Giant Bomb PSVR stream | It's always Summer in PlayStation VR Nation

Yeah. Dude's got an iron stomach when it comes to VR. This seems all sorts of fucked.

He shrugged off that rollercoaster game. he survived that bad tron runner thing. he sat through like 6 hours of stream... twice. This has broken him in like half an hour.

Debating whether to keep my pre-order. It's very odd that there really have not been any tracking issues mentioned anywhere, when this thing has been demoed so many times, even in public at places at Best Buy. Makes me wonder if there is something amiss with the camera, maybe something in a recent PS4 update? These aren't normal tracking issues even for basic camera based tracking.

Proper green screen studio lights operate at a specific frequency to prevent jitter appearing on film. I'm not sure if games media have high end lighting but if they do it should be ideal.

2: probably the fact they aren't playing in a controlled environment

When I used the headset on multiple occasions, I never once experienced jitter of any kind. It's so sad to see that somehow this headset went from being really good, to being a mess for tracking.

Yeah, that seems weird. Maybe it's the lack of a controlled environment like GRaider81 mentions? Or changes to the final hardware? Quite a shame, if these can't be ironed out. Quite a waste of software development resources as well if it doesn't catch on because of issues like these.

Man you're right, there's been like 50+ Best Buy kiosks that somehow work well. I feel like something isn't right here and there's no way Sony would release a $400+ product like this...

I agree and I've demo'd it at BestBuy twice and didn't experience any of that bad tracking. Everything, including the controller tracking, was rock solid.

My own personal experiences were in line with Jeffs experience. Rock solid stomach and the PSvr screwed me up royally good. Sad that wasn't something they can fix. Vr sickness is real kids

That just means that GB and the small handful of other outlets having issues need to deal with their setup.

Their issues can likely be traced back to that.

And they're the professionals who know how to do this stuff.

How is it going to translate to people's living rooms? It will surely only get worse.

I remember Jeff having no problems staying in the Rift or Vive on those launch streams. Him bailing so quickly worries me a lot as someone who gets motion sick quite easily.

Yeah, I just don't think I can risk that much money and maybe get sick playing it. I'm going to wait and see a bit while it's out in the wild.

So is a big part of the jank/sickness issues because Sony is allowing 60 fps games? The competition set the suggested standard at 90-120 fps for that reason.

Yeah but with this kind of stuff I always assume a lot of people are idiots and/or have low standards.

Lots of people said Kinect was fine, when in reality it was a piece of shit.

If enough people are talking about issues, then I'm putting more weight in their experiences.

Fuck outta here! Disney Fantasia is the best game ever made!

I tried five demos at Best Buy of this and it all worked great, but hearing that this isn't an isolated experience makes me glad I've thrown my hat in with the Vive.

Still, I do want some of the more niche Japanese things that are coming out on the PSVR

Not to mention he was up for the most extreme experiences with those headsets.

If Sony had some magic launch patch, that's going to alleviate some of these tracking issues then usually they pre-brief the media. They've sent this out there to die.

Yeah, seeing him bow out after less than an hour is depressing. I'm now real glad I dropped my preorder for this.

I can't watch the stream right now, but the helmet or camera could be faulty, Sony should send somebody there asap.

Using the same old Move controllers seems like a real crippler from Sonys part.

It just seems like the camera itself cant track the controls + the headset all that well.
