The game looks like not my cup of tea, but that Twitch integration is fantastic.

The overlay support is fantastic. Often streamers will have to get weird hacks to get even a partial amount of that functionality on their stream.

The custom lobby via use of a hashtag is another great idea. Not just the custom lobby though, but being able to know those who requested to join are either followers or subscribers to your channel and you can decide who you let in.

I will echo that new world sounds interesting.

But the fact these are MP is well.. hrm. Twitchcon obviously.

It's not surprising that New World is MP, there are already games out there that are basically "Build anything you want in this world".

The one that I know is Wurm Online

And it's prime-Twitch material.

The stories that you hear are insane. From someone deciding to be a simple hermit and ending up being kidnapped by a gang of bandits and held for days, to a thief stealing from an entire town and framing another town for the action, thus sparking a war.

Since everything is player made and run, you'll hear of people organically forming different factions with their own culture, allies, enemies, and subgroups within the factions.

It's always running in real time so the best factions have players from around the world that could make sure to alert others in case of an attack, same as EVE Online. The game looks like ass, and plays like ass, but it still has so many people enthralled by its potential. If New World looks good, performs well, and plays great, it could be huge.

I would bet good money that that's what Amazon is hoping for this game to be. Something that some Twitch streamers stick with, making entire communities within the game, and having thousands of followers play the game to join them.

Amazon bought Twitch for esports and this is how they think sports should be handled, they probably hired some ‘real’ sports video producers for this or something.
