I love everything I see about it.

My real issue, since this seems to be the handheld along with console combo - As a parent who games with kids, I may end up having to buy 3 of these. I think we all think at the very minimum this is going to be 300 for base level entry. After taxes I'm looking around sub 1000.

I was really hoping (and still do) that the base is 250 or less.

Thats so retro and fantastic.

I have a a question though, me and my girlfriend like to play co-op Monster Hunter quite a lot. Would we both be able to play it on one Switch system, or would we have to buy separate ones? Im just a bit confused with how multiplayer works.

Depends on if the devs want to support same-screen MP or not, just like it always is with consoles.

I liked it they did a good job on the reveal, what bothers me is that they didnt give a date for the full console blow out Direct

Even then you still got to question why they would purposely make it so the frame rate looked lower when in portable mode.

Dropped frames in rendering due to different framerates of both videos? There are tons of reasons and steps where shit like that can happen.
Seriously, it's more hilarious that people see low framerates but aren't able to notice that it's a fake video cut in. (Like in every phone and screen comercial ever)

Now does that mean the framerate is like that on the actual hardware, unless we get Digital Foundry on the real hardware it's impossible to say.

It looks like one of the retail display cases leaked from a GameStop.

If this real I heavily fuck with it

edit: N-gage lmao

I've got one problem. The DPad.

I appreciate some don't consider it too important in today's gaming world but it just seems a bit small and the placement is strange as well.

My hands aren't the largest but I can imagine it will be hard to pull off combos if a fighter ever comes to the system.

This has probably already been discussed, but the rumors of a disconnected d-pad were effectively correct given the left Joy-Con. Does anyone remember who all was pushing that?

You're kidding right? That's the "Plus" (Start) button.

I feel like a lot could go wrong. Im imagining the same poor third party support. Nintendo pricing themselves out of the market (it really needs to at most be the same price as current gen consoles) and a battery life that makes the entire portable nature of the machine a little bit redundant.

It looks too big to be a viable mobile device and it looks too weak to compete with even the current consoles, let alone the pro and scorpio.

Right now my gut is saying it's going to be a re-run of the Wii-U, but we'll see.

Why would gamestop have a retail box already, c'mon NeoGaf are better than that.

Plus the picture looks shopped as fuck.

Don't let the excitement of what looks like a great Nintendo console make you fall for the idiots tryng to ride the wave.

Looks really interesting, definitely getting it if its region free.
Has there been any word on price? Can't keep up with all the news.

To me this is the "ultrabook" of consoles. Hopefully it carves out a market for itself, the branding and name is really clever.

Yeah, she's definitely earned her stripes. She absolutely nailed it.

And i hope she was right about everything, cause she said "big news about NX this week and the next", so i hope next week Nintendo will reveal the official specs, price, battery life and what OS and online features the console has...and who knows perhaps even preorder will start soon to take advantage of holiday season

Well if its the full version of NBA2K is definite needs all of the buttons, and sticks.

NBA2K is heavily simulation based. You need them to pull off some moves. 4 buttons are dedicated to passing alone (regular, bounce, lob, icon). Also you need the stick for shooting and dribbling thats separate from moving. Its not over-design, its on purpose for more control of your character.

Im not saying 2K cant make it work, but I see this be the Wii all over again for some 3rd Party AAA games where you had a separate "Wii edition"

I can't see why there wouldn't be a 4 button arcade mode for using the mini controllers and the full fat version for the full controller.

Interesting concept. Nintendo's role is to innovate.

BUT

It all comes down to software and support. I'll have to wait and see how they do this time.

This is now the best post in this thread.

Jinfash

needs 2 extra inches
Just watched the trailer. First impression: very positive.

Second impression: I need to hold the default controller to see how comfortable it is (attached and unattached to the console), and determine whether having the right analog below the buttons and perfectly aligned feel right or not. I understand why they did it (each attachment can be used separately), but I fear accidental right analog tilts.

Sure, I see your perspective. Perhaps they'll have to say that you need to use a simplified control scheme then when using those controllers (Which for most games, I don't think will be an issue).

I believe hockey and football already offer simplified controls on all consoles through controller options in-game (I don't know about soccer or basketball), so while those looking for "simulation" style controls may not be pleased when playing that style of multiplayer, I don't think it's going to require a lot of extra effort on the part of devs.
