It's been like this the whole fucking election. It's part of the reason I haven't been paying as close attention as I normally do. 2012 actually seems like a principled debate on the merits of policy in comparison.I find it ironic that on 9/11, the conversation around both candidates is about Trump clearing/not clearing rubble, and the timeline and announcement of Clinton's illness.
It's the most important political office in the world, and people don't give a fuck about foreign policy, security, the economy, people are talking about gossip.
I'm sure it's mostly Trump turning things up to 11, but this gossip/scandal shit was always going to be surrounding Clinton regardless, even if it's not her fault. There's just so much superfluous shit that sticks to her (again, justified or not), aside from her legitimate faults as a candidate. I'm still bitter the DNC didn't groom more alternatives over the last 8 years, because I don't think Hillary would be winning right now if it wasn't Trump (or Cruz) and I'm terrified about 2020. I think Hillary will be an okay president who will handle the gridlock about as well as can be expected (my reservations about her foreign policy aside), but she does not seem to be a great candidate.
