You're wrong.
OK. Any actual argument? Watch the trailer again and tell me that Zelda doesn't seem to be running much worse.
You're wrong.
It's running Zelda at substantially poorer framerates in portable mode. That raises a lot of questions about how powerful the system is. The dock has no processing power, but it will provide a wall outlet, so the system will almost certainly be able to run at higher clocks when docked. But whether that'll be enough to make a leap over Wii U when it's running so much worse in portable mode is hard to say.
Nothing we saw in the trailer looked better than a Wii U title... we saw MK8, Splatoon, and BotW looking identical to the Wii U versions. The new Mario also could have easily been a Wii U game. Even if the system is capable of doing better than Wii U, developers may be held back by the handheld performance. If BotW runs at 15fps without the dock, which it looked like it was in the trailer, then clearly they can't ever do much more than Wii U level visuals without causing portable play to struggle. And if it can run better than that, why did they show that footage? You kind of have to assume that will be typical if Nintendo couldn't find something less janky to show for such a critical reveal.
I would love to be proven wrong, but it seems like we're getting a weaker system than Wii U when playing portably and a system that's equal to Wii U in console mode.

Just preordered it. I can't wait to get my hands on this thing. My ideal console.

Well for a start pretty much nothing in that trailer was actually running on the Switch when bein filmed. It's all post work, the actor wasn't actually playing Zelda in portable mode.OK. Any actual argument? Watch the trailer again and tell me that Zelda doesn't seem to be running much worse.

Nah you need to look again. Especially at Splatoon
it's probably video of the WIi Uversion for all we know. The footage in that trailer was probably all faked.

Yeah, I don't know why it's so hard for people to wrap that around their heads. They would obviously not give the actors real hands-on play with the device. The Zelda footage was clearly choppy, but that could be due to a number of reasons. It's frankly surprising that they were okay with that clip, but we should absolutely in no way use it as an indicator of the Switch's power. You realize everything on-screen in that trailer was done in post-processing right? None of it was running on a Switch, it was just target renders.
This is exactly what I was hoping for from Nintendo, I'm equally interested in its capabilities as a standalone tablet. It looks like it is equipped with more than enough horsepower to power a legitimate computer experience (browser, file manager, media player, app store, ect)
I'm not looking to work on Excel spreadsheets on this thing, but to be able to browse the internet well would be amazing. I really hope they have an open OS where people can develop stuff on it.
They're more behind with technology than Nintendo is.People who think the Zelda footage was actually running on that Switch and not just overlaid in post, and use that to extrapolate the actual power of the system, are hilarious.
oh shit, it's NVidia? Maybe they got a good deal since Everyone else went with AMD forever
I thought I read some where that the games showed where mapped to the switch and tv in the video. that what we saw want really running on the system
I thought AMD chips just weren't suited to portable use?Didn't the original Nvidia rumor say that they were desperate to get a console win, so they gave Nintendo a really good deal?
For a machine weaker than a WiiU?
skyrim can run fine on a pretty low end system by today's standards. i imagine if that port happens it'll be completely fine
With so many configuration of control they are trying to put in the Switch, I can't believe they take out the most important of all (and one that Nintendo started with in the market) : THE TOUCH SCREEN.
I really love the DS era with the innovation they brought to touch screen gaming. Now they back out of that. Same with motion control.
Isn't this the same specs as a Shield TV? I had one, is the WiiU really weaker than the ShieldTV? Shield wasnt as good as I was expecting. Plus why are people saying this is running games in 504p? MK8 was 720/60 no?
This thing has to be cheap if it's just a standard screen with some cheap controllers and a docking station. $200

That's why all I want is a home console...not a mobile hybrid. Can get alot more power for way less $ when they don't have to worry about form factor. Why is it so hard for people to understand that? This product isn't for me and that's a bummer. Unless it's sub 200$ then it's cheap enough to not care, since it's doomed to be a Nintendo game only machine.
...what looked better? Splatoon looked exactly like the Wii U version.

Hm these graphics do look improved. Looks smoother, more well-lit.

Not a fan to be honest, the detachable controllers seem to only have a single useful function (two player on games designed to be used with simpler controls), beyond that there's no real reason for them to be removable
I
Seriously what in the world is going on these last couple pages with the misinformation and wrongheaded speculation
It looks substantially better.
Where did you preorder it from?
Sorry guys, I'm in Australia, not sure about yourselves. I preordered from a local chain called JB HiFi. They had it up on their website this morning. Same with EB Games.Wait, who's taking preorders?
Anybody else feel this thing is gonna look different when they actually do the full reveal and its finally out? It just looks so rough. Kinda looks like a prototype. Cant remember now, but didn't the Wii U gamepad end op looking different then when it was first revealed?
Yeah, that's probably a safe assumption, but I don't expect that remaster to really push modern consoles either. It's the remaster, designed for modern platforms, there would be no reason to port a five-and-a-half-year-old 360 game when the remaster just came out
What? The mobile thing is gimmicky to me. So yeah take that out and release a damn home console lol. Why is that so hard to do. This looks like a mobile device that comes with a shitty controller to use on your TV.
I'd still rather just get their output on my mobile device and connect a separate controller. I bought into the 3ds and Vita, and every other handheld before that, but not anymore. Combining the two into one brings the worst of both worlds. An underpowered console, and an oversized handheld.
Not interested anymore.
Why? Have you never seen advertising before? Uncomfortable? One thing about the reveal trailer that makes me incredibly uncomfortable is how beautiful/handsome the people playing the games are.
Nah, have you seen the amount of kids on ipads??Is Nintendo basically just targeting adults with this? The size of the Switch would make it fairly unwieldy for a little kid to hold. In other words, is Nintendo's new strategy to make the DS series a kid-only device? I can't see Nintendo having two portable device platforms targeting the same market.
