The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess 100% decompiled

and that could not have been a small undertaking! But as of yesterday Twilight Princess has been 100% decompiled back to its matching source code so now, and it wont be quickly, the game can be ported to PC as a code port of potentially a static recompilation bringing Twilight Princess into the realm of all the other recomps and PC ports we've seen in recent memory. Definitely some amazing work that will lead to a ton of innovation in the years to come

I wasn't high on this game when it first released but it has aged well (or maybe it's due to this breed of Zelda dying out) in my opinion. I love it now. I try to play through it once a year. It's up with OOT and MM for me.

I think it's underrated. Not the best Zelda out there, but certainly not the worst. I'd take it over Wind Waker everyday. And, Midna >>>>> Navi.

It's... A bit uneven.
I think it's both the best Zelda game in its best moments (some of the best dungeons in the series, for a start) and close to be the worst when at its lowest (some portions of it move with the brisky pace of a glacier drifting and are genuinely boring).

I don't disagree. But as you said, some of the dungeons are great (the water one sucks ass, but that's like a running theme), and I really like art style of the "twilight realm". Maybe in this day and age, with 4K and all that, I wouldn't be so keen, but on a CRT it looked great.

Just use Dolphin, 0 reasons to wait for a source port when emulation is that good. If it comes and if it brings tangible benefits to just doing that, sure, it can replace that. Mods and ultra widescreen and 60fps hacks for many games (though not this one and plenty more were 60fps to begin with too).

Decompiled ports are always leagues better than anything emulated.
Less computationally demanding, for a start (which matters if you are using a SteamDeck or similar, for example), way more customizable, easy to mod, improve, scale for aspect ratio, resolution, framerate, texture reworks, etc, etc.

Yes, zero reason to wait, not zero reason to switch to that if and when it comes and if and when it provides any tangible benefits (mods and ultra widescreen etc. have been done) and take 20 years to play an epic one is apparently interested in at some level because of waiting for that if and when...

TP is capped at 30fps, that's reason enough.

Is this already in a playable form, for the record, or will it take some more time for a release as decompilation just finished?

A this point a recompilation and/or porting process will have to be performed to create a native PC release. Still a long road ahead.

Twilight Princess rules. Some of the best dungeons and boss fights in the series. The Ganon fight in particular is incredible.

Disagree?

Come at me bro.

if people properly recompile this and fix the game logic to work without issue at high fps,
a port like this could allow 120fps+ and would run way faster and cleaner on any PC.

especially great for handhelds of course.

it probably also opens up the possibility of an infinite draw distance, and of course more in-depth graphics mods like better character models, better meshes in general, and maybe... RAYTRACING!

No, and unfortunately for players, a lot of decompiled projects are done for the sake of doing it, with no plans for porting (which is in and of itself a big project.) This is good news and could lead to something cool, but don't get your heart set on it right this second

Dungeons were great, but everything else was shit.

Twink Link and wolf bollocks. Coming from OoT/MM , this game being a disappointment is an understatement.

Use Cemu for the HD version…

Tried playing TP a couple of times because of its cultural importance in the meme sphere as the mother of shortstacks and being one of the first tsundere type characters western players got exposed to, but the 30fps hurts so bad. 120+ fps and Playstation glyphs should make it more palatable.

As a massive emulation fan:

Decompilations > Emulation

Both are great and emulation is amazing for accuracy and preservation but if you have the choice to play an old game in modern times, the decompilation will be better 9 times out of 10.
