Battlefield 1 Early access,Road to Battlefield 1 streams (BF1 prior release thread)

Four hours in thoughts (plus like...20+ in the beta).

St. Quentin Scar: Best map, at least to my tastes. Conquest to me is about maps built around all game elements, balanced across a diverse range of capture points. Scar epitomises this.
Sinai Desert: I actually think it's a pretty solid map once you get the right idea of it balanced alongside BF1's nuances.
Amiens: "I have no fucking idea what I'm doing": The Map. Seems okay, if very, very infantry and urban focused.
Suez: Junk garbage that is hopefully culled from every CQ64 map rotation.
Fao Fortress: Pretty cool, but very open, so it's a sniper wonderland. I don't feel the open areas flow well into the fortress, not like Sinai into the town.

Points of concern:
- I don't like the tank nerf. I blame dumb, lazy ass players for this.
- Starter gear feels weak and off, like the beta. Particularly the starter medic rifle.
- Healing is still neglected. DICE have borked this bad.
- Honestly, I like the cleaner aesthetic of Battlefield 4 a lot more. BF1 is insanely gorgeous but a lot of effects are sampled cheap (balanced in abundance) and the IQ lacks that sharp clarity of BF4.

It's a good game. Like the beta I'm super excited. Unfortunately Scar is the only map to really jump out to me. And really, I don't think the class abilities/balance is as fun and interesting as BF4 out the gate. BF1 rebalances itself as you start to unlock shit, but those opening few hours are dull.

Hoping for more like Scar. Not expecting it.
Healing neglected huh still huh. I'm assuming you're included revives as well. If so I'll probably wait to pick this up next year sometime.

Dont agree with him really. Medic is pretty usefull now again.
Revives matter again in CQ. With the ticket loss. And you get revived alot. Now they fixed the revive icon. Healing is great also. You can throw the little med bag pretty far towards teammates with a single button. Very easy to see also if the need health. I am racking up a ton of points because of that

Oh, so it's fixed? The icon pops up for all dead players and revives work again?

Because how fast matches move and people go from flag to flag there is very little point in AoE healing crate, just spam those small healing pouches to everyone you see. Reviving is so-so because moment player dies he puts Space bar down making him unrevivable in few seconds. If you don't stand on people as they die you are unlikely to do revives.

It's same as it was in alpha and beta.

Jup. Everyone gets a icon now by default with a timer when it ends. Like i said a couple of days ago. In the first match i got revived more then in the whole beta.
Well, I'm back in then. Thanks.

I was never one for the crates anyway.

I have no idea what that even is lol?

Completely uninstalled everything to do with nvidia, redownloaded the geforce experience thing and now it seems that is fucked as it keeps popping up theres been an error and i have to restart it all.the.time

It is a 3rd party display driver Uninstaller that cleans not only the driver but also registry keys and hidden stuff that can sometimes corrupt new driver installs. Pretty much the best way to wipe it clean and reinstall.

Sounds like you need to use it now anyway. Just download it, open it, choose safemode and your PC will reboot automatically into it. Then just choose Nvidia (or AMD if you're using that) and it will clean and reboot. Then download and install latest driver and only install the driver+PhysX unless you actually use Geforce Experience.

As a casual graphics who're who loves Battlefront for the spectacle and less over complicated unlocks, is Battlefield 1 easier to get good at than BF4?

There were like 30 do bars grinding at any time and the best upgrades to level the field were like hefty unlocks that took lots of grinding and messing with attachments

I kinda like Battlefront where you see a stat and description and are pretty much good to go at grabbing the gun that everyone else is winning with after a dozen matches.

Ok thanks, just ran it, installing new driver now, fingers crossed it even fixes geforce experience let alone bf1,I do alot of recording for my youtube channel though shadowplay so it kinda borked me!

Ok geforce experience is working just fine now thank god so thank you for that guys, but battlefield is still fucked, never had a problem like this before where a game wont even open :/

Holy 1942! All up in my veins.

Holy shit the soundtrack is absolutely incredible.

Yep.. I can't stop listening.. it's so epic! That was from the Alpha I guess. I'm curious if any of it has changed between then and now.

Here's a couple that I think are from the early access:

Love love *LOVE* that the main theme is worked in so prominently. After all these years, that theme from BF1942 still brings back great memories.

Another great track, softer but well done.

Do we know who did the soundtrack this time around?

Medic feels so useless trying to harm your enemy if you need to engage. Especially the starting gun. My lord I can't hit the broad side of a barn. Please tell me it gets better (and what to look for) because I always love playing medic classes.

Also on xb1 it says press rb to throw bandages....um what? All that does is spot haha

Mondragon baby. Still good.
And yeah you can throw with RB to a friendly who needs health. Do it all the time. :)

It seems simpler than BF4. You earn warbonds when you level up. You can buy most things with those warbonds. You must level up each class to be allowed to buy some weapons. But is not that complicated and each class only have 10 levels.

Ah, and the Loot Boxes are only for visual enhancements on weapons. When you unlock a weapon it comes with all its modifications available.

I really wish that the unlocking for weapons on DLC's would be that easy.

Yeah, it's "Q" on PC, which is also the spot button. It's context-sensitive.

I have a cool weapon skin in my inventary, how do I use it? I only see an option to destroy it for scraps

Edit: nvm, just found it. That's so dumb though, why can't I do this while not in a match

im kinda disappointed aswell of the weapon choice as medic.. worst part of the game tbh

I thought the medic class had the best weapons, the ones I want to use the most anyway. It's the closest feeling to Red Orchestra 2, just need hardcore mode so the damage is increased and there's no spotting.

Is it just me or is the airship super OP? It's like near impossible to kill, moves and turns fast, and is a death machine to anyone below it. It's almost a good strategy to just give the capture points to the opposition and get the airship and dominate the rest of the game.

I wonder how they're going to implement DLC maps into Operations. Like, Giant's Shadow comes out in December, do they implement it into a current operation or what? I have to say, out of everything, Operations is what I'm looking forward to the most.

Yeah revives have definitely been fixed.

Also yeah light tanks feel basically useless Bow. I've still managed to do pretty damn well on the heavy tanks however

Ok, after prologue and first, boring story, campaign gets much much better. So far, with brilliant MP, my only complaint about this game is the fact that there are shit tons of graphical glitches, texture bugs and physics sometimes go crazy (playing on X1). Kinda expected from BF game but it doesn't mean it should get a free pass on it.

Here's the bonus screenshot from me

This poster needs to get added to the loading screen. I constantly run out of anti tank grenades/ammo for the rocket gun :D

Btw is it possible to toggle the HUD on/off? I know you can do it using console commands but some dev said that they'll add a HUD on/off option IIRC.

If implemented, Giant's Shadow should be part of Kaiserschlacht operation. It is after Amiens. Battle of Amiens occurred on August 8 - 11 as part of the Hundred Days Offensive. And Giant's Shadow is based on Battle of the Selle, which took place on Oct 17-25.

BTW this is what I would like to assume :p so take it with a massive gram of salt!

Unless they fucked with the medic weapons I don't see how it could be bad. I really enjoyed it and beta and found the weapons to be good.

Just played Operations. I thought this game was good, and now I am sure it's the GOTY for me. Everyone play Operations. Conquest what?

P.S. Starting medic weapon is fine. It has a learning curb yes-it's not spray and pray--but it's deadly once you get the hang of it.
