Forza Horizon 3: Review Thread

I figured this would be a good place to ask... I've never played Forza. Is it very online/community heavy? I'm looking for a single-player focused game with missions, races etc.

There's a very robust single player mode.

But there are online communities as well.

Here we go.

Dude. This game is a bit magical to be honest and I don't think I have mentioned the word classic in a review in years. But this thing went from 'Oh this is cool', to 22 hours solid playing later, finally crashing into bed like a fucking exhausted meteorite only to wake up and play it some more. Wheel and without it just friggen WORKS.

My meta prediction was 88... It's gonna be my GOTY tho if the demo is to go by tho which in the end is all that matters :D

grats on the scores so far tho Playground. Super pumped for Friday

I've barely touched the online stuff in FH1 and 2 and FH1 is one of my favourite games ever.

PS4 owner here and great seeing it do well, would give anything to play it on the PS4. Really hope Codemasters let EVO do something similar.

5/5

I have to hand it to Playground Games. They took everything that made Forza Horizon 2 great and refined it. There's basically nothing in Forza Horizon 3 that doesn't say perfection. From the moment you press start, the game throws everything it has at you, from flawless execution on or off the track, its presentation, and fun online session / matchmaking. This is, at least for the time being, the pinnacle of racing games for the Xbox One. Forza Horizon 3 has my vote as Game of the Year and if not that, easily the best title on the Xbox One by far.

Forza has always been great games. One of the best franchises that doesn't lose quality aftet being made a yearly franchise. Can't wait to try Horizon 3.

play it however you want. thats kinda how horizon is. online, offline, alone, with friends.

Wait, online was not available for reviews and almost none of these are review in progress?

Damn, this must be a REALLY great sp experience if no one even bothers about the online functionality lol

All the pre hype was getting seems rightfully justified, congrats Playground

EDIT: It was

Game looks fantastic but I haven't been keeping up 100% with it. Does this have vehicle customization (aesthetics/performance)? Could be a make or break for me.

That's bullshit that one garbage review can drop the overall score so badly.

That being said, playground games has created a classic is less than 2 years. What an incredible studio.

While Horizon 3 is very much its own thing, it’s indebted to a decade’s worth of arcade racers. I’ve mentioned Burnout Paradise, but you will taste notes of Split/Second, Blur, MotorStorm, and of course, Need for Speed, the racing equivalent of Madden. Despite their excellence, most of those franchises have been abandoned, their studios shutdown or assigned to more traditional fare. Forza Horizon 3 is racing on a track without competition. It would have been easy to coast to the finish line, but Playground Studios has taken the opportunity to take a joyride. With no rush to reach the finish line, and thus no obligation to take the best route, they’re seeing what new paths they can discover. How fortunate they’ve invited us to ride along.

Amazing reviews. I'm happy this is coming to PC. I'll finally get to try Horizon.
Now to decide between the standard or deluxe (not spending $99 on this)

Online functionality was certainly available - my and my partner spent lots of time dabbling in it. Don't know where you've got that idea from.

I notice a stark (and isolated) report of things like "myriad technical problems" (from We Got This Covered). I'm interested to look into that more.
