I think the Switch is going to be $199. I remember some article a few months ago saying it's going to be cheaper expected.
People saying $200 are in Crazytown. Shield Tablet K1 costs that much with no controller or dock.
There's some support but I don't see it being anything like the 3DS in it's prime, getting exclusive Zelda, Mario, Animal Crossing and the like.

And more importantly, going out of town. I'd rather not have to carry a dock with me everywhere.
So, uh, when should I finally buy a WiiU?
The Switch is nifty for a PC/mobile crowd, but I feel like it lacks some things I look for in a gaming experience. I think it's about time to pick up the WiiU.
Yeah, i agree, but my point is Nintendo doesn't want the Switch to compete with tha 3DS, so i doubt we are going to have games we are used to see on Nintendo handhelds on the new system, like the main Pokemon games, anytime soon. Mark my words, people will be mad when Nintendo announce new exclusive games for the 3DS instead of the Switch.
Dunno, we'll see. Not sure why I would really want to play multiplats on it. Unless I really like playing while taking a shit I guess.
exactly what i was thinking , how is this a hybridWell, that's one of the main things I was worried about when those leaks hit. I don't see how you could call this a hybrid when there are no advantages to the console side of the equation. It's just a handheld with a TV-out dock. Hugely disappointed.
Hmmm, I have a suspicion this thing is gonna be really weak.
Like, right in the middle between wiiu and XB1.
Thought that dock Woukd give it extra power to hit XB1.

Yup. I don't see how anyone can look at Nintendo's history and think otherwise.Iwata said a big part of why they wanted the NX to bridge the portable and console divide is so they don't split their game development efforts between portables and handhelds. Nintendo's not talking about the NX replacing the 3DS yet because they still believe they can sell some more 3DSes, but make no mistake - it is.
You wouldn't be playing multiplats at home with it if you already own an XB1 or PS4. You would be playing them on the go however, which neither of the other two can do.

Not really sure why people are trying to delude themselves that this is a home console. It's effectively the 3DS Mark 2 with a fancy dock for video out.
If it's using the chips it is rumoured to be then it will have less than 1/3rd the power of a PS4.
Nintendo is beginning a handheld only generation, they are leaving the home console business this gen and patching over the transition with marketing and PR.
It may be wise on their part but it is what it is, please don't try to pretend otherwise just because you can't handle the reality of it.

All screens were simulated in that video. The screens get populated or replaced in post production, even the screens in that arena which I think had a bad track. Haven't played through it frame by frame yet.Frame rate looked lower in hand held mode. Am I just crazy or was that really in the video? I noticed it this morning.
This is the most exciting thing about the NS for me.

I've personally had to populate TV, laptop, and phone/tablet screens for numerous commercials and let me tell you, Have even had to replace screens with different footage the day it's supposed to go out to stations.
Also thank you for using NS, glad that's getting some traction. Glad I could help people that dislike the full name.
No comment on touch reads like no touch to me.
Wait the screen isn't touch? What the fuck is Nintendo doing?
In a world where multitouch smartphones and tablets have become ubiquitous, releasing a tablet-like device and holding off on announcing its multitouch capabilities as a surprise seems a bit silly.
Either it's touch screen or it isn't. Don't know why they're holding on to that.
ok, cause at times the frame rate looked rough so I thought maybe it was actual footage.
Movies are actuall real life. Ads are even more real than life itself
Yeah I just can't get used to calling it "Switch". For a minute earlier today I convinced myself that its a fun sounding name but yeah, I can't stand it really.
Yeah. Though it will make docking/undocking more of a hassle since it's one more thing to attach/detach, since it won't fit in the dock with added bulk.I have a feeling the market will be ripe with Switch battery extenders.
Well, you're wrong.
It's getting home console games. It's a significantly bigger leap than any Nintendo portable before it. If Nintendo simply saw it as their next handheld, the jump in tech wouldn't even be close to this.
Nintendo is unifying their hardware, which is something they should have done long ago.
But there you said it. It's an impressive piece compared to portables before it. Home consoles though, not so much, and that's where the problem with the home console crowd lies.
So no extra juice like many speculated.
Very rarely will a screen have playback on it during a shoot. In my 10+ years I remember only once having playback on a device and it was for a little kid to react to and we ended up replacing the screen afterwards. Ideally you would want to keep the device off and avoid covering the screen, the next best is just a solid color (grey, green, or blue).ok, cause at times the frame rate looked rough so I thought maybe it was actual footage.

$300 and I'll bite. I'll be more happy to pay full price for a Switch then the Wii U. Especially since I think of it as buying a 3DS and Wii U in one go.
But I can't play on the tablet and on my TV at once!? Say it ain't so!

I'm inclined to believe that it's not gonna be sold at close to cost. Fat lot that did for AMD despite strong xbox/ps4 sales. Even so, 250 is a pretty good price-point since it's cheaper than the other two.Possibly, but it's also important to consider that Nvidia is not a software company and therefore would be looking to make some profit per device. If this is sold as close to cost as possible, they might be able to do $199 or something close. I certainly can't imagine it hitting $250+, which would be bomba territory.

Yep.This is interesting. So the "Zelda framerate was ass on portable" concerns are unfounded?
If you want to know if Switch has touch, find the stylus/slot in the promo pics. All Nintendo products with touch have them.
They would be insane to sell it for £350 tbhMy guesses:
Honestly, don't really give a shit about the gimmicks or anything though, I just want something to play new Nintendo games on, cos fuck if it hasn't been an awful 2 years for Nintendo since they basically killed the Wii U.
- £350
- Out of the titles we saw, Zelda will be the only launch one, unless the Mario Kart / Splatoon titles are re-releases.
- It will be quite weak compared to today's standards, but no third party will want to touch it, so it doesn't really matter because Nintendo can make great looking games on weak hardware.
- The online store / infrastructure will still be behind-the-times.
- They'll leak out Virtual Console titles an a shockingly slow rate again, rather than saying "buy every Nintendo game you'd ever want from day 1!" which is what they should do.
- It won't be successful as a handheld so a new 3DS will be released 2-3 years down the line.
The first year better have some stellar titles because there's no excuses for not having the quantity after abandoning the Wii U.

Mr.Pessimistic right here lol.
£300 is the maximum I can see this thing being sold at and being any sort of success. Any higher and they're screwing it over tbh.
