Forza Horizon 3: Review Thread

I don't care if some outlets review a game low for whatever reason, but that IBTimes review beginning with claiming that playground are just bored with forza and cars seems irresponsible

I didn't read that review but do they really say this? Nothing I've seen from this game looks like a developer that's bored. It looks like they put a ton of care and time into it

Why would he do that? Will the PC version bring down his score for the console version? Is he playing both versions and then going to write his thoughts on both combined for a score? That seems odd.
Yeah that's kinda weird. He can just review the Xbox version now. And if the PC version sucks or is better, do like he did with Fallout 4 and score it differently

I'm cancelling my preorder for this game.
And upgrading to the ultimate edition instead

I will wait it out for a year then bag the Scorpinho version at a gazillion K's per second...yes, I'm a patient type...

Should be very cheap in your country when you are in the #brexit negotiations with the EU at that point in time

Amazing that a company who appears to be bored of making racing games, could make the best critically recieved racer of the generation.

Lol

I wonder what they will do next. These guys have clearly established themselves as the best in the business right now.

Literally the first line of the review:

"Playground Games seems to be bored with Forza, and who could blame it?"

Wow. I get not everyone is going to like / agree on every game but that quote doesn't even make sense given everything we've seen from FH3.

Like you can't develop a game of this quality unless your team is passionate about what they are working on

Amazing that a crew that is bored of making racers will spend months in a tent in the outback to make the best clouds they can...

Become ms first party.
I doubt it, I heard an interview with the studio head a few weeks back and even though they have a great relationship with MS, he said they really enjoy being and independent studies. We will see, though;

Pretty sure that was on Unlocked a few weeks back if anybody's interested.

I might have to up my pre-order to the Ultimate Edition.

Aw yeah, can't wait. Actually going to attempt to dive in on the PC version first, but I've got it preloaded on my Xbox as a backup to that version possible not being great.

Fixed. Can't wait to see the
casualty
Special Thanks list in the credits for all the brave Playground employees that risked their lives in the Australian outback for some skyboxes.

lol that's so cool to me. Probably an underpaid job too.

edit:

I wonder if buying a wheel for this alone is worth it...Then I can also use it on Dirt Rally and Project cars...HNNNGGHHH

This wasn't even on my radar, but given the reviews, I might be picking it up this weekend. I'll wait to see how the PC version fares; if it's a broken port, then no thanks, but Forza Apex has me convinced they can do it justice.

2/5 from our reviewer, says it feels like Playground Games is getting bored of making racing games

not clicking but this is absurd. just going off the demo it is clear how much passion these guys have for both car culture and the game they made. i literally commented to myself all of this as i played the demo for the first time. even that was a stunning package, cant wait for the full game.

At first glance, one may be tempted toward sympathy. After so many years of video games refining and reheating driving simulations, is there anything left to do with mere cars? Perhaps nowadays perfunctory bells and whistles like Horizon's are the best and most we can expect from a racing game. But then DiRT Rally, released earlier this year by Codemasters (literally Playground's closest competitor since both studios are based in Warwickshire) demonstrated just how possible it is, even in 2016, to make the supposedly exhausted racing game still feel complex and exciting.

This guy should get iRacing.

Comparing Dirt Rally to Horizon is like comparing Arma to CSGO.

The absolute ABSOLUTE best part of these comments is some of the dirt rally dev folk have twittered how excited they are to get Forzah3. Its like the devs of the game someone is saying is better doesn't even agree.

MS doesn't know either, but they like to change their minds.

Whilst it's true that nobody know "for certain", it's not worth currently considering a Steam version at all likely (or within a decent timeframe) without reason. Quantum Break is something of an out outlier. There are people still waiting on Sunset Overdrive...

What does the different versions actually contain? Like, is there a season pass and what does the pass contain?
Base game ($60)
Game + VIP Pass ($80)
Game + VIP Pass + Car Pass (6 months of car packs) + 3 days early access ($100)

I wish they would have an expansion pass too because they usually release a couple big expansions to the games that are extra.

What's the difference between the VIP Pass and the Car Pass? Does VIP not get you the car packs?

Thanks! The store page made my head hurt.

What does the VIP pass do?

Looks like the standard will be enough. Dpn't care about car packs and XP/credit boosts.

What does the VIP pass do?

VIP pass gives you access to 5 (I think) VIP cars, also exclusive VIP events and gifts from Playground games, extra credit on rolls

2015 Ford Falcon GT F 351
