Looks pretty cool. Clearly designed for the Japanese market though where portability is highly desirable. Not sure how the rest of the world will respond to this. Nintendo really needs to bring their A game with their first party games. Also, specs? Batterylife?

at no point in this three minute clip was i surprised or amazed. Nintendo keeps on believing in portable screens, but it keeps on forgetting everyone already has smartphone in their pocket. Let consoles be consoles, and just develop for smart phones if you want to make games on the go. Nintendo.

now you can play games that are on other consoles as well, but... portable!?

If it's not too expensive its just a good excuse to experience Nintendo games you'd otherwise be missing. Other than that; unimpressed.

I'm at work so I can't watch any videos, but the screen shots are confusing me. Is the "controller" extendable and the screen is hidden under it? If so, SOLD. If they're two separate components, I'll think about it.

PLEASE NINTENDO!

This is beautiful. I need this.

Loving it, however imagine if the dock had customisable cover plates. Would be more appeasing to the eye. Same goes for the handheld, hope for some kind of cover plate customisation.

Liked the video, but zelda looked rough while in portable mode. hopefully that's just a video thing.

might actually get this, the hybrid nature of the system looks very appealing.

Mark my words:
They will sell the portable alone as the 3DS-successor and the portable+Base as a set as Wii U-successor. And then offer the Base alone for people looking to upgrade from the portable standalone.

I would absolutely LOVE that if it's possible. I would probably be all over the portable-only version of it.

I can't see myself playing the Switch any other way than the portable version with the controllers always attached.

This is their new console. I don't see this being less than 300 but 250 would be incredible. The interesting thing will be game price. If they are moving handheld games to this thing will they charge 60 bucks for a handheld game?

Trailer blew my mind, best marketing from NOA in a long time, concept and gameplay were all demonstrated concisely and clearly. Now that the hybrid system is finally confirmed I cannot wait to get one. Also Nintendo Switch is a really smart, catchy name.

Holy shit... WHICH TEGRA? WHICH?

Well, it's a custom one

"Nintendo Switch is powered by the performance of the custom Tegra processor. The high-efficiency scalable processor includes an NVIDIA GPU based on the same architecture as the world’s top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards."

Pretty much confirmed what I was expecting, an underpowered device by today's standard. Wouldn't be surprised to find it just a bit more powerful than a WiiU.

It's mainly a portable device.
Power/Visuals will be sitting probably halfway between WiiU and Xbox One. Will be sold at or less than $300. It's anything but underpowered if that's how it is, considering the jump from PSVita and N3DS it's like we skipped a whole gen.

It's a portable glorified Wii U.

Not too bad. As long as it has both home console and handheld developer support, that's good enough for me.

But I don't know if this has mass appeal or not. I guess we'll see what the price is like and see how 3rd party support is.

SWITCHI~ ON!

I love the name because I can yell that when I start it up. To be honest I'm not sure if I'll ever use many of these features beyond the basic changing it to portable when I'm in the house, but for the more social folks out there this looks nice.

Excited about the new 3D Mario!

What does this mean for Pokemon?

Not seeing how this has mass appeal. A mobile device but a home console with a mobile GPU in an oversized portal device. They might as well just put their library on IPhone/Ipads.

If they get fallout new Vegas on there I'll be severely tempted just for the ability to play fallout nv mobile (and the new Zelda game).

How is it gonna be compatible to Wii U though, unless you could transfer purchases, it seems like it only uses a cart slot for games.

Um, pretty sure it's not going to be compatible. The best I think any of us can hope for is our Virtual Console games migrating via NNID.

I'm intrigued but really want to know how many of those "Standard" pro-like game pads can be connected at once. Any game that needs a d-pad for example just is going to be awful with those mini detachable pads seeing as they only have a face button layout.

Maybe a fix for the lacking d-pad will be additional mini pad versions that instead of having an analogue stick have a d-pad in their place?

I love the social push they showed and also want to know how the systems connect, will they use some sort of ad-hoc wireless connection for multi console MP?

If that was the real console screen being shown I'm slightly concerned due to the opening scene where the dog owner plays outside, noticed what looked like fairly light black levels and possibly backlight bleed but then again that could just have been editing or not even the real screen; it did look good elsewhere in the footage.

That was Skyrim they showed the guy playing on the plane right? So we can assume the hardware is at least powerful enough to run the Skyrim remaster? I suppose it could simply be a last gen port, I'm not really versed in the game's visuals as I've never personally played it so I can't tell from the short amount of gameplay shown.

Then there's the issue of how much data can those cards hold? Bluray discs are cheap but I'm sure 50GB SD like cards are going to be markedly more than that.

So many questions, but I am genuinely interested and can't wait to see more.

An absolute site of an announcement for me to behold!

The hybrid concept really has me hyped up!

The Joy-Con controllers seem pretty small when using them individually, though hope there are plenty of demo kiosks for me to get a good impression.

As for the 3rd party partners, hopefully they do stick around most of the time if they manage to profit well with the Nintendo Switch.

Sort of meh for me. Some interesting points but really wanted to see new games. Skyrim again? Splatoon and Mario don't seen like real sequels... And the non pro controller does not look too good.
How does the Mario game not look like a real sequel?

No indication that the screen is a touch screen, which gets at a larger issue:

this doesn't really seem all that portable. If you need those controllers, the thing is quite large, much larger than any existing handheld console. Are all the kids who carried their Gameboys and DSs and 3DSs now going to carry this thing around? It doesn't seem like it can really replace those devices. I have really low hopes for the battery life, as well, especially if there's really a fan in it. I'm worried that all the success Nintendo's had with portable gaming may evaporate this gen.

Better than I expected. The dock is a little ugly but the screen and controller looks nice and most importantly, it looks like we get a traditional controller for home use. As long as the system is close to the XB1 in power, I think it's a win.

The traditional controller can also be used on the go as shown in the Splatoon "strategy" footage.

3DS XL really wasn't all that portable anyway. I think this will do well.

Honestly floored by this.

It's actually a sexy piece of kit. Nintendo actually made a piece of hardware that looks visually appealing.....

Wait....What? This thing looks hideous. It looks like a 1990 laptop docking station had a baby with the Wii U. The controllers are tiny (not the pro) with buttons so close together, and the primary controller looks like a Dreamcast nightmare that is easier to break!
