Limited Run Games - Putting digital games into your hands

It literally doesn't matter to them if it sells in one week, a weekend or one minute.

To quote Doug from LRG's twitter:

"Really need One Way Heroes to sell out this Friday so we can make Spike Chunsoft happy and open the door for more Japanese devs!"

So, I believe it does matter, at least to an extent.

Anyways, got PS4 copies of both. Funny that I essentially bought a PS4 in part for the LRG stuff. XD

Of course it helps them if they sell out in 24h or less. It means demand is high enough to justify even larger print runs in the future and at the same time makes their brand more appealing to developers that are harder to convince.

Nevertheless, the quantities that are currently left aren't very big, they'll definitely sell out. From a consumer point of view, it's great to see that everybody who wants a copy, can order one now. Also we haven't seen Vita games lasting that long for a really long time.

I mean they hoped that OWH would sell out quickly, so no idea if that matches their expectations.

This is right on target! We're at a point where we've been able to send Spike Chunsoft the payment they expected - we just need to sell the rest to turn a profit at this point. :)

We're currently sitting at about 17% left, for being our two biggest combined runs - this is really solid. I do think releasing too much on one day impacted the sales speed a bit, but overall we're happy with the results. For the record though, we're going to try and avoid releasing six games in one month in the future.

Different note, people didn't seem to encounter any issues with this run to get mad at us about which is really nice. We're used to seeing some hate mail and death threats. This is always a pleasant change of pace.

That's awesome. Im glad I could finally place an order myself and ship it to a friend in the US. Im gonna do another order soon for replacement cases and sleeves for some of the games I have at home that reached poorly.

if I could order another vita copy (only ordered one) without paying for shipping again, I would.

Great to hear! I love hearing the inner workings of you guys, since so much of the industry doesn't like talking about numbers, sales, etc.

I'm a HUUUUGE fan of the franchise (have the original GBC game CIB, digital copies of the sequels on multiple platforms, and dropped $200 on the Half-Genie Hero Kickstarter) and definitely want to add these to my collection! :)

Wow ! You must be so happy that LRG finally releases these two Shantae games :D
I'd love to own à GBC Shantae but now is not the time. Maybe one day I'll afford to shell out $700 to buy one. Or, more realistically, i'd love them to include it as a bonus in one of the most recent games ! They didn't mention anything for Half-Genie Hero did they ?

Really cool to see a release on both platforms last longer than an hour, honestly. I know it's fun seeing how fast these sell out, but I'm glad pretty much anyone who's interested has a shot at getting a copy this time.

Pls give us Phantom Breaker Battlegrounds

Yeeesss. At this point I'm pretty confident this is going to happen and I'm hyped beyond belief.

(I was that one dickhead who paid like $100 AUD for the Japanese Vita 'physical' release only to find out it just came with a download code in the box)

It's really a crime that Shantae isn't on Vita

I'll get the PS4 ones for my collection but Vita would have been 100x more awesome

In general I just wanted to say that recent releases have been awesome. Söldner, Rainbow Moon, OWH, Shadow Complex, Shantae

The earlier games were cool too, but these really hit all the right notes for me. Looking forward what's coming in the future if the quality keeps up

Likewise, I'd love to see the original included in one of the newer games. Even cart only versions of the original cost a ton, I'd still love to get a boxed version one day though.

new email from LRG:

Limited Run Games said:
We're down to our last stock!
Thomas Was Alone and Mystery Chronicle: One Way Heroics have hit less than 15% left at www.limitedrungames.com! All platforms are still in stock, but very little remains!

As is our usual policy, since we've passed the twenty four hour mark - all limits have been removed. No orders will be denied.

Once this stock sells out - that's it! These games will never be reprinted. Don't miss your chance to own them now.
Found the bolded part interesting since I haven't been around since the first game; Has that ever happened before with a LRG release?

I'm not sure if that's the optimal outcome from LRG’s/SpikeCun’s point of view, but as a consumer/collector I really like how this print run was large enough to not immediately sell out.

It'd be great if we had an option to add to our orders without having to pay for shipping again. I'd probably spring for a copy of OWH on PS4 (already bought Vita).

Yeah. Maybe 4,000-5,000 of these is not a good idea.

Based on?

It will always depend on the game. According to LRG Soldner had 12,000 add to cart hits.

And again, they have already stated in this thread that the sweet spot is probably selling out over the whole weekend.

Sounds like pretty much the perfect amount as a consumer, everyone who wanted a copy of one of the games should have had plenty of time to get it, LRG had for sale ~18k copies and have sold through most of that within a day. I'm glad LRG mentioned the amount of releases potentially having an affect too, I wonder how many people ordering are largely the same people who have ordered previously and September alone has cost $150 excluding shipping - pretty expensive especially when Brexit has affected the $:£ rate.

"We'll see you in October for Shantae and Volume!"

I liked volume enough to buy 1 ps4 and vita copy to keep sealed and 1 copy to open for the manual lol. rip. Also they have some more announcements i bet.

Hope OWH's pace for sales doesn't much up the release of future Japanese games. I care about those way more than Western indie stuff.

Edit: Ah, I now see that it looks like things are fine in that regard.

For the devs/original publishers, I think it's fine if the game sells out at all. They don't really benefit from a quicker turnaround. As LRG said, they could pay Spike the agreed sum right now, the rest is for themselves.

10k across platforms definitely looks like the upper limit for smaller games, with 8k being a safer number. That should still be a good number to get some JP games on board. Hopefully

If that's too low for some, maybe wait until next year and see if the audience grew a bit :)

Went for the Vita release of Mystery Chronicle OWH, almost against my better judgement because it's the original PC game that I love -- not the Spike Chunsoft remake.

If there was just the one batch I would have missed it.

I'm sure some people did ask it before, but is a Hyper Light Drifter physical release by LimitedRunGames possible? Did they comment on it?

I just bought it today, and damn, it is incredible!
I need this game in my collection. Physically.

It has been on their wishlist ever since the formation of the company, but I believe another distributor, iam8bit, will more than likely handle a physical edition assuming it would ever come to fruition. LRG recently described them as a competitor after they wept Rez Infinite from their grasp and the production company already has previously established ties from a pseudo-physical edition along with other merchandise. However, I wouldn't be shocked if Limited Run did manage to negotiate their own release on the chance the developer, Heart Machine, hasn't promised any license exclusivity for the property to iam8bit.

Anyone else just rocking PS4 titles? I stopped after SMRPG of buying both copies and only stuck with PS4 titles.

I only see people here collecting for vita lol

After moving, starting a new job, and having to severely curtail spending and time spent on games, I'm back on the wagon with my first purchase since Saturday Morning RPG. Nabbed a Vita copy of OWH. Can't wait to play it, and it's great to be supporting LRG again.

I'm in the same boat as you! Since I missed Breach and Clear, I've been sticking with PS4 copies the whole time. Only Vita copies I've bought have been Soldner X2 and OWH.

I've bought every Vita game, but I did buy New N Tasty and Shadow Complex for PS4.

Not really a PS4 collector on purpose, but don't mind having a copy of something I'm into.

Any idea what the final cost of The Silver Case will be with basic shipping if I live on the west coast? I am also not sure if tax is charged. I know it's 59.99.

I only buy what I want but if it's on Vita and runs well, I'll buy it on Vita.

So far, I've only got Soldner and Shadow Complex Remastered, which were both exclusive to a single platform, but I picked up One Way Heroics and Thomas Was Alone on Vita on Friday.

Yeah! I'll sign my username to being a predominant collector of PS4 copies whenever they're available. Unless there's some sort of extra incentive, I'll always side with the home console experience. On the other hand, I'll reiterate that I actually bought a Vita as a consequence of this distributor, but I'm reserving my selections to platform exclusives like Söldner-X 2: Final Prototype. The prospect of VA-11 Hall-A landing on a cart was a literal system seller from my perspective but, if it never becomes a reality for whatever reason, it was a worthwhile purchase for Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward alone.

You know, I totally forgot to mention this before but Spike Chunsoft's One Way Heroics is actually licensed and that license is set to expire on a certain date. This means that you can fully expect Mystery Chronicle One Way Heroics to be delisted from Steam and PSN within the next three years, it's just a matter of time. If you're waffling on buying one of our last PS4 copies, take solace in knowing that you'd have permanent access to the game regardless of any delisting.
