I wonder what the deal is with the American football jocks and e-sports players huddled around the chalk/whiteboard. I mean yeah a tablet can be used for a social setting, but so could a computer screen. It feels throwaway. Wondering if this has to do with the other gimmick we don't know about yet?

I despise the misaligned left and right analog sticks. Why the hell would they do this to their Pro Controller when they executed it perfectly last-gen?

Well it's necessary for their concept of multiplayer controllers that they're mirrored, and I'm guessing supporting two different controller setups is a bit of a nightmare for game designers.

Most encouraging thing, is that the screen doesn't look like it is going to be utter rubbish this time around. I hate Nintendo LCDs up until now

I'm gonna get one, but I need to see the full launch line up and 2017's too. If they can get new games that aren't Wii U ports, I'll be sold. The new Mario game looks good, but not enough to sell me on a console.

Definitely not getting at launch. Especially after getting a Wii U in 2012.

Both the pro & default controllers look pretty normal, & the Pro Controller is aping the Xbox One's pad. What more do you want?

He wants it to be a PS4 Pro, basically.

I don't blame people for wanting Nintendo to just release a powerful home console with traditional controls and be like Microsoft and Sony, but it's the one way Nintendo guarantees their failure. They'd be making the same thing for the same price (or more expensive), only it's going to have fewer games and worse infrastructure at every level. There would never be an incentive for people to buy Nintendo in that scenario.

They kind of just have to leave consumers who can't move on from that ask behind. If this had been framed as the 3DS successor and the talk of consoles been completely removed from the equation, it would have vastly exceeded most liberal expectations.

The best thing about this is...finally the newest versions of Monster Hunter, Fire Emblem etc all will be playable with acceptable graphics and on TV.

I wonder how long it will take to start losing those controllers. LOL.

What I liked:
The small stand is a neat detail
The concept IS a good idea, but we'll have to see if that's enough for 2017

What I disliked:
Look at the size of that thing! It's pretty thick
Battery in the Tablet and in the Joy-Pads .. GameGear lifetime ahead? I mean .. hopefully they are charged when plugged into the tablet.

Why are Nintendo faking the actual gameplay? Just look at the reflection on the TV-screen from the windows on the left and how the reflection magically disappear during gameplay.

That's very common in advertising, and this is an ad. When you see those videos of super excited people playing games 99% of the time they are not really playing anything, everything is added later.

Do you think now there were really people playing this unfinished Super Mario 3D on a random roof?

Finally we know what the NX is!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111oneeetwo

1. It looks very dull and un-Nintendo like
2. The video dragged on for way too long
3. Will buy

Okay, as someone that felt the WiiU was not that great and didn't even bother purchasing one.. Day one.

Honestly that looks amazing. Well done Nintendo.

I love the concept of this. Now we just need to see the specs and the launch window games. I'd also like to see the UI in all of it's glory.

Oh wow I thought this was happening at 10am pst, I hate the name but the device looks pretty sweet.

I have to wonder though how durable will that sliding mechanism for the controllers/tablet be? I feel like over time it might get loose or break.

I'm kind of interested in this but need some more information, particularly:

What kind of support can we expect?; They kind of ditched the last console.

What resolution can we expect when outputted to the big screen?; need some hardware specs.

Battery life playing Skyrim type game.

What kind of online ecosystem?

Dont know what your talking about... the reflections of the guy walking away is still there...You can clearly see his back moving away next to the left of the Mace in that gameplay

This actually seems very cool. I can see myself picking this up to go along with my PC. Very neat that they still keep doing different things. If the sales are really solid, I really like that it could make local multiplayer easier in some situations.

wow just saw this randomly on Facebook. Didn't expect this anymore at all somehow.

First impression: Great fucking commercial! Very well done.

Love the brand name and how the integrated it in the video. Gameplay seems quite interesting with the detachable controllers.

All in all I am pretty excited about this reveal. If you compare this to the disastrous first look at the WiiU ... actually it doesn't compare at all. Good job Nintendo, looking forward to more!

Names terrible, but the device itself seems alright. I wonder what the innards are. I really don't think the handheld focus on this device will work out well though.

I'd be way to paranoid to take the controller out and probably spend a fortune on replacing it if i lose it. I will definitely get this though since I dig nintendo stuff.

I'll buy it but...meh.

I'll have it on my TV only so whatever the price I'll overpay.

Portable must be way underpowered. Zelda looked around 20 fps.

What do we do with that bizarre plastic middle controller chunk when it's not being used? Does it just sit awkwardly on the coffee table, like black plastic table art?

That's not actually just the middle, you can see the paddles off to the left and right. So, it's a big honkin' piece of plastic.

It's amusing how people are claiming their own ability to not lose their property as a negative for the console.

Your TV sucks, you can lose the remote.

I'm excited by this concept, doesn't need to be a powerhouse of a console, Mario looked great and that's enough.

I'm honestly surprised at the positive reaction from most people here (that I've seen, anyway, haven't read the entire thread). To me, it looks like a WiiU in a different form factor.

All hardware is going to have to be in the tablet to make it portable, which means it will likely be very unpowered in order to have any decent battery life on the go. Which means it's unlikely going to be considered equal alongside the Xbox and PlayStation. Which means developers will basically ignore it for AAA titles because it won't be capable of advanced graphics and AI. Which means it will be relegated to Wii/WiiU niche status.

Unless the dock has more powerful hardware to run better graphics/AI when it's connected to the TV....which if that was the case, this thing would be entirely too expensive and possibly confusing to their target market.

This thing just looks like another fail to me. Maybe/hopefully I'm wrong.

I find it surprising that Nintendo didn't utilize the tagline: "Are you ready to make the Switch?"

Seems like it would've been a perfect jab at Sony and Microsoft.

probably not for me. its taken me 40 years but the idea of mobile gaming far exceeds the reality, in my experience. When i go somewhere, im driving. when im travelling for business, run run run. All these little ideal situations for mobile gaming rarely work out. Take that video, who goes to dinner party to finish their mario game? (selfish tart) Who plays basketball underneath a highway at night and the tops it off with mobile basketball. If i had kids id buy them this in a heartbeat. Its like the perfect kids console. mobile gaming doesn't fit my lifestyle. Nice to see them trying to engineer something different.
