Buying a 4K TV for PS4K thread!

Was debating ordering the samsung or Sony tv everyone suggests as they're in my budget range, but thinking of waiting next year and just living with my 1080p w/ my Pro till next year and getting PSVR instead. Ugh such a hard decision.

The drop to sub-$1000 finally pushed me over the edge. 55" KS8000 ordered, scheduled for delivery the day before the PS4 Pro arrives. Crazy, but I couldn't sit out the initial experience at launch.

oooohhh man...So tempted to pick up that 55" KS8000 for $997. My 6 year old 40in Toshiba has done its job admirably but maybe its finally time to pull that trigger.

Anyone have the Samsung KU6300? Impressions? I'm not overly concerned about HDR yet, so this one should be good enough until I get another tv in a couple years.

I bought the 65 inch version for a good deal online.

Good news for you. You can get the 55" for $729 base price.

Just have to do the perks at work sign-up and order through Samsung directly.

Shoot me a PM if you want an invite. I believe the deal is down after today though.

Never heard of Perks at Work before but if its an easy thing to do then by all means send the invite!

Am I to assume that this TV is a pile of bollocks compared to the others on the market? Finding very few details about whether its capable of HDR, and its at clearance price as opposed to a normal sale

Can't really go bigger than 43", and would prefer to buy from Argos since I've got a discount there. They don't seem to stock the Sony that I was recommended :(

Sent. Once you create the account you just need to search Samsung or scroll down until you see the message about TV's being 65% off or whatever. It will redirect you to the employee pricing page, log in or create a Samsung account (I think you need to) should show a badge on the top right of the page saying Corporate Perks. Then you just find the KS8000 choose 55" and it should be $729.

Shoot me a PM. Name and email.

Also anyone I invite gets their own invites, so on and so forth. We multiply like rabbits.

are you in UK? The TV may have a different name there.

Search around this thread for more info.

I was not convinced to jump into 4k already, but i found a pretty good deal for an LG and i deceided to go for it.

And then i thought i would need something to use it properly and i bought an xbox one S alongside with it for the UHD BR.

The good thing is it has both HDR standards. Hdr10 and Dolby Vision.

I hope everything arrives on monday!

Anyone know if there is a minimum acceptable length of HDMI cable for 4K@60Hz 4:4:4? I have some 3ft cables, but have heard I shouldn't go lower than 6ft. Trying to avoid cabling nightmares basically.

I just bought this TV and I love it.
4k is amazing. It will show HDR but not as well as a 10bit panel.

But it does still have HDR features.

Avoid 3 feet just because you don't have any slack, but no generally the really long ones is where you start getting into trouble because of signal loss.

Plus your old cables likely aren't high speed if more than a few years old. You need 18Gbps "premium" cables. Should be less than 10 though. Monoprice has some good cables.

Bought some of the Amazon Basics. There are a few runs that are very short between my Receiver and devices, for example, my Shield TV is right on top of the receiver. Assuming slack isn't an issue, is there any issue with shorter cables?

Lol. I bought the 49" KS8000 (US) which I LOVE. It is still $1,099.99 on Best Buy site and everywhere else.

Same company, same site, 55" at $999.99. SMH.

I forked out for a LG B6 55", I'm not a competitive gamer so the input lag isn't a huge issue for me. It comes in on average at under 50ms it seems, which isn't terrible. I prefer the higher IQ

You get the perksatwork deal?

No, my employer isn't part of the program. Even at $999 it's still a pretty solid deal, presuming we get a good panel without overt edge lighting leakage. I like have Best Buy available locally for return or exchange (same reason we got our 65" KS8000 at Costco at our island home where there are limited retail outlets.)
