Pokémon Sun & Moon | Info and speculation thread

The Squirtle and Charmander lines not getting Alolan forms while Bulbasaur line getting them would be really weird.

Charizard gets two megas and Venusaur gets an Alolan form. Blastoise ignored again.

Actually, the faded ones might be Pokemon that appear in the regional dex? The starters are a bit suspect, but I think most of the non-faded sprites are Pokemon (or part of the same line) we've already seen footage of?

Well the Bulbasaur line is the most "tropical" of them all considering the giant flower on his back. Blastoise is an amazing design... but he is pretty boring to use in the actual game. He's pretty slow, and while he can tank, other Pokemon do a better job on that front. Since there are so many water Pokemon, you really need something to stand out. Even his mega was by far the least useful mega of the Kanto starters.

The hard part about the leak is that I doubt non-Kanto Pokemon will get Alolan forms. But we don't know what the faded/nonfaded list means, it's all just assumptions at this point. If those are all the Pokemon in the game, some rough counting shows that there will be about ~350 in the Alola Dex, a bit down from the 457 (thank you Bulbapedia) in the Kalos Dex. One of my favorite things about the Kalos region was the abundance of different Pokemon from all generations, so I am hoping we get something similar in Alola as well.

Wait what do the transparent sprites mean? I heard people on twitter a while ago saying that they were the Alolan forms but I'm not sure.

The Pokemon at the bottom are supposed tro represent lines we have seen in the game, with the transparent being ones we've seen as objects. I posted that not too far up from your post lol.

For everyone talking about MissingNo being in officially, I was always a fan of warupua's concepts of what it could potentially look like, given it were a bird (because the surrounding banks are the trio)

Since we're talking about what's in the trailers, I just remembered something: The first trailer showed off a regular Meowth, but we know that Alola Meowth is a thing, so either:
-That's changed it to the Alolan variant since the game was revealed
-You can catch both Alolan variants as well as the original (most likely Gen I-only) without having to go through transferring them from Red/Blue/Green/Yellow

Doesn't the protagonist's family move in at the start of the game? It's also possible that the Kanto Meowth is a family pet who came with you that you don't get to catch/train.

that was your family cat, you moved to Alola

I think completely removing the glitchy/digital aspect would remove its identity. It should at least have a cloud resembling the gen 1 glitch around it.

Darkinium is hilarious.

Gotta admit though, I've been eating good since XY.

I've always liked the designs of the evolution stones and collected them since Sapphire, this is icing on the cake.

Those names are terrible. Just use the translated style there and name them with -ite. Would have sounded much better.

Poisonium < Poisonite
Firium < Firite
Normalium < Normalite
Darkinium < Darkite

I could go on.

If I had to guess, they're named that way so that to differentiate them from mega stones. If mega evolutions are still in sun/moon, they could also give exclusive z crystals to species that already have mega evolutions too.

Wait for the names of the Pokemon-exclusive moves.

Pikachium/Pikium! Eevium! Raichium!

Can't wait for Charizardium, Mewtium, Lucarium, and Greninjium.

Ghostium's symbol seems wrong. It's light blue instead of purple like the crystal and is shaped like a wing? Misprint?

Anyway, I dig these Z-crystal symbols of all the Pokémon types. People would always co-opt those TCG symbols and make up crappy ones for the other types but finally nice to see some more official and standardized symbols.

About two and a half more hours till the next POKEBOMB. Early August showed off Alolan forms, early September revealed Ultra Beasts.... so are we poised for a major announcement today? Perhaps Z-Forms/Synchro? Honestly I'm not sure what other big features they could announce in the next six weeks. We're not really missing anything that's expected after customization and Pokemon Amie were talked about last time. I'd like to hear more about the online features personally or new Global Link updates.

A lot of people are saying the starter evos are coming today, because there was a Japanese reminder about tonight's update that asked "What starter are you going to pick?" I don't even remember the last time they revealed final evolutions before the game came out, they certainly didn't for XY which is ironic since Greninja became one of the most popular Pokemon ever.

For funsies, here is the most recently compiled list of Chinese Riddler leaks (9/22). He also mentioned that something about the Z Ring will be announced soon.

The Corocoro issues before BW and XY's release revealed the starter evos, but since next month's Corocoro releases before Sun/Moon, they could hold it off until then. The game will probably be leaked at that point anyway.

This month's Corocoro will have something to do with Type Null, which might be exclusive for a week or two. So if the starter evos aren't revealed today, I wouldn't expect them in Corocoro either, since they would've likely hinted at it.

I'm going all in with predictions.

+Starter evolutions (at least the second tier)
+Z forms
+Alolan Butterfree
+DEMO AVAILABLE RIGHT NOW
