Battlefield 6 - Reviews Thread

It's a shame that once again the campaign is bad. I've played through the entire campaigns for BC2, BF3 and BF4. All of them are way behind pretty much every COD campaign. BF3 might be better than COD: WW2 (which I couldn't finish - so boring) and COD: MW3 (remake); maybe COD: MW (remake) and Ghosts as well. But none of them come close to the best COD campaigns.

But this is first and foremost a multiplayer game so expecting a good single player experience just makes no sense to me

That IGN score dragging down the Opencritic and Metacritic avg is a dick move, but they did the same for Black Ops 6.

But BF campaigns are always shit IMO. Skipped V's campaigns apart from the German Tiger Tank I, for the vehicle unlock.

5/10 for BF6 SP from ive seen, looks like fair score. looks unfinished and like an indie game, in terms of the gameplay.

I don't mind the campaign serving as some sort of glorified tutorial for the main affair, which is the multiplayer, however I do take issue with braindead AI and zero replayability.

CoD hasn't been much better in recent years but they make up for it in sheer production value and novel, if gimmicky, gameplay sections where you do something other than clicking heads.

Genuinely disappointed that the campaign review is bad. I'm one of the few people who actually buy COD for their campaigns as I don't really play multiplayer.

BF is one of the few franchises that could drop campaign altogether and nothing of value would be lost. It started as a MP-only series, it shouldve remained a MP-only series

The only good campaigns we got from it were the two BC games, and that was mainly because that duology was intentionally meant to dog on CoD and frankly that just worked for me.

So the trend looks like this...

Open Beta 1: "Battlefield is back baby!!"

Open Beta 2: "There may be a few niggles."

What? The game is excellent

BF is not COD. It will only get better with every patch. Altho this time they start from a really polished state unlike most BF launches
This reminds me of the discussions around Halo Infinite multiplayer. All the die hard Halo fans were acting like Halo was back at launch, but they failed to realize that the highwater mark in 2007 wasn't going to cut it in 2021.

Battlefield is too repetitive, has bad progression, and doesn't give non "head clickers" anything fun to do except hold trigger while healing a tank, and I'm being sarcastic about how fun that is. It looks nice and polished, but that doesn't keep people engaged.

It'll have a big launch. It'll probably get a Holiday bump which could push my December prediction to Jan or Feb, but these games just don't have legs for most people today. BF6 is Axl Rose releasing Chinese Democracy wondering why people aren't receiving it like Apetite for Destruction.

But maybe I'm wrong. We'll see.

you are just like those cod streamers who needs killstreaks to get clips lmao. BF franchise is popular for a reason. Maybe not cod levels, but still huge after more than 2 decades

I had fun with the Beta.

I'm just way more interested in what retains engagment than I am about week 1 sales. BF6 is going to have great week 1 sales.

Vince always cooks- so im not surprised the overall game is great.
Stinks about Campaign. The way I see it - obviously their goal was to resurrect this franchise, and they have done that properly and then some with the multiplayer/hype/attention. With that locked in and a massive foundation for the next version, i feel like they will be in a better place with campaign the next go around. Not an excuse- but they put most of their effort on the most important side for this genre currently.

Well, considering the hype and positive buzz I thought BF6 would've hit that score.

I guess the mediocre singleplayer campaign messed that up for them.

Maybe Arc Raider's will get that 90 metacritic.
No, it's because unbiased reviews don't exist anymore..people, even a large chunk of reviewers, go in with an idea of what they think the game is, and score it based on that rather than the quality of the game.

...you can't review a game like BF in the short time they have to play it even more so when they are playing bots.

anyone who played the beta knows as much as a reviewer does. might have even spent more time with it.

I don't know if you bother reading the reviews, but there's another "return to form" , "back to basics" situation like with some other game some time ago. These guys literally have to say what EA tells them to, what kind of review practice is that? I hate this game btw and give it 1/10.

I was going to ask how Cold War was, since it was on my list due to the 80s setting with Reagan.

Cold Was enjoyable a bit shorter than the BO2 and BO1 which are my all time favorite COD campaigns from Treyarch (besides MW 2007, MW2 2009 and MW 2019 campaigns). It introduces newer narrative elements which I thought was cool. You should check it out!

I played 2 or 3 missions from the campaign. It's basically COD — everything's exploding all the time. It's like watching Fast and Furious: it's dumb but enjoyable.
The multiplayer is god-tier, my god <3

Mannnn…..Stfu 🤦‍♂️😂

I don't know how IGN are allowed to review 20% of the product and release a score that brings down the games average. That's insane in my eyes. Why didn't they do the same for BLOPS 6? Review just the campaign and not the zombie mode or multiplayer and release a score of 4? Like how is no one calling them out?

You are wrong. Battlefield games last for fucking years and there are still tons of players playing the older titles. I don't know where you make up half the shit you do.

What's this bullshit of having a online connection when playing campaign? If you can't get a connection it makes quick resume redundant, absolute nonsense.

The game is actually decent only played campaign so far will play multiplayer Sunday.

There will be a drastic drop in population over the next 3 - 4 months. BF6 won't challenge the top PvP games in terms of player base / retention.

That said, yes there will be a sizeable player base once it platues, in part, because Battlefield has no competition in the larger scale, combined arms genre.

i'm surprised with how disappointted I am about the campaign. I guess I was hoping for something as good as at least BF3 or BF4 esp knowing Zampella was in charge.

And what is with both Cod and BF campaigns being so short these days? They're never more than 6 hours and usually more like 5 ...just wish we could've had the total package for a change- great campaign and multiplayer

Seems this is undercooked on both the campaign and multiplayer to be honest, it plays well though and looks good.

We're talking about a concrete military shooter here with a clear direction, stop the terrorist organization country, it reminds me a lot of medal of honor.

I think the campaign has its issues, there's effort in dialogue from Dice, what this means is battlefield bad company games had important campaigns with chunks of good gameplay, here it's endless battles and that's not a problem, there's interesting tank battles, and I really liked being locked in a group with codenames "Gecko" and "Dagger", "Everest".

I wish the command features for your squad mates was more than just throw a grenade, or cover fire.
