Buying a 4K TV for PS4K thread!

Now I just need to avoid the temptation of updating my receiver immediately. It will be irritating to give up the on-screen overlay and lossless audio for the near term, and I'm sure setting up ARC for the set's Smart features like NetFlix will be predictably annoying, but having UHD and HDR visuals day one on the Pro will be really nice.

Or I could start the "buying a 4K receiver for PS4K" thread. I'm sure GAFer spouses everywhere will thank me for not doing so.

Sony could be moving a shit load of TV's by having great input lag on its sets.

Instead Samsung is eating away at potential customers and benefiting greatly from PS4 Pro.

This is the uk version as far as I remember from the other thread.

I found this "Sony KD43XD8088BU 43 Inch 4K HDR Ultra HD Smart TV – Black.", while browsing the Argos Mobile app:

http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5287402.htm

Woah, thanks for that. Only difference seems to be a 'BU' at the end of the SKU number

Assuming my discount applies, I could get that for around £560 which would be great

Do the prices ever go up? Thinking of waiting for my discount to increase since I'm in no hurry for it, but I may buy it now if there's a risk it could increase in price

edit: Argos discount applies from December 1st, will see what happens with the prices

WOW! i just went to Best Buy last night and bought the UN60KS8000. is it cheaper on the Samsung employee site? if anyone has a spare code i'd greatly appreciate it. willing to give a discount to the huge electronics fruit company.

No need to order, for today only Best Buy has this on sale for $1,000, in store.

I'd jump on this despite the taxes you might have to pay. Peace of mind with being able to just return it if something goes wrong goes a long way.

With the EPP I think it dropped to the $700s on Samsung. Crazy it was just in the 900s a couple days ago. Wish I had waited until this weekend, would of either got the B6 for $1500 or this for $700. I was stubborn about wanting to keep the 60" and not drop to 55" (and 65" is just to big) but the deals are getting hotter and hotter. Plus the $50 or so perks at works bucks (and 10% Discover) can get your this thing for essentially $600. Bummer to I could probably sell my TV for $300 right now, would have been a super cheap upgrade.

So are there any decent 4K HDR tv's that are <32 inches?

I play on a desk in an office. I'm sorry if this has already been asked or if it's a stupid question.

If I get a 4K TV soon, I'm definitely ignoring receivers until any issues with HDMI 2.1 get ironed out. Bound to be some. I can live with the PS4 being hooked up direct. And 5.1 non-lossless is ok for a while

Any increase is likly to be because of the £. Probably won;t go to far in the next couple of months.

The BU Is just indicating that its the black model I think. Thats what the 88 stands for anyway. Ending in 77 means silver.

I'm just going with the Pro direct into the TV and then ARC down to the amp for the time being. Most of my BluRays I've already got decent ish (10-15GB) rips of with proper sound to play on plex so it would really only be the odd film and games for the moment and I'm still not running a proper 5.1 anyway.

I see everyone using the EPP codes to get 55". Does the discount work on larger sizes? If I could get the 60" or 65" to drop a couple hundred bucks more I think I can get my wife to bite on buying

Yeah the 65 is 1279.99* which is still the lowest anywhere - it's only the 55 that had an anomaly of a drop

Yeah 1050 for 60" and 1280 for 65"

Funny enough the 49" is priced higher then the 55"

Kicking myself over here for not being patient enough.

Just so you know: Best Buy has a one day sale on the KS8000 55" for $999. The bigger models are all discounted too, as are the 8500s.

I already got the 55 inch LG E6 OLED from the eBay sale, but I'm at Best Buy now and they're offering the 60 inch Samsung KS8000 for $1399.

Any reasons I should consider their offer, or is the OLED still the way to go?

The 55'' KS8000 on Samsung with employee pricing is an INSANE deal - best bang for buck definitely. I'd go with that if you are looking for a 55''

I I bought the B6 OLED yesterday on the Ebay sale. What kind of cables should I buy for this TV? I need to hook up 3 consoles (Wii U, PS3, PS4) and probably an XB1S when I get a chance to purchase it.

If someone can give me a link to the product page I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

People should be aware that while the KS8000 is a great TV, there's too much of a panel lottery. I had to return 2 before I got a good one that had next to no light bleed. I could do this because I got it from a brick and mortar. Buying online and attempting a return would be a big hassle unless its purchased through Amazon.

Went into Best Buy intending to get the $999 55" KS8000 and instead went with the 65" and a new 4K Onkyo receiver to replace my current one. Certainly paid a premium over the EPP deal, but can get the difference back in any price drop through mid-February and can deal with any potential issues by returning to the store.

What do you all think is a reasonable price to list a 3.5-year-old Sony 55" W900a in like-new condition?

Ok very important question. I'm looking at importing the B6 from the US.
Anyou major differences between B6P (US) and the B6D?
Thanks!

Anyone still have invites for the Samsung sale??

I've got 1 for you. PM your name and email.

I've got 2 more invites to give out after that for the first 2 responses.

For everyone that gets an invite, remember you get 5 invites yourself, so please pass the savings along!

Edit: All gone! I gave out 3 invites, so there should be 15 more invites available if you guys share them!

Guys, can you recommend me a 2/3 port 4k/60 hdmi switch?

Got myself a UE40KU6020 to use as a monitor for the PC and the Pro and you only get full wack on hdmi 1 so need to grab a switch. :)

Need some advice on what to get to compliment my new TV. I'm torn between getting the Samsung UBD-K8500 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Player for $209 through EPP or get the One S through a black Friday deal. Any suggestions? (Curse Sony for not including 4k bluray in the pro.)

I'll happily take one, thanks.

I'd love an invite for the Sony TV as well. I could do a little art commission as compensation :) Feel free to PM me if you have an extra!

So I decided to buy it, the Sony 55XD93 (55X93D in the US). Currys have a 10.5% cashback going, and the free soundbar I should be able to sell for at least £100, though I've seen them sell at £150 on ebay.

So I go to order. The TV I can have delivered tomorrow, great! The soundbar is now collection only...and you can't put the bloody code in to get it free with the TV when it's collection only!

So for now I'm holding off. I could probably walk in to a store and get it all together, but then I don't get the £168 cashback. fml.

So yeah, mildly miffed.

Anyone have any Samsung invites they're willing to send me?

I'll return the favor by providing the 5 codes I get to NeoGAF as well!
