Conspiracies are always based on fear so the same sentiments tend to produce the same kinds of wacky theories.

At the end of the day, who cares about this email stuff? There is no point in trying to say the FBI is trying to sway an election. There are polls out there where the majority of people say this email stuff will not effect their vote. Everyone is kicking and screaming for nothing. I can't wait for this election to be over with. It's brought out the absolute worst in both sides.

So if it doesn't affect the election. Why were the GOP so eager to spin and leak the letter as fast as the did?

Trump is going to win, isn't he? ):

The entire universe seems to forgive every monstrous thing he does, and becomes vicious against Hillary for just a headline

Again, it seems to have exposed a serious lack of critical thinking for a lot of people. It makes sense, the same instincts that lead to Trump getting up there and spout that the election is RIGGED will make a liberal voter interpret recent events as some conspiracy.

This twitter account was dormant for a year until they started posting stuff on the 30th.

They haven't been responding to FOIA requests for a year?

Isn't the first time. Who the hell is running that account?

They have a website for that. A twitter account seems pretty insecure.

It is a link to their website.

Twitter is popular.

It has nothing to do with security.

It's about doing their best to give people the resources to look into their activities as best as they believe they can allow.

It's a crucial part of our democracy. It's why FOIA exists, and why taking steps to circumvent this process as a public figure is extremely dangerous to the freedoms and principles this country was founded and then refined on.

Why would a Twitter account that reposts automatically when they post to their website need to be secure?

They aren't fucking DM Obama secrets or anything

Because some random asshat could break into the twitter account and post stupid shit? Twitter hacks are pretty common.

Yeah. Just doesn't look good at all. First Comey, now this, so close to the election. Something is going on.

If you look on the website you can see they've been adding stuff to the vault consistently, it's just that they wait to tweet out the requests in bulk for whatever reason. You can see they've been bulk releasing stuff for a while now if you scroll through the account. Kind of a stupid way to run a twitter account.

I don't think the FBI has their password set to password12345. Unless you think Obama, the actual President also does. I mean I know Shuhei Yoshida got hacked, but I don't think Obama or anyone that far up in Government is going to have their twitter account jacked. As others have also said no one is DMing anyone dick picks and juicy secrets. Although Obama can do as he pleases as Obama is Obama and Obama is the best.

I'm not sure what to say about this as I'm honest a bit ignorant to what it even is. Whilst reading GAF posts I just thought it a bit daft how some are saying "Twitter security!" when the literal president uses twitter, as well as the two current candidates.

The *majority*, no, but it doesn't have to affect the majority, just a few %. I'm not sure you've thought about this for more than 5 seconds.

Just imagine the harm that 'hacker' could do to American Democracy in the hour between them hacking it and the party van showing up in their driveway.

I guess that title doesn't help for people who can't be arsed to read threads or click links, but this is really just the FBI answering an FOIA request.

That they publicize this through Twitter is entirely secondary.

FBI giving zero fucks.

Also how many times have they investigated the Clinton's? Jeez. Must be more routine for them then a dentist appointment.

I have seen some of the most bat-shit crazy claims about the FBI the last few days when ya'll were singing their praises a couple of months ago.

I really don't think everything is some plot to bring down Hillary and co. If it were I reckon she'd have been arrested months ago. There are plenty of skeletons in the Clinton's closet. You don't become a millionaire as a politician in a 100% clean manner regardless.

In any case I don't think this is enough to cause a Trump presidency. These reports might as well be blank with the redaction either way.

Some of you guys need to chill the fuck out.

I get Clinton is getting a rather raw deal with the email thing, but this is literally nothing.

The point it shows LITERALLY NOTHING is besides the point. Maybe the releases was to provide clarification of the whole Clinton Foundation debacle, but the vast majority aren't going to any farther than the headline that the FBI has a file on Clinton Foundation.

^^^^ that isn't for them to decide. They're legally obligated to release the information.

Which I think is why we've gotten as far as we have with respect to people *really* disliking her/them. You can say that they've never done anything outright *illegal* (and gotten caught at least) that they've done so much stuff that is right on the borderline that the trust is gone from many. Rightly or wrongly.

What dictates the timing of the release?

This all seems to convenient to hide behind FOIA.
