Wikileaks has been co-opted by the Russians, and Assange has spent much of the past decade hiding in an Ecuadorian embassy cupboard to avoid a trial for rape.

They may have been a force for openness and transparency at one point, but that point is loooonnnngggg behind us by now.

Bear in mind Wikileaks has been riding on other's coat tails for a while now. The poster child for whistleblowing through leaks is Snowden exposing the NSA, and that's not Wikileaks. This was done in conjunction with journalists and went through editing, redaction of sensitive and irrelevant information, etc.
