So I was on Amazon and the final box art for kingdom hearts 2.8 was on the Amazon page. I noticed a lack of "only on playstation" on the box art (which was on 1.5 and 2.5). I highly doubt it would be coming out on Xbox one and if it isn't a digital release it might not be PC either. Do you think this might be a candidate for the switch?

The joy cons definitely seem bad for certain kinds of games.

However, the interesting thing about them is since they're detachable, this will basically be the first portable system which can use third-party controllers. Someone will almost certainly make joy cons optimized for 2D games.
The potential for improved control designs down the road is exciting in general. Nintendo or even third parties can refine things down the line and come out with good attachments, and it can happen without the need to buy the next version of the handheld altogether or add something bulky to the system circle pad pro style.

While I like the design of the hardware that's not enough. Zelda is long in the tooth and it just looks bad compared to even Scalebound...which looks like a turd next to Horizon Zero Dawn. I'm curious how many people will cry fowl when Horizon Zero Dawn is up for game of the year and Zelda doesn't get an honorable mention?

I understand the nostalgia factor to an extent and respect that some people just really love Nintendo's first party games, but Nintendo marches out this same concept generation after generation of trying to market mainly niche games to the mainstream audience without the kind of success that's necessary to maintain a hardware game business indefinitely. Had it not been for the freak accident of the success of the Wii, when consoles nearing the end of their life and smartphones weren't ubiquitous Nintendo would be out of business right now...that set of environmental circumstances will never be duplicated again. I really get the sense Switch is going to sell marginally better than Wii U but that's it. Skyrim is 5 years old, it looks kinda bad on Switch so far and they're including it in the marketing like it's new this year.

I hope while the tablet is docked, a controller can also be wired to the dock to charge while playing. Better yet, to transmit button press inputs via wired connection and not wireless to reduce input lag.

Breath of the Wild looks fucking fantastic dude, and it has nothing to do with nostalgia.

Wth. Why you bringing up Horizon and game of the year awards? Get out with that crap.

I have, but never on a 7 inch screen...because that would be awful.
I think my parents first TV (and the one on which I started gaming) was 13".

13" at 2 meters away is worse than 6" from close ;) I think it can work in a train or when waiting, depending on the game. Not comfortable, but I've seen 2 and even 4-players on a 4.5" phone...

Yeah no, lol.

I still don't know why Nintendo want to offer local 2 player option on incredible small controllers. That's a lot of manufacturing complexity for a minor selling point to this console's target audience (30-ish year old adult gamers who can afford $300 consoles).

Just keep the console in one piece and offer a $10 coupon for the pro controller.

I think you're missing the part where games with "long in the tooth" graphics can sell just as well as realistic ones.

It's all about whether the game evokes the right feelings in people and offers content they'll enjoy.

As someone wholly uninterested in handheld gaming of any sort, I was really hoping Nintendo would give me another all-in home console without gimmicks at some point.

I find the whole thing slightly confusing even after watching a video earlier...does the controller(s) modify into several different 'types', are they separate purchases?

At the end of the day, the games will do the talking for me completely as always. No Metroid on the horizon is already putting me halfway on the road of ignoring yet another Nintendo console though (already didn't care for or buy Wii & WiiU) but if the new Zelda turns out to be legit and potentially a new, exciting Mario entry...maybe.

Overall I just find this thing...weird and unappealing.

Is there an update on that anywhere?

Honestly has the market ever been dictated by power?

I sincerly believe that the PS4s power envelope has nothing to do with its significant lead in the console race and a hell of a lot to do with Microsofts DRM and pricing bundle.

Had they properly carried over the momentum of the 360 into this gen, I think the things would have been very different.

I think there is a point where a certain level of graphical fidelity is "enough" for nintendos core and the mass market and I think thats what Nintendo is going for. Just look at the ds and wii. Power had fuck all to do with those to experiences.

There will always be people who want the very best graphical experience possible but I think much that group is already on PC

Hell Im geetting a pro next month with the full knowledge of how much more powerful modern day pcs and the scorpio will be and my decision to get one has not been affected in any way. PS4Pro level is "enough" for me.

This is clearly not a traditional console but for its concept and what it is setting out to do, it is clear that the Switch is a very powerful and current piece of tech.

Really junior? What the hell does SB or Horizon have to do with Zelda and why would anyone care about what prizes each one get? Really, who could care about this insane prediction?

Skyrim was there because it's getting a remaster on PS4 and XBO.

Graphics does not equal good gameplay. Can you also explain to me how you think HZD will be up for goty when it hasn't even released yet? Don't kid yourself too, Zelda will be up for goty unless nintendo somehow fucks it up, which is unlikely given the circumstances.

Seriously.

The complaints about how it looks are totally baffling.

I mean, the system goes up against the awfulness that is PS4Pro and the mediocre PS4 slim and X1 slim.

I wanna see the receipts about sleeker looking tablets in the 250 bucks range too.

It's mainly a tablet so I wouldn't compare it to the PS4 Slim and the Xbox One S. Switch serves a whole new different purpose.

Hmmm.. so far we've yet to see some of the interesting patents come to fruition. Or maybe none. Like SCD, that projector/holo thing, swappable dpads/controls, etc.
Remember Nintendo said they still have secrets that they haven't shown us yet.

Who knows if anyone of those parents could be there, especially the SCD. Like someone said Nintendo didn't want to confuse any messaging with this initial trailer with all different things.

I do prefer consoles to pack more oomph tbh but that doesn't stop me from buying them if they weren't. I always like to see that leap in tech power in consoles and been so since the Famicom.

But here's the thing regarding the SCD, I'm curious about it not because of power only, but because I remember it had to do with something related with a "local" cloud like service? I can't remember the exact words from the patent, but it had something to do with that.

The Switch is the first Nintendo system that made me consider, nay, really want one, for myself. I've been pretty much only PC/Xbox/PS and I'd use my brother's Wii/U on occasion for some Mario Party and Kart, about once a year at most for get-togethers.
But a Switch Zelda bundle is incredibly tempting.

Only hyped to play a new Zelda and Mario. The system itself does nothing for me. Disappointed that Nintendo didn't come up with something that hasn't already been done by Sony (PS4/Vita).

Yea, the secrets. When I read that I was like "oh c'mon" lol. I waited this long since 2015 and all that speculation and rumors exhausted me. Now will have to wait months again. I do hope the wait is worth it.

I'm glad you brought up the cloud thing because look at this. This was at an investors meeting about My Nintendo and the features. You see some are blocked out and one of them says "Coordinating Cloud Data"? I believe it will tie in with the Switch.

How is this remotely anywhere close to what Sony did with the PS4/Vita. It's not similar at all.

Did the Vita come with the PS4? Could you instantaneously switch any game from TV to portable? Not quite the same thing in several ways. :p

(Shrugs) So the difference between the two would be the limitations in what the user could purchase at once? And connection time streaming between the base system and portable? Meh.

I honestly was going to buy whatever system Nintendo put out there so I could play Zelda, and I'll pick up the Switch for that, but was hoping for a bit more innovation than this. I don't know, I mean, I didn't expect VR out of Nintendo, just something...different?

I think it is a pretty different concept; while what you're saying is true, it's only true to an extent. You'd have to spend $400 on a PS4, $200 on a Vita, Vita memory card prices... it absolutely works, but with the Switch there's far less baggage and it's gonna be a hell of a lot cheaper.

Other than that you have the detachable controller scheme, the Nintendo IP's, etc. It's similar in concept but not really in execution. I don't think it's really going to feel anything like the PS4/Vita combo, especially when it comes to games.

I like this device, but do also feel you on this. 7 inches is a bit small for local multiplayer. Luckily, they showed that multiple people can have their own Switch consoles as well and play multiplayer 3ds-style.

That's not the cost of either of those anymore, especially used.

I think it was underwhelming because it wasn't something new on top of it basically being leaked and turning out exactly what the rumors said it was. Meh, I dunno it seems kinda middle road in some ways, but Monster Hunter on this should look pretty amazing, but then again if this isn't really a replacement for 3DS, will that MH still be exclusive?

Lots of ?? For me, I was more excited about the Wii cuz I knew the fam would go nuts..this just seems cool

Eww...that meat looks disgusting

Looks goid to me... how is a roast beef sandwhich supposed to look?

Anyway this does not excite me... looks like the Wii U all over again. It might succeed it they market it primarily as a mobile device fir the right price. The dock should be sold as an add in device.
