Pretty much everything I had hoped for before this announcement(it'd be nice to get BC too but I doubt it) so I'm happy.

It's funny because it's exactly like that Foxconn leaked drawing. I want one tho, I can kiss sleeping goodbye with a system like that to play in bed haha

I see this somewhat differently. I see the Switch not so much as a portable in the traditional sense.

To me some of the most compelling and innovative console features of the last few generations are off-TV play, remote play, and cross-save. But none of the implementations of those on previous systems were great experiences. Off-TV play worked well on the Wii U but you couldn't take it out of range of the base system. Remote play on the Vita was a great idea but in practice it has lag issues and isn't ideal for all types of games because of missing buttons. And cross-save never worked automatically and instantly in most games that supported it outside of maybe Rogue Legacy.

With the Switch, it's solving all of these issues in one motion.

To me it's not about being able to play the same games on a more competent or graphically intensive platform. It's about the convenience of being able to play in a multitude of situations. Someone else wants to use the TV? Fine! Want to get in some more game time before bed? Easy! About to go on a trip when a game you've been looking forward to on console just came out? Bring it with you.

That's pretty damn compelling to me, over graphical fidelity and smartphone gaming.

Exactly with you on this.

I have a high end PC that will give me graphics for days, so I have that option. However, Nintendo is more about the fun gameplay experiences. I'm in love with the idea of playing my game on the TV then being able to pull it out and continue the exact same file without any sort of communication hiccups. I recall a lot of PS4 cross play having to have manual pushes.

And Nintendo games have always looked amazing, who are we kidding?

Can't wait to hear your next podcast. Sorry, Greg :(

Also those look like N Gage boxes.

I've got one problem. The DPad.

I appreciate some don't consider it too important in today's gaming world but it just seems a bit small and the placement is strange as well.

My hands aren't the largest but I can imagine it will be hard to pull off combos if a fighter ever comes to the system.

The telling things will be:

- Is there a chat system? Nintendo's, Skype, Discord?
- is there MORE than Netflix, Hulu, and Crunchyroll?
- is there cross play with Xbone and PC?
- can this handle Xbox one ports?
- App store?! Kindle reader, Instagram, Kik and Spotify would be smart!
why would it have cross play with xbox and xbox one ports?

- Game still in development that had solid performance in the hours upon hours of gameplay previously shown on what I think was a Wii U.
- Exactly, the console is only 5 months away.
- Then whoever threw the trailer together did a shit job.
- So?
- Then they should git gud.

Honestly I played BotW at E3 and performance on Wii U was not solid. I am pretty sad it doesn't look smoother in this trailer.

I seriously hope you can buy different controller side things, I will never use them for local multiplayer and want a proper d-pad

People keep reacting to this like you're not joking. I've seen this joke about three times now from different users, and I did laugh the first time someone said it.

I refuse to believe people are that stupid though. I keep seeing people fall for it anyway.

Question for whoever knows, this is taken from nvidia's blog:

Nintendo Switch is powered by the performance of the custom Tegra processor. The high-efficiency scalable processor includes an NVIDIA GPU based on the same architecture as the world’s top-performing GeForce gaming graphics cards.

Does scalable processor mean games would perform better when docked?

Another console with amazing Nintendo games? Yeah I think you're right.

Yes, but with even more awesome games since Nintendo will put all their effort into it being both Handheld and Home console, so hopefully it'll manage to sell like 3DS and WiiU combined

I noticed NO mobile casual games or kids. Nintendo is really targeting the core gamers.

I don't really get the appeal myself, and showing a load of people playing last gen games doesn't exactly sell me on the concept of this being anything particularly new. But interested to see what it's capable of.

It's 10 x the vita, whats not the love? It even looks amazing on TV.

- We don't know all the features yet
- Even the ps4 pro didn't blow me away in gfx terms, so those differents aren't that important
- We don't know the games yet

So let's wait until we know all, but the pro controller looks like the best one ever made in history.

Thread's 67 pages long. Nobody has time for that.

People who think this is another WiiU make me almost wonder if they were alive back then.

Yes my own opinion is the processor "downclocks" when on the go to improve battery life, and then goes full power when docked.

Not the ridiculous notion that the dock has an extra cpu and gpu that "boost" games, and will be sold seperately for those that don't want a handheld.

Some people are already guessing how much the dock is and how much the deluxe bundle with handheld is lol. Man I wish that shit would stop.

I can't see why there wouldn't be a 4 button arcade mode for using the mini controllers and the full fat version for the full controller.

Thats possible but 2 reason have me concerned:

VC has some server development issues (relatively speaking that is. Just look at 2K17 while fun, its a technical mess)), so having to add and maintain a separate control scheme for one system doesn't have me that confident.

Very few 3rd party developers even took the time to implement proper Vita remote play control schemes, and its not difficult at all to implement.

Of course I could be wrong, but it is concerning

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.

well I've been saying for awhile that everyone already knew what it was going to be :).

Happy that the cat is out and I chat about it a bit more now though!

Bronetta

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
Now that the hype has settled down I have to say the system itself doesnt look very appealing?

This thing will live and die based on its game lineup. I swear if this thing has software droughts in the first year its gonna fizzle out.

Totally anecdotal, but: I was lukewarm on the Wii U. It's the only mainline Nintendo console I haven't owned. Day 1 for the Switch.

The overall reception seems to be pretty positive so far! Maybe because they are carving their own niche so much that it could actually be successful this time :D

All the Nintendo fans basically DDoSed neogaf again.

Basically. My PC won't even load NeoGAF pages anymore after the the 500 errors stopped. have to post from mobile for now. Will be going down a checklist to see if I can fix it on my end since its only down for my PC when I get back home.

What the hell did they do to the D-Pad. Awful

Really like the red logo though. Can't wait to learn more, especially about how storage is gonna work on the portable. Will going digital even be possible?

I laughed

Anyways, I'm excited for the new Mario (with that Mario 64 moves) and the new Zelda... hope they keep revolutionizing their loved IPs and also look at their past games to see what made them so great.

Sorry if this has been mentioned, but did anyone notice the 'stand' they slide the Switch into in the car? Potential accessory?

I find it cool that this was announced hours after Tesla announces that they plan to have fully autonomous cars by the end of next year. These two things could revolutionize my commute.

Don't mind the dpad, They probably will sell other attachments later on with a regular dpad like the pro. It's also only used in 2d games

I dint see this doing too well but I guess Ince the next mainline Pokemon comes out etc I can see it doing better than Wii U and maybe near 3DS level. For Nintendo to make this a straight up success they need to charge $250 with a bundled game.

Soapbox Killer

Grand Nagus
This thing will have more SKU's than a Korean BBQ Pit.

Tablet
Dock
Tablet W/ Dock
Tablet W/Dock, Pro Controller

My issue is that with 5 kids, if this is the main gaming system for the living room, if I take the Switch to work, they'll need another tablet to dock and play. They'll have to sell the DOCK and the Tablet separate. It will not work as a bundle only system.
