactly. It's a really good fit.

I wonder if it will be the best selling Mario of all time.

So, this is basically the cannon levels from NSMB2? I am totally down for that.

The timed exclusivity sucks, but what can you do.

Yup, it's the easiest, most obvious option.

The stickers shouldn't be a huge surprise. Nintendo's all over stickers in LINE for a while now.

I'm gonna buy them bc I'm a consumer whore, lol

Mario copying Rayman, this new Nintendo es weird (I think this means that the NSMB artstyle is here to stay, since this game is supposed to atract people to the main games, and that wouldn't work if the NX games looked totally different).

Cool, waiting for android. Not surprised with this though, knew it'd be coming eventually.
Just "sad" to see Nintendo on a stage with apple to announce a game.

Ok serious question...if they can put games on iPhone then why not Xbone/PS4?

Ok serious question...why can't Sony publish Uncharted or Microsoft publish Halo on a Nintendo platform?

There it is. Wow. That will make a fortune.

I'm not too knowledgable about mobile games but why do they come to iOS first and then android? Aren't there more android devices in the world vs iOS by a large margin? Is it like the console market where they pay for timed exclusivity?

I will probably buy it(i'm guessing its gonna cost a buck at max?) to support Nintendo releasing games for iOS.

But man.. notlikethis.gif ...
I honestly doubt it. Rayman Jungle Run is $3 and Nintendo values their products very highly. I'd say it could be $5.

Not entirely sure why people are surprised about this.

After Pokemon GO, Nintendo are going to be making tons of mobile stuff.

I like the way Mario moves. Looks like the controls are really right. In particular that jump series through the Goombas.

It looks highly polished.

It can mean both. For example the TellTale games are premium games. You pay $5 for the first episode and can buy the rest of the season in-app. If SMR is a premium game there will probabaly be expansion packs or characters you can pay for later on.
