New Danganronpa V3 launches on January 2017 (JP) - New Trailer

gonna die in the 1st chapter

He does look pretty weak, honestly! This showing of the protagonist makes her look a bit more confident than I'm accustomed to seeing in Danganronpa leads too, though.

It looks great. The interface looks really nice. It looks like it snaps everything together really well.

Hype!
It was really obvious that robotguy wasn't the main character, i don't get how so many people believed it.
Monokuma's voice seemed a little underwhelming though.

I didn't realize until the direct feed trailer but Monokuma's theme is slightly remixed. As much as I love the debate themes and other trial music, I think they should use entirely new tracks this time instead of reusing ones from the first two games.

Back to cardboard boxes.

Feels like a step down from AE visually.

What? AE looked like shit for the most part.

Please let this stay 2D. Not everything needs to be polygonal - danganronpa has a unique style and im glad it's staying.

Looks great, hope they'll manage to localize it relatively quickly. This is a completely new story that has nothing to do with DR1 and 2, right?

Nice, hope it's releasing in English shortly after, don't wanna feel the despair of having to wait half a year for my sweets, sweet monokuma to return.

Oh nice, trailer already spoiled a death

Trailers for the other Danganronpa games switched characters iirc.

Yup, series reboot essentially

That's what they want us to think.

I bet in actuality Danganronpa 3 future arc will end with every character dying or succumbing to despair.

Then V3 takes place in the post incident despair empire in which kids are selected for mutual killing games for public entertainment organized by monokuma.

Then at the end we find out that monokuma and the mastermind is actually nagito and his plan was to cultivate the ultimate hope through these killing games so he could fight the despair empire from the inside.

You've heard it here first.

Good stuff. I loved the story in DR1 and 2 (have yet to watch the anime), but I'm glad they don't stretch it too far. Hope V3's story is self-contained.

Heh, I was going to add "... or that's what they tell us, at least" to my earlier post. Wouldn't be surprised if, in a big plot twist, the games actually were connected after all.

Yeah just like how we were spoiled on this death before DR1 was released:

I like to think that they wouldn't have changed the plot at all, just a straight swap for Hagakure with victim #1.

That said, the Danganronpa 1 trailers did spoil the first culprit, so it's not impossible that some spoilers exist in the trailer.

Oh god no. At this point, I don't want to see anyone from the DR1/2/UDG other than Monokuma ever again. Especially Junko and Nagito.

It's great to see the game have a female protagonist! I'm really excited to see what the talents of the new cast are.

Nope!!
I love them but no more. Especially no more Junko.

Liking how things are looking so far. Too bad a worldwide release is pretty much impossible. Hope NISA can manage something a bit faster than a year to get the localization out.

Interesting they are subverting the expectations of male mc/female helper with a female mc and male helper(I assume the blonde guy is gonna be the character that assists you). But it makes me wonder why the FeMC wasn't on that poster with the 3 characters I assumed were the central ones. I wonder if she's actually a fake-out who dies in the first case and the story gets taken over by twintail girl or robot guy since they were so prominent in the beginning.
If Junko has zero connection this might redeem the series after dr3 for me.

I hope they really do have little to no connection to the first games. They've gotten too complicated with the lore at this point, and a fresh start is needed.

If the past is any good indicator, they pretty much spoiled that the character *won't* die lol. Though it's Danganronpa so it could go either way (dead or alive).

Also speaking of possible first culprits...

No one's falling for the wig, Leon.

The turnaround for the Vita version of Danganronpa 1 was about 4 months. I doubt we'll get NDRv3 THAT soon, but I feel like Fall 2017 is in the realm of possibility.

Kaede's VA, Sayaka Kanda, is Junko's stage actress in the DR1 and DR2 stage plays and the singer of DR3 Future Arc's ED. She seems like a big DR fan so it's neat she landed the top role in NDRV3.

Holy shit, that protag design is SLICK.

I need this game like yesterday. Holy shit.

Any translations?

edit: I just hope that the dialogue is nowhere as cringeworthy as DR:AE.

A female protagonist! Great direction for the series to take. The release date was a pleasant surprise as well. Hopefully this means we can expect a localisation within the year.
