PSVR Review Thread

Here is Peter Brown's answer, senior review editor for GameSpot, when he is asked if he has experienced any tracking issues.

That was a very categorical denial...encouraging, but then again some of the other reports (albeit in the minority) are the opposite.
One thing is clear though - PSVR is more susceptible to environmental conditions than either of the two other main alternatives.
That's something I will be able to live with considering how much less money I have to spend. Taking into account the money I will need to spend on upgrading my pc, the Occulus and Vive are totally out of the question for me. Heck, even the PSVR will probably out of my budget looking at my bank account...

I have never played it, so I don't really know much about it other than videos.
Which is all the more reason you should get it and play it for the very first time in PSVR. You'll be a pioneer in the greater experience even though you've never played it before. In Rez PSVR, we are all on equal footing. We all will travel this audio-cosmic space in wonder and awe. I wish this was my first Rez experience tbh.

I just found out about SportsbarVR today and I'm definitely in day one. I'm surprised there aren't any other really social, mess around experiences like rec room or that demo Sony did about a year ago.

There are some party games and I am sure there will be more coming after release.

BTW I just added Battlezone to my preorder list. Tapped out at the moment except for some impulse digital titles.

Any word on Eve:Valkyrie? Looks good but not many people seem to be talking about it. Makes me think somethings up with a $60 launch title.

with the amount of people second guessing this and cancelling orders how is this thing going to take off? there is nothing in the pipeline for months that will attract and change peoples mind. Once its out and in the wild excitement will drop and it will just collect dust in stores.....

There are reviews out for that game. Consensus is awesome first impression but repetitive and little to keep you coming back. I assume it would be much better if it didn't cost full price or if they tried to put a decent single player in it.

Where are you getting this from? There is plenty of content coming. Go try and order one online now. It's still sold out.

Ever the optimist, are you? :P I wouldn't say you couldn't be right, but keep the doom'n'gloom once we get actual numbers, won't you?

Yeah, but those are reviews for the Oculus version that released in April I think? Apparently, there's more content to be found here. But I'm not so sure. I'm waiting for some impressions on the PS VR version, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same consensus.

As for the person asking about pool Hustle King has a VR version coming out and this seems to be the more thorough pool experience while Pool Nation (Sportsbar VR) will have pool too, but also darts and other bar games with more planned in future patches.

I'm picking up:
100ft Robot Golf
Rez
Rigs
Superhypercube
Thumper
Batman VR
Driveclub
Until Dawn
And probably a few others I'm not thinking of at the moment

Just got back from trying PSVR at Best Buy for the first time (played Eve: Valkyrie, though I did have the opportunity to try the new demos they added today). It was fantastic. I was so afraid I'd feel queasy. I felt great throughout the playthrough. Can't wait to buy my headest (hopefully next week!).

I see. I guess it gonna be Until Dawn, Batman, and Tomb Raider VR mode to start off with. Better wait on Eve for a bit.

Great to hear. I still haven't tried any VR but there's supposed to be some PSVR demo kiosks coming here eventually. I think I'm just going to take a chance on it if there's none by launch

I think PSVR being the only one I play will be good so that I won't know what I'm missing with the high end PC sets

Are you seriously extrapolating data from posts on game sites to the general retail state of PSVR? That's nuts. A research firm just released they're expectations that PSVR will sell 2.6 million by the end of fiscal 2016. Sony is going to have a hard time keeping up with demand in the short term.

At first, I was a bit worried, because it was very blurry, as if my eyes were squinted. Then I physical lowered the headset and it all came into focus. For a second, I though I was gonna need glasses. HAHAHA. But, thankfully, with a little adjusting, I got it just right.

Yeah Greg talked about this a lot on the latest PSILY , glad to hear it's very adjustable

Lol yeah moving the headset up and down to get the right position is key, I thought it would just be the forward and backwards movement of the lenses but if its too far up or down its blurry. I was worried first too but its really quite good when its on right.

Have there been any reviews for RIGS? That game looks like a sure hit for a MP PSVR experience. The impressions from demos were really good.

Check out impressions of Driveclub and Battlezone. And if you like puzzle games and jenga try Tumble. I remember playing Tumble a lot with the move on the ps3. Easily one of the best use of move. On Vr it should be great.

Eve looks great. For full price it's just too much for me. I wish they had spent the time to add a good single player campaign. So much potential.

Made a special trip to Best Buy to check out Rigs for the first time. Apparently, they cancelled their demo for today.

Dammit... I really wanted to get a chance to try it before I buy it. The embargo is giving me cold feet.

Huh, so cinematic mode is only in an empty black space? I guess I was getting it confused with the oculus or vive where there was a theater or you could be on the moon, or really tiny and have a screen. Hope they add some stuff in later.

I think they simply can't do anything but a black background with the orignal PS4 as there are probably no resources left for that when running a game.

I guess the different embargo times for games are mainly used to not have all the reviews and coverage hit at the same time.

I hope that's the case. I had read somewhere that Rigs was shaping up to be a potential nightmare for motion sickness so I was worried they might be attempting to keep the lid on that.

A surprising number of the launch titles are just plain not searchable on the PlayStation store. I'm trying to throw a bunch of titles on to my wishlist to refer back to when my headset comes next week, and quite a few don't even have a listing yet.

A bit annoying, but I guess it just means we'll have to browse on launch day a bit more.

Thanks. I think the upgrade is around £7

if you check on the store you'll get 'your' price. For example, DC VR is £16 for me :) but Hustle Kings and Stardust are also £16 (I thought I owned them, but I guess that was on PS3) :(

There's just too many games and also Eve/Rigs & Battlezone prices are too high IMHO

I mean, there's a wealth of impressions out there.

To be brutally honest, if you haven't experienced VR before you're going to be in love with it for at least a few weeks. If you've tried or own a Rift, you'll probably be pleasantly surprised by the hardware and SDE. If you own a Vive, it's just going to be a disappointing but comfortable headset.

Oh, I've tried PSVR multiple times. I was looking to try Rigs specifically. Apparently, they've started adding more games to their demo stations.

These are great reviews. I decided not to jump in on PSVR in favour of seeing what MS brings with Scorpio, but these are extremely promising responses for what PS owners can look forward to.

Glad to here people are enjoying it for the most part. I definitely enjoyed the time I've spent trying out different demos at Best Buy. Guess I just need to finalize my setup here to try and prevent some of the tracking issues some have been having. Card just got charged today and I can barely wait!

If I have the extra $30 at the time, I will definitely do it.

Yeah I had the same experience the first time I tried it out. The rep didn't set it properly and I didn't bother adjusting it myself for whatever reason so everything looked out of focus. Couldn't even read the text unless I turned my head in an awkward angle

Every time after that I adjusted it myself and I didn't have that problem anymore. Everything looked in focus

So.. do you think all those people saying PS VR is blurry, etc.. would it be what they mean by that, I mean for those that tried it only once or twice, or are these people just being picky?

Because when I tried it I thought it was fine.
