Four hours in thoughts (plus like...20+ in the beta).
St. Quentin Scar: Best map, at least to my tastes. Conquest to me is about maps built around all game elements, balanced across a diverse range of capture points. Scar epitomises this.
Sinai Desert: I actually think it's a pretty solid map once you get the right idea of it balanced alongside BF1's nuances.
Amiens: "I have no fucking idea what I'm doing": The Map. Seems okay, if very, very infantry and urban focused.
Suez: Junk garbage that is hopefully culled from every CQ64 map rotation.
Fao Fortress: Pretty cool, but very open, so it's a sniper wonderland. I don't feel the open areas flow well into the fortress, not like Sinai into the town.
Points of concern:
- I don't like the tank nerf. I blame dumb, lazy ass players for this.
- Starter gear feels weak and off, like the beta. Particularly the starter medic rifle.
- Healing is still neglected. DICE have borked this bad.
- Honestly, I like the cleaner aesthetic of Battlefield 4 a lot more. BF1 is insanely gorgeous but a lot of effects are sampled cheap (balanced in abundance) and the IQ lacks that sharp clarity of BF4.
It's a good game. Like the beta I'm super excited. Unfortunately Scar is the only map to really jump out to me. And really, I don't think the class abilities/balance is as fun and interesting as BF4 out the gate. BF1 rebalances itself as you start to unlock shit, but those opening few hours are dull.
Hoping for more like Scar. Not expecting it.
