Link looks so cute in SS =)
Man, this shows just how ugly TP was. They nailed the look of the Twilight realm, but everything else just looked so... urgh. I mean what is up with Link's face there? To me the difference in those two pictures is last gen / next gen quality.

Although since TP was technically a Gamecube production that's factually correct, haha. You know what I mean.

I wouldn't sat TP is ugly. I definently showsa its age due to the realistic artstyle. And I don't see a problem with Link's face. Looks fine to me :\

I don't see anything wrong with Link's face either. Oh and it seems Link is slowly developing a unibrow.

Ritos get around too. Rito mailman gets places, as do Valoo and Prince Komali in one cutscene. Salvatore also shows up at another island. Tingle and his family (especially if you use the Tingle Tuner). Plus there are implications other people have traveled, such as the Pictograph shop owner and the school teacher that gives you the deed to that island. Oh, and that guy that gets a part time job at the post office, wherever he's from. And that foreign merchant that dressed like an ice climber.
Don't forget that one binoculars guy. That reminds me outside of the transitions between island and ocean and the smaller scale (but both of these are hardly the game's fault) I think Phantom Hourglass did improve on the ocean style of travel.

Well I agree that there is slight issue with Link's face in Twighlight Princess, I disagree entirely that there was anything wrong with the graphics. It used a nice, dark, moody colour pallet that fit the tone of the game perfectly. And frankly, I prefer by a wide margin the melancholy, moody Zeldas (LttP, LA, OOT etc, over the cartoony happy Zelda's).

Which is not to say I am not greatly looking forward to Skyward Sword, as it looks to me like it has a nice balance, and it remains to be seen how dark and moody it might be in places.

It's important not to get too grandiose with the realism when making a Zelda game.

Wouldn't want to end up with a Zelda-equivalent of this:

I'm very happy with the style. It takes the best out of TP and WW.

Actually, that's pretty cool.

I think it's too much to hope for a way to spend rupees often unless they make hearts really rare. I don't see Link getting too many customizables and such.
There should be magic items which use rupees instead of just having a separate magic bar.

So why should they change Link's model? How about they change the enemy models and the trees because they look atrocious even if SS Link looked like his TWW counterpart. SS Link looks fine in the world with that type shading and color. A lot of anime use bright colors with semi realistic looking characters.
That would be the best course of action. Those red Moblins look awful.

Actually, there are ALLOT of differences between TP Link and SS Link so I think your mistaken. :/
It's TP Link reskinned. Here are the changes: baggy pants, different boot bottoms, different belt buckle, hair is slighltly different.

City in the Sky was the high point of TP, along with about a thousand other things. Nice try but no thanks.
I always thought it was pretty much agreed that City in the Sky was one of the worst temples in the game aside from the boss battle. At least, that's what I thought from posting on Zelda Universe. Personally, I think the temple is atrocious from the music down to the silly puzzles that require no risk.

Snowpeak Ruins, however, is easily in the top 10 greatest Zelda dungeons.

this I can agree with. if SS has more temples like this, I be very happy
Seriously, it was at that point in the game that I realized 'shit, this game is amazing.' The soup making mechanic (that's what it was right, soup?), the snowboarding thing, the incredible boss battle. I need to replay TP. :lol

And the mini-boss in that dungeon + the dungeon item (a genuinely unique item). Fucking incredible.

I will never consider Twilight Princess to be a great Zelda game, but it does have it's moments. If the whole game matched the quality of Snowpeak Ruins, it would be a classic. Temple of Time and Lakebed Temple were also pretty good.

Also, Midna's desperate hour is a very memorable sequence.

It is pretty much TP Link, but I did notice a few other minor differences.

-Ears are shaped differently (now have a curve to them)
-Different collars on his tunic (is more V-shaped) and his shirt (doesn't come up his neck, is V-shaped)
-No forearm guard on his sword hand
-Fewer pockets on his belt

It would have been much better if they had disabled enemy music during that sequence, which almost ruined it.

TP's dungeons own and aside from some assy looking textures (Hyrule Field most notably) the game can look quite pretty. Especially on Dolphin with proper IQ! Unfortunately on big HDs is where it can look ugly.

Damn.

Anyway I thought the music was brilliant, it was very subtle and atmospheric. Not really trying to be catchy, but to give you the "sense" that you're up really high in the sky.

The only thing I think they really need to work on visually for Skyward Sword (besides TREES LOL LOLOOLO) is Link's facial expressions. Wind Waker's Link had the most amazingly emotive face I've ever seen in a game. His eyes tracked everything, and any situation would elicit a unique and wholly gorgeous bit of facial animation.

Link's face in the Skyward Sword model is pretty much completely dead by comparison. I think this is a big issue since Link doesn't say two words and his face being used to express things was perfect. Right now his zombie dead face creeps me out in Skyward Sword.

Hopefully when we see story stuff his face will emote more, I mean even TP Link emoted quite well (even though his face and eyebrows were kinda creepy).

I love Twilight Princess and completely agree. City in the Sky is a really mediocre dungeon. All the puzzles suck (except for the very last one where you drop from the room above in the bottom one, which is ironically the best puzzle in the entire game), the boss was cool but super easy, the tool was rad but used in the most boring way imaginable. The dungeon layout and visuals were terrible. And they introduced SKY CHICKENS, which is the worst thing ever introduced to the Zelda series ever.

Yeah but even during gameplay Wind Waker Link's face was always, always on the move. It was so amazing.

I mean, I love everything else about the style so it makes sense to me that they also make Link look equally as expressive as Wind Waker's link. I'm not concerned about it. It's just the only real distracting thing about the package right now from the videos I've seen about the game.

I like the idea of dungeons in the sky, so believe me I was super disappointed. Literally the entire game I was so super hyped to get to that dungeon and boy was I in for a shock :lol

you people and your City in the Sky hating is reminiscent of learning that Santa Claus isn't real.

... both events tragically hurt you? But I do think City in the Sky was a high-caliber dungeon. At the very least, the mini-boss and boss were thoroughly entertaining.

I honestly don't understand the hate.

I think it could have been better, but only because sky shit is amazing and can always get better. Absolutely no mystery why I'm so excited about this installment, considering the subtitle and the theme of the game. :lol

Figures of speech, etc.

City in the Sky is absolutely the worst. Music, aesthetics, everything was just terrible. And it took forever to beat.

Snowpeak Ruins is great because it wasn't just some random temple, but a real place that had a reason to exist in the world. I think Goron Mines was was really good too for the same reason.

the Ooccoo were the Zelda team telling everyone that the game isn't serious business, I loved it.

you're into Zelda lore? these fuckers built Hyrule. Deal with it, losers.

Totally agree. Gravity defying puzzles plz.

Well could it at least be a dungeon like... closer to space, but not in space? Like, in the lower levels of the dungeons you see dark skies, and then when you reach the upper tiers and the boss, you see stars. Yum.

Also, the boss for City in the Sky was a let-down.

I've fought a three-headed giant Deku Baba thing, a mutated Goron, a giant eel with an eyeball mouth, a giant dinosaur devil skeleton (with a flying skull and the ability to summon undead soldiers), a mutated Yeti woman turned into a crazy ice... thing...

and the next two bosses are a big spider and a big wyvern and ugh did they just run out of ideas or what here

Just finished Phantom Hourglass for a second time. I really hope Skyward Sword takes note of the creative bosses and item use. For a game that does a good few things very wrong (Ocean King Temple, combat controls), it does a good few things very right.

Oh, and ditch the compass and map.

I thought the boss could have been more epic, they had the right idea with the hookshot sequence but you should have been able to attach to the dragon and fly around and shit during the fight, god I hope they do something like that in this one.

I like dragons and I like lightning storms behind dragons so i was just mainly disappointed that the boss fight itself was so completely boring and easy

But the thing is, every boss in TP (and most modern Zelda games) was easy--including the final boss.
