Trump Refuses to Commit to Accepting Election Results

Throughout the campaign, Donald Trump has continually complained that the election is "rigged" against him. When asked during the final presidential debate on Wednesday whether he would accept the results of the election, Trump refused to commit, saying, "I'll look at it at the time."

Trump went on to say that Hillary Clinton should not have have been allowed to run for the presidency, nor allowed to vote. When pressed again by moderator Chris Wallace, Trump replied, "I will tell you at the time. I will keep you in suspense."

Clinton called Trump's answer "horrifying."

There's not enough "everything is on fire" GIFs to represent the Trump Campaign right now.

David Firestone via FiveThirtyEight said:
The debate is going to move on to standard debate subjects now, but it’s impossible to forget that a truly extraordinary moment just occurred, one that will become the signal clip from this debate and possibly this campaign. A candidate representing one of the two major parties refused to accept the outcome of an American election. Think of the implications of that: Not only does it risk civil violence on the part of supporters who will be similarly encourage to resist an election, but it undermines the most fundamental democratic institution on which the country is based. Imagine the reaction of countries struggling to achieve democracy when a candidate questions whether an American ideal is legitimate. The political system will survive Trump, but the cynicism and doubt sown tonight will take a long time to heal.

Simply incredible, what a disaster. Go fuck yourself, Trump.

He sounded fucking stupid during that question especially. Just say yes even if you dont mean it. What good comes from not being able to admit you would gollow the proper decorum?

The fact that this is quickly trending is both scary and great. It is drawing attention to just how unhinged he is. But, it is showing how unhinged he is.

What a vile, pathetic, petulant baby. Anyone who supports him should look deep inside at the character failings that have allowed their brains to reach that conclusion. Because you just might be broken as a human being.

Technically someone already made this thread earlier this week, it's just that we got it 'sorta confirmed' now.

I think he's going to accept it then anyway, he just doesn't want to lose face to his backers yet. He's gonna say it's rigged and leave it at that.

This is going to fuck over even the minimal chance he has of winning anyone over while solidifying his base. This is the big thing we're taking from this third debate, not foreign policy, positions on the second amendment, or a woman's right to choose.

Serious question from an outsider: what can he realistically do after the results come in and he refuses to concede/accept them?

Is it a surprise?

Trump really can't accept anyone getting the better of him. He has a history of that. His ego won't let him do so.

Worse he's playing to the extreme right who won't accept anything else either.

He can't do anything except what people are scared of. Encourage some of his more crazed supporters to commit violence in response.

Even if there were evil forces that planned to steal the election somehow, they would be bailing on the idea now because they just don't have to - Trump is losing just fine on his own.

Outsider as well, but I think technically there is nothing for him do to except asking for recounts.

Practically he can make people riot, which in a absolute worst case scenario ends in a Civil War between red and blue states.

he's going to indirectly cause someone to be hurt or killed over this election, as a result of his statement tonight.

Trump incites violence to angry crowds at his rallies. Imagine what he is capable of when Hillary handily wins the election, when he has already egged on "second amendment people" to "do something about it."

His words are toxic and dangerous.
