I'm also hoping for them to open up a public marketplace for their Amazon Lumberyard game engine (ala UE4 marketplace / Unity asset store) so I can sell on even more asset stores.

Well so far they've spent $970 million Twitch, $75 million on CryEngine, and presumably some ridiculous sum on Curse in support of it, so they might as well follow through.

Sounds great and a new player with deep pockets and big resources in the gaming space is welcome.

People have always been skeptical of Amazon whenever they've introduced something new, like even Prime TV & Movies, and now they're making Emmy winning TV series, so I'm looking forward to what they do.

Really interested in this (the concept, not the game, don't really have the PC likely and not interested in MOBAs or F2P hero games at all). Lumberyard has the potential to be really groundbreaking. Massively Online Singelplayer games. Where Twitch users can interact with the game of the streamer.

It'll be Dota 2 meets scribblenauts. A moba but when you go to the shop, it just opens a browser window to Amazon and you type in what you need to buy, pay real money and you have it in game

You can tell Amazon is new to this industry when their first notable project is a AAA F2P game.

I hope it does well but I'm already doubting it will. But Amazon has enough cash that it shouldn't be a big deal.

Maybe that shows that they have actually been paying attention.

This is the same company that competes with Google Play Store by offering free Android apps. And it looks like they have upped the ante by offering Android apps with all IAP already available.

Them doing a F2P game for their first AAA game seems to be right up their alley.

Too early to tell. When Stage 2 launched it had a peak of 50k+ CCU, however since then it dropped down to ~5k. TR also has yet to implement monetization.

So Amazon has been sending stuff out to popular fighting game personalities for the event in two days. It could be nothing, but I'd imagine there's a reason they seem to be featuring Sajam, Vicious, and Filthyrich among other prominent FGC members. Possibly a heavier dose of true competitive mechanics than one would typically expect from standard MOBA or slasher fare?

Front page of twitch has an ad for this with two of the characters, cartoony art style. Also saw a short ad for the game that showed the pirate lady. Definitely looks like exactly what you would expect from a new hero slasher/shooter game.
